Eden Trial - 10 mins ??
[ QUOTE ]
that is not how this trial is ment to be completed. it's not as the devs forseen it
[/ QUOTE ]
One of the brilliant things about this game is that the other way of doing things is usually as valid as the "right" way. Now, doing it in 10 minutes wouldn't personally be my cup of tea, but equally I wouldn't want to run a melee controller, or an all-powerpool scrapper, or the like (unless I had a good concept...). And to adress the second part of this quote...
We had "teh vision" for quite a while. I'm personally glad it's gone.
(Edited for typo correction)
TF Farmer and proud. Stop calling for nerfs, the devs have shown that they lack a bit of common sense in this area (cough cough .. ET ...) and are a little heavy handed. If you don't wanna run it in 10 mins then don't, personally I like the challenge of seeing how quick I can run a TF, not everyone likes to play the game like you. Some of us have done all the TF's many times over and properly with our first toons and all we want is the recipe, so that we can io up some pvp project that we cant be bothered to level. If I do that, what business is it of yours? U pay ure subs I pay mine, u play your game, I play mine.
Quit your job, come TF farm with me. By the time I'm done with you, you'll think Archus is the only AV in the game and that purples are the only insps. (Dont you just love the Ouroubrous Portal)
Eden trial for CoV plx.
If it becomes something the devs see as a problem, I'm pretty sure they'll adjust it.

Eventualy yes, history has proof of that
However, who cares its being done 24/7. Imho CoH already morphed into City of Farm&IO's, this is just a logical result. (min effort, max reward)

I could not agree with your more.
This fundamental problem of all these 10min Eden discussions is the disproportionality of the whole 'Effort vs Reward' mechanism, which is essentially the basic of all games. Take for example, people generally annoyed by others leeching. It is simply because the person who leeches makes the least effort for the maximum reward he could get out of it.
Farming Eden is the same: you spend 10mins or so to get rare recipes which otherwise would takes more time to obtain. That makes the valus of 'rare' meaningless in the game (will come back to this in a moment). The problem is of course not with the farmers - and this ridiculously funny when I see those farmers getting so defensive in this post. The problem is with the game design.
Nothing is perfect, obviously. But that does not stop people making suggestion on how to improve it: and in this case, readjust the Effort vs Reward balance in the Eden trial. Which ever way it is to be done is open for suggestions.
Farmers should not be upset about people recommending changes; people do make suggestions all the time. If farming is your purpose of being in the City of, by all means. Just that in my view (if not many others'), constantly exploiting and abusing the defective Eden is just sad.
***
It has been said that those actually doing some 'public good' out of this 10min Eden farming. They help to drive down the prices of some rare recipes in the market and also makes those rare and hard to obtain recipes accessible to more people. That sound very convincing if not noble. Hard to argue with that.
But I will leave you with this thought:
Smugglers help to 'import' expensive and rare items and sell them at a much cheaper price; 'generous' internet users upload movies and musics on websites for others to share. Their actions are indeed 'kind': bring goods that are otherwise expensive or rare to the masses. We should all be thankful to them. In fact, if they are the citizens of the City of, we should parade them all in Atlas so we can salute them.
If Eden is defective because it can be done in a short time, does that make the Katie TF defective or a couple of the villan SFs defective.
Sure they could make the CT ignore tohit roles, make it so you can't buy ambrosia in the same way you can't buy rikti merrits.
I'm sure everyone will then go back to katie or working on something else (Must be able to get the time for the sewer trial down a big chunk).
On the flip side I remember more than 1 eden team I've been on who have failed/given up. So you really don't want to make it that much harder.

Doesn't this in some way mean buying them @ Wents/BM is making the value of rare meaningless?

If Eden is defective because it can be done in a short time, does that make the Katie TF defective or a couple of the villan SFs defective. I did the majority of the leveling on my stalker by ghost paper missions. Little risk nice reward. By all the above reasoning, very very broken.

So by this rationale, all farmers always sell their precious recipes at the AH? I'm pretty sure this is not the case half the time.

Actualy this thought can be split up to several following issues.
Will 'smugglers' always sell the recipes? If it consist a 'core team' of smugglers, they more often will share the recipes among eachother, min/maxing every toon and every alt before even shifting them to the AH (except if they are the lousy recipes).
Next up, it divide the playerbase even further between 'casual' and 'farmer'. Where 1 side is gaining recipes and sortlike rapidly (thus increasing their abilities everyday), the other side still struggle to gain enough influence just to buy one.
And that is what will push new players away again from CoH. CoH was known as a great casual game, where everyone at every moment could do a mission, dispite their lvl, range or set. But now, with every question 'how to get influence to get a nice recipe' (and they really dont have to be great), the answer is 'go farm'.

And the game has changed how? I still run most of my toons on SOs. Dont bother with IOs or recipes. I have one toon that is PvP Pimped and that is all I am doing. Are the rest of my toons now cr*p because they have no IOs? Can I no longer play the game with these cr*pped out toons with no IO's/Recipes? No they are not [censored] (in PvE) and yes I can still play the game. If people wanna farm in 10 mins then let them. To the majority I would suggest that IO's and Recipes and Influence is not everything and the pull of the game is to play with friends and have fun.
I imagine the people that moan about this sort of thing are the ones that only have fun if they can have the best of things and get everything there own way. Just let people get on with it.

Everyone still can do a mission whatever their level range or set, gawd Ive still got chars that have SOs or plain IOs in that can still do tfs/sfs, in fact most of my chars bar a few who I use for pvp have no juicy sets in them.

Now i will leave you with this thought.
Iv got a cat named George, he is black and white and likes Marks & Spencer chicken breasts.
Thats got about as much to do with the Eden Trial being done in 10 mins as yours, anyone else got any pets with good names?

Lol this does very much seem to be very much along the same lines as the whole farming/PL debate that tends to run constantly in the background! As with the other things people do that other people don't like - we all pay (roughly) the same to play the game, therefore we can play (within reason) however we want. When someone else starts paying my subs then I will play how someone else prefers

[/ QUOTE ]And if they had no way to farm TF recipes efficiently, they'd be farming inf instead, and buying those recipes from the AH, resulting in more demand with the same supply, thus making them more expensive.
Considering the amount of "normal" farming that people do, TF recipe farming can only move the economy into a more balanced direction.
Prince wanted me to post this on his behalf, seen as he doesn't use the forums.

Awww but i loves sugar not even a little bit?
Every time iv done this there has been NO SPECIAL TEAM, it was a "run what ya brung"
How many optimized Eden Trial chars do you think people have to do half a dozen runs of this with?
I dont know about anyone else, but the people i did this with, were the same people in all the runs, with whatever toons they had.
And it was fun, and it didnt detract from the devs hard work creating TF's, which lets remember aint a charitable act of kindness, being tainted by farmers, its what they do for a living, being used by the people who pay them that living how they want to.
Now while im at it, lets talk about calling for suspensions and fixes for things...
Well 1st up lets suspend Recluses SF and Statesmans TF, theres a couple of missions in those that people avoid mobs in.
Next up the villain side respec trials, well they gotta go, mobs avoided.
Crystal Keeper SF, gotta go too, we started running straight to the hole and jumping down in the last mission, after doing it 100 times, a CoT starts looking like well, a CoT, bit sick of killing them to be honest, but the AV is still a laugh, never mind though, suspend and fix that too.
Paper missions, another victim of all that development time going to waste, suspend them in case someone ghosts to the glowie room, or just avoids doing kidnaps.
