Cave Maps = Motion Sickness

Am I the only person who feels physically sick and disoriented when moving through cave maps?

They completely ruin my game when I encounter them. GR, could you pass the message onto the Devs and have them take a look at them please? I can't be the only person who gets this.

Luckily I dont have that problem with cave maps. But I can see why that could be a problem when you are more sensitive to motion sickness. I doubt however that they can do much about it.

I'm not normally sensitive to motion sickness though. I've only ever had it when I played Doom years ago and when I tried playing on my DS in the car.

I also get motion sickness in cave maps.

Double in keldian nova form.

I really should do something about this signature.

Actually, I quite like them - especially the new Roman ones - they look like an old dungeon or crypt - I think it adds variety to the modern and sci-fi maps and city zones.

No I like the caves for the most part

I have no problem with the caves. But the mines, I hate those... Council Caves sometimes get on my nerves as well, but not as bad as the mines.

My VEAT doesn't fit in caves.

The Roman caves I'm fine with, I mean the cave maps you usually find council on. With the really small tunnels where everything around you looks the same, makes me really disoriented and sick.

i don't like the small passage caves, i'm a hero, not a moll.(tho, spiderman would be one of the only heroes that can craw trough them)

Yeah, the cave maps aren't that friendly to people who are clastrophobic or who have motion sickness.

Although I don't have either, I agree with passing it on to the Devs, don't want to turn up at the doctor with a reason like "it was that City of Heroes MMO!".

I never thought it was imaginable to be sick because of video games, well I did believe in RSI, and damage to the eyes, but I didn't believe throwing up and stuff...

Anyway, /rant over

Yup, i can hear you. After 1,5 Citadel Task Force on the weekend i started to think that one is the most annoying TF of the game (Even it is a common belief that Positron is long and annoying, Citadel wins Most Annoying TF award with its maps and stupid council mobs).

But still i can't decide which part of those maps i find more annoying, tunnels or that parts with pools.

I really dislike the cave missions, council bases and the grey mine tunnels. Pain in the tushie to navigate in em, especially as a flier ><

I don't get motion sickness in em tho... i just get annoyed

The newer cave maps, the ones with the wide tunnels (caves in hollows) and the roman caves are fine tho.

I did at first, so I went into the Options menu and switched the view to Always Centred. Works like a dream when you're out on the street - but a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE for cave maps! Feels like falling down a hidden trapdoor every time you go down a tunnel :^/ In the end I just switched it back to Free Look and eventually just got used to it.

Oh yeah - little tip from one who tried, just for the heck of it; The Invert Mouse option is really, truly NOT your friend in Cave Maps! If you think the motion sickness is bad in normal mode... man, it was like being VERY drunk. On board a ship. In a typhoon.

I symphathise, I too get motion sickness (when I'm not driving) - you are getting it in the car because you are concentrating on the screen as opposed to looking out the window and anticipating when the movement of the car is about to happen, It happens to me if I try to read in a car.

Re: the cave missions, try zooming in to either 1st person P.O.V or just over the shoulder, turning off sprint also.
The colour scheme being the same 360' around the crystalline-laced tunnels doesnt help I know, and as others have said, forget about flying or superspeed in there.

Yeah, I often switch to FPV but it still makes me feel queasy.

Just wish they'd open them up a little more, give us some more space in them.

I'm getting ill just thinking about them

The cave maps don't quite make me physically sick, but I must admit I find them quite disorienting. I tried First Person and also quite close up to the back of my characters' heads but I find that I end up ducking - WHAT!?! Why are you all looking at me like that? Don't you?

I used to get motion sickness when traversing the cave maps. How i got over it was pretty easy, its called turning off your travel power, it makes things a lot less queasy and your not exactly gimping yourself by turning them off while in a cave, still feeling sick? then first person view also helps.
