The one reason I like Vernon von Grun is because he's one of the only contacts in CoV that actually makes out like he's really appreciative of your help, you're like his lab assitant that he couldn't do without.
Every other contact treats you like a schmuck but Vernon, he treats you like you're someone worthy. When he does finally get his Mad Scientist Union card...he's really happy and really grateful you helped him out with his evil schemes.

Or did I express my opinion about how she phrased one of her posts? I've shown this thread to a few people now and they've all read it exactly the same way as I did. seeing owlong GGs been about the forums and almost never said anytihng bad or bothered anybody in any major way well apart from never letting up about animated hair i would prefer some people give her the benifit of the doubt on this one
when i first read the post i imidiatly saw it going to stat something simpley because it apeared to be a very poorly worded responce and it could be taking as a simple responce about the contacts and nature of the game or an insult to the people who enjoy playingthe game for the slightly over the top content like this and for the record im one of te people that did actuly enjoy this arc because of how over the top it go's.
but in the end let us remember this is a game and no matter what side you play blue or red good or evil it is just a game with some very nicely writen works of fiction thats all.
on a slightly topic related i would actuly like to see counter story arcs so on heros side you would be say working for longbow being sent out to stop these arcs from taking place and vice versa so the villians could then try and stop heros in a similar fasion wouldnt be hard to slip a sig hero or villian into the right places amung the arcs to represent the part of one of us

My Villains could accurately be described as sick and disgusting, I don't know about anyone else's.
I think I have done Phipps twice. Both on my most evil and sick villains. It didnt seem right for the others. And even on those two, I felt the pangs of WROOOOOOONG!
Having said that, its a great arc. Notorious even. People actually shy away from the evil of the man.
Now what we really need is a hero, or even a co-orp arc where we lovingly get to beat the snot out of him! Heck, if it had that at the end rather than a rare recipe, it could be a 20 hour Shadow Shard Marathon and people would still be clamouring to do it!

Sidestepping the melodrama express train to modsmack town for a moment, I'd just like to say I agree with Dr_Mechano that Vernon von Grun is a fantastic contact too - I wouldn't call him evil - more ambitiously misguided - but his briefings/debriefings are utterly hilarious and do more to make me feel like I'm playing a superhero game than anything else on redside or blueside by a country mile.
The superhero genre needs mad scientists and Vernon, along with his old mentor Dr Creed, do us proud for that on CoV.

She was saying the story was sick and disgusting not the people who play it and I agree with her. it doesn't stop me doing the arcs as my bad guys tend to be bad guys, but I know several people who avoid both westin and peter themari because it doesn't fit their character concept or just find them very disturbing.
The thing about villains as opposed to heroes is it gives you a very different slant on playing a game. I sometimes get bored with the cloying niceness of doing good all the time and move over to the bad side and it is nice to see that the devs haven't shied away from doing arcs with the real scum of the earth. The only thing I think it needs is a little disclaimer when you meet the characters saying that they are going to ask the character to do some truly dreadful and twisted things to give people a heads up.
And for heavens sake please stop the GG bashing whenever she says more than 3 words and a smiley. We have all phrased things in such a way that we could be misread occasionally and the rest of us get the benefit of the doubt. I have met her in game and couldn't wish for a more friendly helpful player. I just wish there were more like her about.

But Villains != Players, so I honestly don't see what there is to clarify for GG. Seems clear enough to me...

I've said it before in other threads, but this is one of the few arcs that actually makes playing a villain on CoV actually feel like its a villain, a stone cold evil killer type villain, as opposed to the bland thug-for-hire type arcs that seem to populate the rest of CoV (which is not to mention the times we have to save the world, far too frequent for my liking). It needs more of this type of arc.
Yeah what happens in the arcs is wrong...very wrong! But that is in part fun, to feel so evil! Of course its all make believe, its no different to an actor who enjoys playing a baddy in films/tv. Its good to be bad every now and then!
