I love CoX!

Hey guys :-)

Just thought I'd express my appreciation for CoX!

I've been playing this game on and off since I played a trial of CoV on the US servers a few years ago. I loved it so much in the 14 days I played, me and my brother just had incredible amounts of fun from the word go (Which is rare for an MMO)

I've swapped between plenty of MMOs in my "CoX career". I played Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, EVE Online and recently, Age of Conan. But in between each one of those, I've resubscribed to CoX and enjoyed it each and every time.

I just think the game has everything! Once you find the AT and powersets you love, you could just play missions over and over and never get bored. I love that playing in teams is the best way to level, but it's also great to know you CAN solo. Very few other games offer this! The Sidekick system is amazing. The PvP is great fun (Even if it isn't brilliantly balanced, but who cares!)

But most importantly... above all else...

The community!!!!

You guys are such a breath of fresh air from the WoW fools with their "Learn 2 Play" attitude. AoC community seems VERY much the same way. CoX is full of helpful, nice people. Even the flamers aren't that bad compared to other games communities! :-P

I hate to sound like some sort of suck up. But it really had to be said!

Thank you Cryptic and the CoX Community!!

It's very good that you are so willing to shout out about your "appreciation for CoX". At this moment in time I will also point out that it's SOOOO easy to misread that.

You'll find that most people agree with pretty much everything that you've said, there. I certainly do.

Oh, and it's NCSoft, now, not Cryptic.

But I agree with the OP entirely... except that this is the first MMORPG that I've played and probably the last, and still going strong... 36 months veteran in 6 days time..!

Afterthought - Will probably have a look at Champions Online when that gets released!

I've been playing since October 2004, joining just prior to the heady days of Issue 3 (was in the beta, but couldn't commit to anything then). I'm not going anywhere either. It's my first MMO - while I've dabbled in others (WOW, SWG, LOTRO), nothing has ever came close.

Regardless of all the others coming out (Champions Online, DCU Online and probably Star Trek Online (assuming that's what Cryptic are going to announce soon), I'll always keep coming back here.

Long may it continue.

I came late to CoX just coming up to 15 months (I think) after trying other MMOs. But for me this has almost everything I want. I can solo or I can team depending on my mode. Plenty of choice to what AT to play and what to wear, I still have nightmares about joining a team in EQ2 and every class looked the same.

Plus as the OP says the people who play this wonderful game.

In short in here for a long while yet

Welcome, wilkommen, bienvenue, c'mon in.

I've been lurking around Paragon making trouble since April '05, and it's been way too much fun to quit ever since. I did wander away to play a bit of EVE for a while, but Paragon's still home to me.

Is it time for the dance of joy yet?

Yep. Been here for a while and as the recent review said, it's a game for casual players, so it suits me down to the ground.

I don't really know people in the community because I never put enough time aside to play the game or chat, but both the players and the dev's seem very sensible about things and it's always had the feel of the old BBSs - which to me means good fun with a tongue in one's cheek and some sensible input when it's needed.

I'm not saying I won't leave for something else in the future (probably science fiction in nature), but I can't foresee it happening for a year or so yet.

Keep up the excellent work, dev's, mod's and players.

This is the only MMO I've ever re-subscribed to - say no more (but I will anyway!). I just find CoH/V's basic gameplay is just so much more fun than most of the MMOs out there, and like you said the community is way better than most too.

In 8 years of playing most of the major MMOs I'd never put a single person on /ignore until I started playing WoW - I think I had 20 "people" (and I use that word in the broadest sense) on ignore there in the first week! Like a fool I thought a couple of years of putting up with Bnet kiddies in Diablo 1/2 would prepare me, but oh boy! Think the forums are bad? - in-game my WoW server was even worse (especially Alliance side - Horde was better).

But be grateful that WoW is an idiot magnet - it keeps most of them out of other MMOs like this one

That is so true, in fact thats the best quote i've heard in ages *claps*

I've only been playing CoX for about 10 months (online) and i like the fact that if your like me and travel round quite a bit for several months then come back your always welcomed and remebered by peeps and even if your not remebered you feel part of a MMO family, no other game has that.

In the most positive way possible its an MMO of casual gamers

I believe what Golden Girl keep saying is true. You can't leave this game when you get a hang of it. You'll eventually come back and taste this unique atmosphere.

I left CoH after nine months? Not totally left tho, kept my sub up but barely played. But everytime i stepped into servers my friends instantly greeted me with warm wellcome backs. As much as some immature community was cause of my leave, friends was the ones who kept me tied to this game. Even on my DDO days, on my favorite raid i found myself wishing my friends from CoH were there to enjoy and help to take down that nasty red dragon, Velah.(Heh luckily we have a similiar challange in CoH now, Statesman TF. Even if we fail it feels so good to take down that challanging AVs. Still need to see Imperious one tho.)

I am not a MMO player. I played CoH, DDO and if you count 2 days of WoW, WoW. No other game has special feeling CoH has. When you created a hero in CoH it is totally yours. No hero looks like another, everyone unique even with same power sets. That creates a special connection between player and character.

Thanks to community both in game and forums there are many special things to do in this game. Task Forces, Themed Teams, Cossie comps, Special events or just simply helping young ones by following the foot steps of other veterans (Even the Mother's Love is the first example everyone of us think, there was a tanker who helped one of my lowbie character with taunting villians in Atlas which i am doing from time to time whenever i came across one in trouble with my tankers)

In the end this game has a unique place in all the MMOs in the market i believe. Only one thing i really wish to see in CoH is something like the Social Panel of DDO so teaming will be much way to easier (please don't get me wrong i never have a hard time to get into teams as my heroes can solo but having tells for an invite when you are in a full team is really upseting me)

Long Live CoH (and CoV even i don't venture into ways of evil. My highest villian ever is still lvl 7 )

I have to wholeheartedly agree with the OP, as my experiences are almost identical, and having played a trial and now having found AoC not much different from WoW in the kind of people it seems to attract, I decided to take the plunge and subscribe to CoX.

And I love it. People really do seem nicer in this game, with heads as far removed from their backsides as possible.

my only regret is that I can't stop playing :P

I'm really sorry, but the thread title is making me giggle in the most disgustingly juvenile fashion.

Also, this is the first MMO I ever played. I picked it because I was attracted by the superhero idea and it said it has viable solo play. Three years on and I've discovered they're the only ones who weren't lying about the solo play bit, which is why it's still the only MMO I play.

Oh you can give me a load of "WoW can be played solo!" pish if you want, but frankly I'm so tired of it I'll just hit you in the face with a brick instead of talking about it.

Pretty much every mmo mission as well.

You can solo a lot of AoC, but i have to add to the idea the WoW wasn't solo friendly when i played it, lost of stuff was so absurdly hard to do that you were forced to group and the game punished you massively for being in a group by dropping of the XP hugely.
