Here's a linky to the online bit, and apparently there's more in the magazine itself (including a piccy displaying the Purple-Butt-Light power ), and CoX is given 5/5 by the reviewer.

The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*

Oddly enough, it's how I explain it to my friends - as "the game you can play without it eating your social life".

Is it time for the dance of joy yet?

I'd guess that's worldwide

EU forums have 30,000 registered users, or thereabouts, US forums have 117,000 registered users, or thereabouts.

If they're taking subscription numbers from day one, and not excluding inactive accounts - then 160,000 could easily be EU only. Worldwide, it seems a little small.

Nope, that's world wide, 30 - 40k in the EU sounds about right, as does 120 - 130 for the US, this isn't the biggest game in the world, but is doing ok.

also the other numbers that have corpped up put us at around that mark.

remember, if some one isn't subbed to here or the US, they can't play the game.

According to joystiq.com, COH/COV has 0.8% of the market (as of April this year) whereas WOW has 62%.

Now I can't remember how to do maths properly, but I'm sure some cleverer person than myself can do that whole (well if 62% if 9 million, then 0.8% of that 100% figure is...) equation.

*sneaky edit*

9,000,000 / 62 * 0.8

So 116129.03

So that 160,000 seems about right worldwide. Certainly 160,000 in the EU only seems a bit high

Okay, that looks about right. 160k.

But, look at it this way - still high enough to register on the scoreboard, even if only just

Edit: No SWG? No DDO on that list? Mmmmh.

Short but sweet - good to see CoH getting some more exposure.

And those subs numbers have to be worldwide - wasn't it announced that the combined game peaked at 220k subs (EU+US combined) in I6 after CoV launch? (The data here suggests 200k but may not be wholly accurate, but the trends seem to match). Based on forum activity and in-game numbers we certainly haven't got more people around now on the EU servers than we did back in I6 (though I can't speak for US servers).

If CoH/CoV ever broke the 300k and 500k subscriber barriers (300k being a big announcement point in the old EQ/UO/SWG days, and 500k being the big target pre-WoW that EQ just failed to achieve) I think NCSoft would be crowing about it in a press release.

Says it all that. Paragon City (oh, ok, and the Rogue Isles) is home. You can take your big tree cities and hippogriff transport system and stick 'em... The green line will never be beaten...

I still mock my RL mates who have stayed WOW side and wont join me =( I mock because I'm out on friday nights having a wonderful time with my other mates while one or two of them are sitting for hours on WOW, whilst I'm safe in the knowledge that one night (or several) in the pub won't cause my CoX world to collapse!

I've said it before and I will say it again, thats what drew me to CoX and exactly why I doubt another MMORPG will keep me hooked for this long!

for all i know continuing to make fun of him may keep him away from it

I don't do it as often as I did...I used to continually ask one of them if they'd gotten an elephant yet, this was a running joke until he actually did. Then asked again and he went on to me all about his tailor who had some cloth etc etc etc whilst I sat bored looking for someone to save me!
