PvP with PvE build?
Depends on your toon and how PvEish it is. I have some toons I would not go anywhere near PvP with. The other extreme is one of my brutes who is a PvP monster with his PvE build and has yet only been beaten a few times against truly overwhelming odds and not without taking his toll in hero blood.
As I said: It depends.
If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.
Most of the times PvP builds perform great in PvE as well due to high focus on damage, stamina, regen, accuracy etc.
There are very few instances that you ll gimp yourself for PvE with a pure PvP build but not vice versa.
Hmmm. Could someone give me an example of a PvP build thats not gimp in PvE?
It seems to me to be PvP'able you definately need to avoid any AoE attack (which gimps you in PvE), and you need at least some of +perc / stealth / phase shift / Aid self / Dual movement options - which seem, to me, often to be "inefficient" PvE choices at best.

There isnt really a PvP build that doesnt perform exceptionally well in PvE.Even with single target builds you are insanely efficient due to high damage high recharge high stamina high hp high accuracy etc etc.
5sec recharge on throw spines?

Taking aside that taking no AoE powers gimps you IMO (especially in late game which is totally dominated by AoE), Arent you still forced (to be PvP viable) into taking highly inefficient powers like phase shift / dual movements / medicine pool etc?
I dont think you can generalise too much but it is certainly possible.
For example empathy defenders built for pvp that keep resurrect are often much better than there pve counterparts because of increased range, & recharge of powers. As well as improved maneuverability.
As far as other toons go single targets sets such as Ice blast, Broadsword, Energy Melee dont loose much when going pure pvp as in essence all they are doing is playing to their strengths. Well from a personally point of view anyway as im not much of a fan of ice storm and whirling hands.
PvP Fire/Energy blasters still perform reasonably in pve (obviously not as well as a pure pve build) through fast recharging fire ball and inferno as well as the great single target damage.
As for non squishes stuff like fire tanks, regen scrappers are much easier to build hybrid builds for because of the self heals (no need for medicine). On most fire tanks/brutes your taking speed and leaping pools anyway so taking one extra power in superspeed isnt too much of a loss. Similarly with stalkers you loose nothing when going pvp spec.
Although there is space for comprimise for example a pure pvp spec thermal would take 3 attacks and aim from primary, all apart from rise in the secondary, fitness, acro, super speed, phase and shield. Just by dropping phase you dont lose a lot of pvp prowess but can take the rez, nuke, another AoE for example.
Controllers are the one toon where you have to comprimise (in terms of pve) heavily so i wouldnt bother with a hybrid build for them.
thePhilosopher Martial Arts/Regen/Fire Scrapper
theRegulator Empathy/Energy/Soul Defender
Total Inertia Ice Blast/Kinetics/Psy Corruptor
Total Inferno Ice Blast/Thermal/Leviathan Corruptor
All depends on how serious you want to get about it. You can go for a serious PvP build or a fun PvP. I tend to go for the fun. My ss/fire brute does well in PvP no world beater but does well and isn't set up for PvP he doesnt even have a lot of sets on him but he tough to kill. My "PvP toon" is a dom now she dies a lot not as much as when I 1st started but is still very squishy but it is realy fun to play putting a def or a cont to sleep that nobody else can touch so the rest of my team can pounce on them or my personal fav tk toons in to a corner to take some beats.
I admit quite freely I'm not the best PvP player and quite frankly going by the way some of those who claim to be the best act I wouldn't want to be lumped in with them. But I do have fun which is what a game is ment to be.

I totally agree with the statement about the pvpers but back to the question yes it is quite possible to make a pve/pvp character that performs well in each area, i made my scrapper that way and he does get kills in pvp and have been able to solo an av. (malaise i know he is considered to be one of the easier av´s but i still think you need to have a pretty good pve character to be able to)

Some of my closest ingame friends are imo top PvP players and i wouldnt say they act inapropriate, if you mean they are competitive then surely that is par of the course?
Spine/Regen Scrapper both PvP and PvE without not loseing much only thing ive not taken has been spines burst every thing else is viable in both!!!
My Kinetic/Electric defender has AoE attacks in Ball of Lightning and Short Circuit, not to mention Fulcrum Shift. He's fun to play solo, teamed and in PvP. I can beat some players that aren't well prepared for massive end drain and he's useful in hectic big team battles due to the nature of the buffs. The other night in Pocket D PvP I was holding my own against a number of players, this was mainly due to the nature of the map and the fact i could fulcrum shift off several of the other team at once. Masterminds are also good to fight against with AoE so long as they aren't */dark lol.
Hmmm probably my /Kin Corruptor. I find it hard with the heal sometimes because often my target skips off out of range, and a good Blaster often spikes right over the short downtime if I do land it. It's a great fun toon tho' and as well as giving SB, ID buffs etc I see my role as being a real annoyance factor, Siphoning a target, draining it and webbing it down with the Mace etc which makes things tough on them and sets them up for my team mates to kill. Fighting melee toons on it is pretty cool fun .

Yes, I remember. I was one of those Masterminds.
Taking a PvE build into PvP is possible, I got through to the final with my MM. Didn't do to well in the final...someone was draining all my endurance, and that of all my pets...
This is very much specced for PvE, solos AVs for breakfast, and still does ok in casual PvP. Not so good when all the pros come out with thier builds specced to take on MMs though...(I hate TP foe)

I seem to be well known throughtout union i am constantly attacked in which ever PvP Zone i enter
Pease feel free to share more of your views with us.

Thx, I loved that clip, Im gonna post it around the US forums
Having no inclincation to gimp myself in PvE, I wonder if anyone can answer this query...
Is there anyway to PvP without gimping yourself in PvE?
And when I say "PvP" i do mean PvPing with a reasonable chance of success.
