Bases: What are they good for?

Well, my little pocket VG's base seems to be nearing completion - after levelling various alts (and gratefully pocketing a couple of dollops of bonus prestige) I have a minumum plot size that holds:

1) Porters to all villain zones
2) Medical room with bay
3) Workshop with crafting station, vault access, small and med empowerment station, salvage & insp shelves and basic workbench
4) A few hundred spare power and control

I've just bought a second Workshop to complete the workbench and empowerment set with, but that's more out of a sense of completeness than because of any real need. I can't see much practical reason for using half of the stuff in there now (the porters are the only really useful items IMHO).

So, what next, if anything?

I can't see the point of expanding the plot size - at > 1.5 mill to go up to the next level it'd take forever to get there, and its not as though there's anything I'd want to put in the extra space if I had it.

Even I'm not deluded enough to make the base raid-capable, when there's only the one active account across all its members.

Other than tarting it up with gratuitous decorations, is that bases "done"?

for me i love my base i always add or charge stuff atm i planing on installing my fusion gen atm which is going to cost me a total of 12m, but i do like making room up like a bar/night club i got atm. it fun to do stuff like that making my base unque in it own way

and also base building is my end game and badge collecting as well

well as you mentioned they are usefull for the teleporters
also having an autodoc and salavge vault means u can store any salvage worth lots and sell any rubbish salvage/recipies at the auto-doc for the same price as the shop, then click the base portal again and it'll put you out where you came in (really usefull for farming, better than lots of running)
if you was to have a hospital and was in a zone like the shadow shard, or a villian zone without a hosp or teleport beacon, and you die, you can go to base hospital, click on the portal, and you'll come back out where you died... saves lots of times
the empowerment buffs from their are good to play around with, the work tables to make all you're handy IOs
eventually an item of power which will "apparently" give your SG members a buff if it ever comes into play
as you already mentioned its useful for storage
my SG has over 200 of each halloween costumes which is brilliant for when ur making new chars

altho very usefull, i think the bases could be improved with more benifits

Unless you want to start spending money on rent, i think thats you done mate untill they add a bit more to bases.

Cheers - essentially levelling 2 toons from 2 to the high 40s, plus the bonus prestige (after some heinous membership padding with temp accounts ) were enough to do the job.

Mind you, wouldn't like to have to try the same hero side, with its 79 zones and associated inflation of teleporter count/porter rooms/plot size.

Will sit tight and hoard the prest now, and hope the promised "base-oriented issue" appears soon.

prity much the same as your bo standard quartermaster its actuly something i always forget about

but grats on the solo base not an easy thing to pull off me and the wife were barely able to pull off out duo base on freedom but then thats heros so a bit tp crazy there

I did it hero side (as well as a villain side base). Funnily enough I seemed to fall into one or two temp accounts just at the right time as well. It's amazing what you can cram into the smallest plot size with enough planning. I managed 4 Transport Rooms servicing 16 locations. With a bit of planning I have yet to need a teleport destination that wasn't in the base. I haven't had to sacrifice on storage either, with 5 insp collectors, 3 enhancement tables, salvage, vault etc, and a medbay. All done with 6 million bonus prestige & 2 active members.

I think its nice to have a place where you can keep things in storage without a worry about other folk. I have such a place hero and villain side on all servers XD.

I like our base. The things it's used for are:

- TPs
- Storage and pickup of insp's.
- Resurection

Not much more really.

Raiding and IoP eventually, maybe, maybe not.

* nice hospital
* Supergroup meetings
* Base parties
* Putting in enhancements for lower levels to use (like to put in 1 rare IO enhancement a week)
* Salvage storage
* Buffs

Bases in the last few months have become such an important fun factor for me personally. If you design them right and have a good supergroup, your base will be awesome and feel like a second home

and any recipies, the standard ones are worth more at the auto-doc than wentworths these days. Just nice to sell basic ones in-between missions if you travel through the base, saves running to the stores alot

Well done Standoff. I know what a challenge this it. Even with some alt padding, my little SG base on Vigilance still only has 5 rooms (entrance, lab, power, control and transport) and I dont even have enough control to run the second teleporter yet.

If your's is 'finished' I am well impressed.

pitty they didnt reduce the costs of updating the plots downwards. I would personally love to do raids against other bases but unless i find 1.6 million prestige or how ever much it is i dont think im going to be doing that .

Shame i enjoy the bases but currently its just used for teleporting new toons around and the fire/ice thing.

really do hope they take a look at the cost because not everyone can recruit like 50 odd players to all support prestige farming at the same time.

Im pretty sure you can get a raid ready base on the smallest, free plot.

We have used the basic size free plot that our 50s vg has to launch mess about raids from on ourselves.

Thinking about it you might only be able to raid from the smallest plot, not be raided, il have a look later
