  1. No, I wanted confirmation that I hadn't missed anything that could give me a bit of a tweak in a build that works, on a character I like, with the powers I want to take, and that overall I'm pretty happy with. This does appear to have been provided, albeit in a fairly smug, self congratulatory and obnoxious way. Job done. Cheers.
  2. Well, I'll take that as a no to the original question, and carry on enjoying my character.

A pleasure talking to you all.
  3. I did give it some thought. I don't particularly like the power, I find it generally picks up on a stray boss or two before they're locked down and it gets annoying. I like the powers as they are, thank you, the character is fun and effective as it is.

Re: Acrobatics -v- KB IOs. I did think about that one - one less toggle wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing - but was very tight on slots so I decided to put it in, rather than taking a different power that I wouldn't have enough slots to make much of, and then having to find more slots for KB IOs. Also to be fair, having played fire control without Acrobatics before, with so much time spent in melee the hold protection is actually pretty noticable.

As I said, I'm just wondering if anyone else can spot anything end recovery wise in the build that I could get fairly cheaply.

I also think you are mistaking irritation at people ignoring the point for defensiveness. Either way, I heard a rumour that being "snarky" is not generally a good way to provoke people's sunnier sides.
  4. No, generally not. Whenever I see Tornado used it gets irritating at some point, I don't like the look of the power, I don't like the power, there's definitely nothing in the build I'd want to lose to take it. It's also really not relevant to the question I was asking.
  5. Boohiss to Tornado. I like my KB a bit more controllable than that, thank you.
  6. On the EU a number of us who'd done a variety of silly things at meets (and other stuff) had custom titles - I seem to recall mine was "Initiated into Arachnos" and I'm sure there were a few others. I'm wondering if there's any chance of getting these back again and if so, who I need to poke.

    Anyone know?
  7. I'm trying to keep costs to 240 merits and 100 mil maximum, including salvage and recipe costs, as I'm saving all my pennies for a stupidly expensive and fun build on my plant/sonic controller.

Going for endurance recovery, more endurance recovery, and perhaps some more endurance recovery, after that recharge, hitpoints and accuracy, and any incidental damage, plus procs of course! Looking for lots of endurance enhancement in powers as well as the recovery bonuses. Character is level 39 at the moment, and this is the build I'm working on. Enhancements are shown at the level I'm slotting them - I want bonuses as I go along. Currently the build is on budget and very playable without endurance buffs in the team - it's an awful lot of fun and does really quite respectable damage, although running around with all the toggles on spamming attacks will run me down bit by bit. I've deliberately left hasten until last because I need Consume to make it work for me.

Interested to see if anyone can suggest any tweaks to slotting to improve recovery without losing too much else from the build. I like the power choices I have and don't intend to change them.

    Cheers,

    Wyx

  8. Few things from looking at that:

Taking three power pools is absolutely fine. You'll need fitness, and if flight is your travel power, taking at least hasten from the speed pool makes sense. (Although on the subject of flight as a travel power, it is worth bearing in mind that you can't place Ice Patch while in flight, and it is a very handy power at times.)

Regarding Rain of Fire: You can slot accuracy enhancements in it, but it isn't needed. The base accuracy on Rain of Fire is 150% (compared to 75% on most of your other attacks), so I'd just slot it for damage, recharge and endurance reduction.

In all your attacks I would generally advise slotting accuracy before slotting damage, as a power does no damage at all if it misses. As a very general rule of thumb at lower level I would normally slot two accuracy in a single target attack, and one in an AOE attack. I would also generally slot some endurance reduction in the AOE attacks.

Chillblain is an immobilise first and foremost, and given the low damage for the endurance cost, is not worth slotting for damage with the fire primary. All I would slot in it is one or two accuracy enhancements, and at higher level the only time I would ever use it would be for it's -fly capability. It's not a power that sees a lot of use generally and I personally wouldn't have put any extra slots in it at all at that sort of level.

If you're taking Flight as your travel power, it's advisable to take Swift, rather than Hurdle, from the Fitness pool. Swift can be slotted with flight speed enhancements and will enhance your speed while hovering and flying.

This is a quick build up to level 20, which is roughly what I'd go for. Moving on from there I'd be looking at six slotting all the AOEs, taking some of the goodies from the secondary, particularly Shiver which is brilliant on a fire blaster, and then slotting up single target attacks (Fire Blast, Blaze, Ice Sword). I'd also definitely get build up in there as the next power (actually, I'd probably have taken it before 20, but I've kept your power choices barring switching Hurdle to Swift in the Fitness Pool). At higher level you can get some pretty decent and dirt cheap blaster builds using sets too. Enjoy.

  9. We'll be starting it Thursday and finishing it Friday. It's too long a TF to do in one day and be fun in my opinion.

    Edit: Team now full.
  10. Still have two spaces free on this if anyone is interested.
  11. I'm looking to run the Dr Quaterfield TF Explorers and Exlpoiters Thursday and Friday evening this week.

This is definitely the longest TF in the game, in my experience around 4-6 hours with a reasonable team and a minimum of afk time (although I have heard of people taking considerably longer to do it), hence planning it in advance doing it over two evenings.

I currently have at least two spaces free, and could do with at least one more defender or controller. Please shout if interested.

    Cheers,

    Empathy

In my opinion, the Doctored Wounds set gives a better boost than Numina's anyway, when you take into account the recharge boost. This is the build I just planned out for my Empath. With unlimited cash I could make it a bit better, but this has cost me well under 100 mil including salvage and crafting costs, but excluding the KB IOs, the 3 HOs and the LOTGs which I had already - no idea what they go for nowadays. Obviously I do have attacks so this probably isn't exactly what you're looking for - I might not use them much in bigger or more "dodgy" teams, but it's rare that I don't find I have a little time for attacking at all. If I were going to ditch the attacks for any reason, I'd still take the same power pools, but probably add in Superjump, Acrobatics, and Vengeance - maybe even Manouvers to get some more of those nice defence set bonuses.

Personally I don't value the concealment pool for PvE at all. I certainly wouldn't waste time as an Empath individually making everyone invisible when they'll only make themselves visible as soon as they attack anyway. Endurance really isn't much of an issue on an Empath, so running Superspeed or Sprint with a stealth IO to get full invis isn't a problem.

  13. Most of the stuff I haven't done, I haven't wanted to. Think my most notable list of stuff would be:

The "new" Hami, or Hami villain side at all.

STF or RSF in a pick up team.

    Played a Kheldian.

    Played a VEAT.

    Played a "non-squishy" character to level 50.

    Cold defender?

I made psi, just because it's a set I've not played much before.

Mostly, I never played it because the lack of aim bugged me, lots of nice -def in cold, so should work very nicely thank you very much.

Mostly, I'm looking forward to getting the nuke and heat loss. Even on a corruptor you can get enough +rec from heat loss with a few set bonuses to bust through a nuke's downtime, so on a defender, it should be pretty easy. I'll probably still take power to help with that. Even with the nerf, it still looks like a good set to me. Possibly that's 'cos I get very over-excited about Total Focus though, plus good smashing and lethal res will add nicely to the other res from arctic fog.

Anyway, all that aside, I already had the name I want, Strawberry Icecream just wouldn't have worked with any other sets.

    Happiness is...

Almost, but not quite, it'll be your turn on the next group. Anyway, how are you going to blizzard them, when I've already scattered them round the room with Nova!
  17. OV_Wyx

    Happiness is...

... our regular all corruptor team getting to level 32 last night.

1 Blackstar, 2 Dreadful Wails, 3 Blizzards, 1 Atomic Blast and 1 Nova.

Oh, and for next week, I'd just like to say: It's my turn first!

  19. OV_Wyx

    Ice/Sonic Build

Need to take a better look at that, but it doesn't seem too bad.

I do like the idea of psionic resist on a villain though. I'll definitely pirate good chunks of it for my ice/sonic corruptor however.

Hmmm, got a houseful of drunken octs atm, will take a better look tomorrow. Cheers though.

    Humph. We're not talking now!
  21. OV_Wyx

    Ice/Sonic Build

You always say "that's going to cost you" to all my builds!
  22. Nah, Kismet cost me 5 mil, at the level I'm buying stuff at it's coming in dirt cheap. Almost no expensive salvage. I'm also only playing the character once a week so I can be patient on bids.

Keeping track of how much it costs me.
  23. While I'm on the subject of builds...

This character is on Defiant, and I made her for an all corruptor team - that's all she plays with at the moment. I'm trying to do a cheap but effective build, given that I don't have much cash on Defiant. I want the whole thing to be no more than 30 mil and this will easily come in at under that if I'm patient with bids.

This one isn't so much about brilliant set bonuses (although there's some bits of recovery and hitpoints etc in there) but making the most of the slots and doing it cheaply. I wanted to get the IOs I was going to use throughout in quite early.

Flight is a must on this one, to deal with KB.

    Ice/Sonic Build

This is going to be some serious piggy bank raiding - I need to get saving. I have another corruptor I love though, Peppermint's build is worth every penny I spent on it, so more spending seems to be called for!

I'm looking first and foremost for endurance and recovery. She's a monster for eating endurance. Level 29 at the moment, and my god, the end bar can be chomped up just by buffing everyone and going once through the attack chain while those toggles are running!

Next is for toughness and survivability (although I don't want to take fighting). Medicine seems like a good option, I can get the recharge on aid self pretty good, it serves me well on my blasters, I can see it working well for this one too. After that accuracy and recharge and all the usual gubbins.

I don't want to take power sink if I can avoid it, I'm not sure which epic shield I'll get. Might end up with sharkskin again, might stick with the energy one.

Freeze Ray is late in the build, because she normally teams with two dominators - I figure they can do the holding of stuff for now.

I did look at using Titanium Coating in the shields to go down the ranged defence route instead of psionic resistance, after someone suggested it, but it cost me a lot of my endurance bonuses. It looks like I'm going for resistance all round.

    Any sensible suggestions welcome.
