Three security guards and two police officers were killed by an unknown female assailant wielding two knives late on Friday night. The police were responding to a break-in at a jewellery store in Founders' Falls. At this time, police have no leads on the criminal involved.

HELLION ARSONISTS DESTROY EVIDENCE
(Wednesday 17th February 2010)
Early this morning, a harbor warehouse used as a temporary storage for confiscated evidence by Longbow officials, was attacked by numerous Hellion attackers. The ravaging attackers pillaged some of the goods stored in the warehouse, and then lit the rest of them in fire. While a number of the attackers fled with their loot, some other attacker remained at the scene, and fiercely kept firefighters and Longbow soldiers from putting out the fire. Finally, thanks to hero intervention, the Hellions were driven off the harbor and firefighters were given a chance to put out the hellish inferno. Thanks to the heroic effort of men and women of PCFD, a catastrophy was obviated. However, the fire destroyed two warehouses completely before it was put out.
Steel Canyon University February 20th
The leadership of science based company Rubicon Ultra-human Research (RUR) were arrested today by members of the Golden Age Heroes after a public meeting held inside the Steel Canyon University building. RUR were seeking signature for their petition to allow them to run trials of an experimental "Wonder Cream" on the children of the local Saint Impecunious orphanage in return for financial support of that institution. They were subsequently all released on bail.
Professor Russom of RUR had this say, "I've not been this humiliated since I was kicked out of Oxford. Arrest us? Why one of these Golden Heroes people, Lily Bo Peep, even signed our petition before arresting us!"
Meanwhile City Hall has issued a statement clearly stating that RUR would not be allowed under any circumstances to experiment on the children in their care.
Unusual weather patterns in the Atlantic Ocean.
Meteorologists have been monitoring unusual weather conditions in the Atlantic Ocean, it was believed that it may have been the beginning formation of a new form of super hurricane. Due to the sudden dissipation of the weather pattern, it is now believed that the origin of the event was due to meta-human activities.

DRIVE-BY IN STEEL CANYON - HEROES SEIZE ASSAILANTS
(monday 8th march 2010)
Late last night a convoy of five saloon cars with darkened windows glided in Steel Canyon, and siezed a part of Royal Outlook. It is not exactly known what happened, but soon after these cars were seen to enter this alleged Hellion gang-turf, PPD got tipped of a large scale firefight going on. It is believed the cars were occupied by hitmen, who were ordered to assassinate one or more Hellion gang-leaders controlling their turf in Steel Canyon. As it was found out both of the parties fighting had super-powered individuals in their ranks, PPD called out for hero intervention. Heroes managed to seize some assailants, including Mike "Mooseneck" Hackert, a super-powered hitman allegedly working for the Family. Apprehension of this wanted criminal is credited to Zaphire, young but promising heroine working closely with the PPD. Hellions captured that night were said to have suprisingly strong super-powers, a rumour that has not been verified by PPD.
Hero goes rogue.
Last night a hero was arrested after savagely beating several Hellion gang members, after they had surrendered to the hero. The unknown male, who goes by the hero name Gaslight was taken away by police. It is understood that he did not resist arrest.

New Golden Hero Saves Lives.
A woman was attacked last night by violent thugs before being rescued by a "Shining Golden Knight", the unknown hero lit up the dark streets below before slowly gliding down towards the thugs, slowly raising his hand he rendered one of the men unconcious with a flick of his wrist and a very bright light, the other two simply surrendered after seeing the dazzling, but brief display of power.
Strangely enough when the PPD asked who he was he simply replied, "a friend", even stranger was the fact that instead of flying off into the sky like most heroes would he opted to walk the young lady, Jess philips, home.
"Yeah he just walked with me like he was a normal guy, he reassured me that this sort of thing was rare and id be safe from now on, then we talked about why i was out that late, which of course was because i had to work late at last minute, then he asked about my job, we talked about what it was like there and had a few laughs, i mean...if he wasn't in a golden suit with a helmet on i'd say he was just an everyday kind of guy, he seemed really calm and made me feel calm too, its like he really wanted to make sure i was ok."
The PPD were unable to give the Heroes name but did mention he matched the description of a hero seen recently fighting some Clockwork Paladins with a group of other heroes.

The body of Lioness' Pride, a little-known heroine on South African visas, was found earlier today in her apartment in Talos Island after neighbours noticed her newspapers hadn't been pulled through the mailslot for a week. Investigators from PPD were called to the scene and found miss Claudia Fisherman, 21, of Beaufort West, laying on her bed as though asleep.
There were no signs of struggle or disturbance. Cause of death was determined to be dehydration, prompting the coronor to suggest she simply 'Lay down to die.' Police are not treating the death as suspicious but will investigate further.
The body will be handed over to the South African Embassy later this week for repatriation.
Paragon Hero Goes Rogue?
In breaking news this lunchtime, the Kings Row Meta-Youth Detention Centre, home to some of the cities redeemable superpowered delinquents, has been raided by a small force, led by a hero of Paragon City.
The former hero in question, going by the alias of Air Razor, is said to have produced disruptive weather around the facility, before leading a team of mercenaries inside to rescue one of the inmates. Several guards were wounded in the attack, and one is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
A PPD spokesman said that no effort would be spared to bring Air Razor to justice, however he cautioned that civilians should stay away from him if they encounter him, and allow the PPD to handle the arrest of this super-powered threat.
There has been no official comment on the possible reasons for Air Razor's actions, and the PPD are refusing to identify the prisoner who was rescued, however they have issued their assurance that the facility is secure, and no other inmates escaped during the attack.
Late breaking news.
The Unity Vigil tonight issued a statement that the hero known as Air Razor was taken into custody and later released following psychic verification that he was, in fact, in school at the time of the attack in King's Row.
Any requests for further information are to be routed through the Unity Vigil press office.

Oceana embassy abandoned?
The embassy at the centre of much internet based rumour has been seen without lighting for several days now. This newspapers attempts to get in contact with the embassy receive an inactive dial tone.
A spokesperson from the country had this to say...
Ambassador Pamela Rouge has been recalled due to a redistribution of skilled workers. A new ambassadorial staff will be sent, Oceana desires to form closer ties to the United States Of America.

Early morning issue, Paragon Times, Society Pages
The rich and famous gathered in the prestigious Marloborough Hotel last night, raising money for the Paragon Youth Drug Rehabilitation Trust. Pictured among the gathered businessmen are film star Dirk Bendgrass and ex-Playboy model Anastasia Kade. Mrs Kade brought with her a number of glamorous young ladies belonging to her agency, Paragon Pets, and their presence certainly brightened up an otherwise rather dull fund raiser.

The return of the Under Scare?
At noon on Sunday the 21st, Steel Canyon Meta-Youth Detention Centre collapsed into the sewers. There was no evidence of subsidence prior to the collapse, luckily after the collapse there was no further structural damage to the building. Only minor injures were sustained during the collapse, however several of the inmates have gone missing since the incident.

President of Oceana claims wanted terrorist is in Paragon City.
This morning the president of the island nation of Oceana, released an impassioned plea to the government of the United States, she claimed that a long term enemy of Oceana and the reason for the island nations arrival on Earth is at large in Paragon City, she claims that the collapse of Steel Canyon Meta-Youth Detention Centre was due to a powerful meta-human by the name of Jack Wolf, she claims that the individual has powerful matter conversion powers.
Information regarding the alleged terrorist has been provided to law enforcement agencies...

Organised Crime On The Rise: New Player In The Game?
A massive wave of organised crime has swept some parts of Paragon City. Over half a dozen banks in Steel Canyon, Skyway City, Atlas Park and King's Row have been robbed, and all staff brutally murdered, in as many days. The sole surviving witness to one of these attacks is currently in critical but stable condition in hospital, and it is unknown whether he will survive to give testimony. Back Alley Brawler called the vicious raids a "damn shame" and "a blight on our city".
While most believe that the Family are to blame, analysts in the PPD have released a statement throwing their involvement into doubt, stating that the methods used are unusually ruthless even for the syndicate of the Family, and that a "new player in the game" has appeared in the arena of organised crime.

Charity Couple Confirmed Courting
Anastasia Kade, model, agent and usually present in the charity scene of Paragon City was seen on the arm last night of property developer and philanthropist Shay Bennet at the exclusive restaurant 'Diamond' in Founders Falls. While rumours have circulated for many months about the pair, from evenings out to working together closely on good causes, our sources say that the pair were kissing and looking very content as Shay, 34, took the blonde beauty Anastasia out for her 30th birthday. Our reporters state that Anastasia, known for her modeling career, was picked up from her apartment building by a limo belonging to Shay, and that the LA born property developer headed up with her after leaving the acclaimed hotspot for Paragon's wealthy elite.

Children Found Dead in Gemini Park
Two children were found dead in Galaxy City's Gemini Park late last night by shop keeper Barry Marlow. At time of going to press, police had no comment on the deaths.
Marlow gave the following statement: "They were so young. No more than 7. The monsters who did this deserve the death penalty!"

Guns Dont Kill People

Is Paragon City becoming the gun-crime capital of America? Recent reports suggest the answer is yes. In the kind of activities we normally associate with the neighbourhoods of New York or Los Angeles, gangs are reportedly resorting to drive-by shootings. The use of both conventional and high-tech weapons is on the increase as street gangs and criminals alike resort to ever more extreme measure in their quest for power and desire to suppress those attempting to curb their excesses.
This reporter has spoken to police in a number of precincts who have expressed concern over the rise in gun crime, particularly in the use of explosives and high-tech weapons systems. One officer, who wished to remain unidentified, said, Its getting like were going to need power armour and blasters just to do street patrols.
Where are these weapons coming from? No one is willing to say. There are rumours of weapons caches with company names on being confiscated in several districts of the city. This reporter has been unable to find anyone willing to talk on record about the finds. However, with companies such as Longstaff WarTech, Huntington Technologies and Crey Corp. producing high-tech equipment and weapons in and around the city, one can but wonder whether some of their produce is making its way, into nefarious hands.

Gang Killings Rise Further
Independence Port was once again hit with gang violence as thirteen organised crime members were killed last night. Police are not commenting on the incident except to say that all the gang members were shot at close range. An off-record report indicated that the police were not looking for anyone in connection with the killings, suggesting that the murderer died in the attack.

High School Cheer Horror
Rising star of the Galaxy City High School's cheerleading squad, Georgia Young, was found dead yesterday evening by grieving parents. Parents stated that Georgia had had an issue with the use of performance enhancing drugs for some time and that they had thought she was dealing with it.
A police statement has implicated the new designer Superadine derivative, Charge, in the death. Statements made by the school administration indicate that there is no general problem with drugs of any kind at the school and that they were unaware that Georgia had any such problem.

Sticken Freighter Reveals Trade in People
Responding to a distress call late last night, Coastguard boarding parties discovered that the stricken freighter Southern Cross had a far from normal cargo. Twenty-three young women were discovered in a secret hold compartment along with one member of the crew who is described as 'assisting police with their enquiries.' Other crew members were found locked in the ship's galley. Several were badly wounded.
A Coastguard spokesman stated, "We believe they were attacked by a vigilante of some sort. We discovered weapons aboard the ship which had been fired recently. Some of the wounds were severe, one of the crew, the First Mate, is in hospital in critical condition. The women found on the ship were malnourished. They were taken to a secure hospital facility and will be repatriated as soon as possible."

"Police in Paragon City are on high alert today after an incident at Skyway City precinct last night. The precinct was in complete lockdown for several hours after what has been described as an 'attempt to infiltrate the building by an empowered individual.'
"Our investigations have uncovered that someone impersonating an FBI agent attempted to gain access to important files. When confronted the individual apparently vanished."
The presenter shuffles a paper for a second to add dramatic pause. "It is currently believed that magic was involved in the escape, but police are not ruling out mutant abilities.
"And now, Anna with the traffic..."

President of Oceana, to stand trial at The Hague.
The apparent mastermind behind a plot to kidnap U.S nationals, is to stand trial before the U.N council in several months time. The country of Oceana, has had a turbulent albeit brief time on the world stage, appearing early in the year, it quickly established itself as a key point for shipping.
A peace keeping force of U.N forces and Longbow, are currently occupying the island, until a new government establishes itself.

Police Injured In Accounting Firm Investigation
Several police officers remain in a critical condition after a fire fight during an investigation at Maxington Accounting in Galaxy City last night, it is currently unknown who the attacking party was, though one of the officers had this to say.
The air crackled, like you get when an electric meta is around, you know the feeling right before a thunder storm? Well I thought we were getting some back up, the next thing I know there is this horrible boom and we are all down.
Maxington Accounting were without comment on the issue, though it is understood they have been cleared of any involvement.
Police are warning the citizens of Galaxy City to be on the lookout for strange activity...
