Why is there only one "superpower" scrapper primar
Spines are an everyday weapon? Do you carry signs warning people not to embrace you?
If you are looking for elemental melee you have to look at tankers and brutes. So, if your concept says 'whacks enemies with elemental flames' you already have access to the powers to make it happen. You just should not pick a scrapper.
If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.
I do kind of see what your getting at H2. But on the other hand nearly all of the scrapper primaries and secondaries were unique until villans came out. You couldn't get them on any other AT.
Most people have been asking for energy mele for scrappers for ever, I would like to see a couple of the brute sets coming over to scrappers elec definately. I think the problem is if you just swap the sets over to the scrapper, they become horribly unbalanced due to the scrappers base damage mod.
But fingers crossed for I11 or I12 or I13....
It is a Scrapper problem at the moment IMO. Basically, Spines and DM apart all the scrapper primaries do lethal damage, which is highly resisted in the later game. Dark melee does mainly Smashing damage, negative energy isn't that widely resisted, but the component is relatively low compared to the smashing part. Spines does some toxic damage, but again it's relatively low.
I'd love to see a Scrapper set that does 100% of some other damage type, especially Energy, Fire or Cold. Hopefully the Energy blade choice on thepowerset poll will come true. I can't help but think that Dual energy blades would rock though

Many and varied!
@Miss Chief
Martial arts is about as superpower as you get. Theres been a bazillion MA scrappers in comics.

To a lesser extent it also affects Tanks. Stone, SS, Axe, Mace are all S/L dmg.
I would think that the conversion of current mele sets (nrg, elec) to scrapper primaries would be easier than designing new sets. Having said that, a lot of people would whinge about there being nothing new if that was the case...

The primary damage type for spines is lethal but MA is smashing.
BS doesn't seem to suffer from it's widely resisted lethal damage... It still splits skulls like a hot knife through butter.
energy melee on scrappers.... hmm perhaps if they designed a new enrgy based set specifically for scrappers. And by that i mean not just changing the names of the powers but actually designing a new power set altogether. I only say that because the line between stalkers and scrappers is already kind of blurred (Bracing myself for a damn goood flaming to) and i would like to see the gap widen a touch. really i would like to see the power sets separate a bit more across the board.
Elemental damage based sets would be interesting. But the thought of my hands turning to a block of ice every time i swipe at a bad guy doesnt sit right somehow. Perhaps a power set based on devine power as opposed to the netherworld.
Energy Sword, Electric Hammer, Psionic Weaponry were amongst the new ideas suggested by Positron in that poll. There's definately more sets coming for Tankers/Scrappers, hopefully in the next issue.
Personally I'd like any good Single-Target set with Build Up that isn't based on Smashing or Lethal damage.
Id like any good AoE set (we only have spines) that doesnt unbalance the game by doing relatively unresisted damage!

Problem with psi weaponry would be that either the damage output would need to be lower than any of the current scrapper sets or be split into part SL/part Psi, and you would struggle vs Arachnos, Council Robots, a lot of the praetorians etc
I think the best we can hope for is something SL plus energy
Not necessarily:
e.g:
Telekenetic Thrusts / Crush could do smash damage
Summon a "Psionic Blade" Psionic / Lethal damage (Bit like the three fire sword powers)
Could also include (and probably should) some very low damage mez powers (like a stun, or maybe a fear or confuse)
"Psychic Drain" from the dominator set could sit in this set - and its not a damage power.
I imagine that they are contemplating "Mixed damage types". E.g. Electric hammer would do smash / energy damage, and Power sword would do energy / lethal.
I have more serious concerns about new power sets. They wont add any new flavour to the game.
Didn't "Ball and Chain" came first in the poll?
I guess that one will be smashing based though
I am not sure anyone knows what actually came first out of both the American and European Polls combined leaving things as a bit of a surprise. Id personally want the Psionic Blades, if its like Claws but a single blade Ill scream XD. What I wouldnt expect to see with it is a build up or a follow up.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
There's an interview in this month's PCZone where they say they're working on new powersets for the next issue, so I'm pretty sure there will be new ones in i11.

The Build Up power for Psionic Blades will probably be something like Soul Drain from Dark Melee. At least that's what I would like to see in it.
I really don't want Energy Sword to have been chosen.
For a start, it'll just cause an -endless- cavalcade of shoddy jedi rip-offs.... but I suspect it'd just be a mix of the Katana/Broadsword animations and powers with some energy damage tacked on.
Same goes for any kind of bladed thing or daggers. I was disappointed by those Vanguard guys with the big green punch dagger things when they turned out to basically just have Claws.
Even just getting some of the Brute, Tank or Blaster melee powers would be good.

There shouldn't be one - it's Psi damage, is good enough as it is.

Kerensky: this has nothing to do with underwear
Zwillinger: I put on my robe and wizard hat...
Synapse: I had to resist starting my last post off with "Yo dawg!"
Or maybe a Build Up in the fom of Soul Drain (or similar) but boosting accuracy primarily and dmg just a bit since boosting psi dmg too much might be a tad overpowered.

In PvP maybe, but when Psi is resisted in PvE it is resisted very strongly. Build Up would be good to have then.

It is worth mentioning, however, that The Carnival of Shadows are weak against Lethal damage, as are some of the Devouring Earth minions. In fact, some of the nastier Devouring Earth minions (and up) find Smashing damage to be a problem.
It's all a matter of balance. As a Scrapper, the utility of the role is to hit things repeatedly until they fall down. Also, running into mobs screaming. I find it fun and exhilarating.
If I want to do exciting things with Fire and risk losing my neck then I'll play a Blaster; whose burst damage just might let them live to see another day.
We may not get 'super' element powers but we do get a fast attack rate. I would like to add here though that Scrappers need love in the 'Epic' department. I cannot remember who suggested the set before, but Sonic Mastery sounds like a scream... ahem!
y?
It seems that scrappers can choose from a variety of everyday weapons ... and darkness.
I find it odd that there's no energy, fire, ice, radiation, etc. in scrapper primaries. Why not? It's limiting on the variety of scrapper backstories. Even just one or two of these "superpower"-style powers would be good.
