OK, well having had a play on test; during an air raid, you can forget about any zone RP!

If anything it'll give people a central focus for their characters.

The War Zone will be a good place for bitter rivals to put aside their differences and start working as a team. Maybe even add to the drama a little.

I do see Pocket D being a little busier though..

Why?

The chances of meeting your bitter non-Rikti rival in there are next to none.

Unless it's planned, it would be a very great coincidence...

And aside from that... what's to stop you from letting the other go down in an ambush?
What's to make them team up... at all?

I'm honestly curious what people's views on it are.

Its true many heroes and villains will find it hard to put mistrust aside in order to cooperate. I certainly wouldnt put it past some villains to forget to shout duck until after Rikti plasma fire takes off their hero rival's head. However circumstances are meant to be dire enough that former rivals will work together in the interest of survival.

The Immorality League's Big Lunk has something in the pipeline, that im going to help with to help forge a sort of understanding between the hero, and villain communities just as things start to kick off. Hopefully once done it will encourage some great IC hero/villain teaming.

So all il say for now is watch this space!

Having someone who keeps periodically feeding me with random snippets of new information regarding i10, I'm personally rather intrigued by the idea - both by in and out of character possibilities.

It's currently fairly high up on my list of reasons why I need to find the time to get back to playing City of Heroes regularely. It hasn't quite been that successful yet, but hope is the last thing to die, eh?

Seeing her origins and disposition, I don't think there'll be a very large visible effect on Warrior Seraphim/Kanae - being an artificial construct made for combat purposes, she's natively somewhat more pragmatic about life and death, seeing it more as a concept of respect than a monumental loss.

If she's around, I forsee the possibility of making it just a little more obvious that she isn't quite human.

Hmm... I've come up with an interesting plot for my main to be doing during the invasion... Look out for fiction when it starts!

Oh wonderful. Looks like I'm not going to be able to ignore this like I did the Requiem thing...

Certainly the point people have made about important services being withdrawn is important, the Scotbot will need to be recalled to protect SCC's assets...

I can see it now, a small army of Rikti buried under millions of newly-created kittens.

Yay! Finally a fellow nay-sayer!

Ah well, I think I'll indulge in some displays of Gid-like powers in some stories... as I would probably never do so IC in front of others...

GX-Neo's systems have been patched to prevent the bug that caused the overzealous giving away of kittens. However this has brought to light a new problem with monkeys, sometimes undead.

The Scotbot would have to go because of what it is. It'd be unworkable in the situation. It's a comedy character containing two over-the-top devices, the IID and a large H-Bomb. Not exactly going to be able to accurately depict the effect of causing the bomb to go off... And it can't use the IID to turn all the invaders into soap bubbles, because that's outwith my control...

Yes, I am a nay-sayer! I've tried to avoid plots since the RHU, and the 'Heroes for People' thing when I last left just hammered that determination further...

Maybe having a 'Rikti War Stories' thread, or can use the exisiting IC stories thread.

Getting back into the swing of playing CoH now, will probablly desub WoW and resub my second account.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think a Zero Hour thread might be cool. Have people post a short piece showing what their character's reaction is as the invasion kicks off.

Unfortunately, whilst RP only plots can be ignored without too much effort; something happening in the game universe, especially something as large scale as a global invasion, can't be.

I think we're ALL going to have to make adjustments to our characters from I10's launch, as even when the initial world event is over; random zone invasions will still be triggered by people doing the TF in the RWZ.

Eventually, a new status quo will be established; but it's going to be a more war centric one I'm afraid. The Rikti aren't going away this time.

You can ignore cannon. you can run from it. you can avoid it.
But you cant stick your fingers in your ears and shout "WHAT INVASION!?!" over the sound of the bombs

and it would fit our plans nicely. MUHAHAHAHA!<cough>

Looks like I10 is the deathnell for the line of Scotbots...

And like I said earlier, I know I'm not going to be able to ignore this. I'm just not going to enjoy it. Might even reduce my RP choices to zero... C'est la vie. Come back just in time to leave again.

Don't see it as a reason to stop RPing, Kelvin. Embrace it and see it as a chance to try different kinds of RP! In the face of war, humour becomes even MORE important! Battle weary heroes NEED to be able to relax and unwind after a hard day at the front. The Scotbot could easily serve those needs if you're so inclined...

One or two of my characters will be removed from play for the duration of the main invasion event, for IC reasons. Others will embrace it and revel in the combat.

Of my active characters: Spear, Yukon and Ontario would go back to Canada. Mikhail Romanov would be inclined to return to Russia. For any of those 4 to do otherwise would be against character.

The Scotbot would be withdrawn to prevent its destruction or the possibility of the technology being stolen.

It's not that I'm not necessarily open to new ways of RP, just had I wanted to be in a war game, I'd have bought a war game.

Unfortunately, that's something we ALL have to adjust too... I can't say a constant war setting is what I was looking for either; but it's the direction Cryptic have decided to take, so I'll go along and see where it takes me.

Alien invasions are something that happen in a comic book world, along with massive disasters, destruction of cities, etc.

Perhaps your character's tried to return to thier home contries to fight the invasion but where prevented by Rikti air superiority.

Or perhaps they decided (or where ordered) to fight the invasion at its epicenter in Paragon City.

As for the Scotbot, the rikti already have advanced technology, I doubt any secrets they could learn would be significant enough to warrant it's withdrawl from service. As for the risk of destruction, what is it being presereved for, an even bigger threat theat than the total anihalation of humanity?

I really should do something about this signature.

I don't think we are looking at constant full scale war. The Rikti will eventually be pushed back and contained, with only the occasional breakout to contend with.

Oh I know that Praf, but it'll still be there.. In the RWZ and in random raids. Paragon will never return to how it was completely.. It can't. Things are much grimmer now!

well, i know that i have started to allow Drade to be able to fight in the war, after all his guild does have a prophecy about "Daemon appearing from the sky, and darkness covering the world" this could mean either the plot im doing or the I10, so i've thought ahead there. Plus Drade would always protect those who are his friends in the city, after all they are his only friends outside of the guild, and he hasn't got many in the guild.
