Well if it helps to give some idea, a broadsword scrapper can 1 shot me if they crit, and an energy blaster can snipe about 85% of my health

[/ QUOTE ]

Aye good point. Once AS has been nerfed so that it will not be possible to kill someone in one strike, I don't see there being much difference between any damage dealing AT with invis and a stalker, bar placate and being able to hit for critials when hided. A blaster can take my stalker down in less than 5 seconds if they know what their doing and I'm not quick enough.

Personally, i think Stalkers are far from over powered. I've spent a lot of time in Bloody Bay as my blaster, fighting all AT's, and to be honest, getting a good return on kills. I have met a lot of stalkers trying to hit their AS with not much success as even when they do hit, it doesn't seem to do a great amount of damage, and certainly isnt in the region of being able to 1-2 shot me.

[/ QUOTE ]
Having been playing a Spines\DA scrapper, I have found that I can be AS'd upto 5 times, and the damage is so minimal as to not hurt, the only way that I have been killed recently in Sirens Call is when I was teamed against.. Me Solo and 8 Villains all gunning for lil old me. needless to say, I don't feel that any of the Villains AT's are Overpowered in the slightest.. if anything I am still far far harder than they are.. I have been in a two on one fight, and still been the victor.. if you got borked by a Stalkers AS, then I can only assume you had fallen asleep at the keyboard.. and thus shouldn't have been in a PvP zone.. but since you don't get XP debt from a PvP death, why complain??

if u're alert in a PvP zone, then you shouldn't have too much trouble surviving.. only time that becomes a problem is when you have people with TP Foe and then loads of holds centred on you.

The best defence to use against a Stalker is to get a friendly Devices Blaster setting Trip Mines and stand still as bait near to the mines.. they're invisible to Villains, and a couple of mines laid in one place will easilly take a stalker out without any further work required

I think the thing is your facing stalkers with out S.O.s. Yes D.A. has a nice res and other nice anti stalker powers but as soon as you face a stalker in a team with S.O.s that knows what there doing you will be singing a different toon.

P.S. this is by no way a nerf stalkers post as I know we are very well blanced. Its just a dont get to cocky post as that will kill you faster than an AS strike.

My AS is at 100% and if I Focus Chi and pop an enrage, believe me..you'll feel it (If I hit )

I agree - and to further the cause of the Stalker (for I am one! ):

The ATs in CoV, imho, gel in a different way in teams than CoH. As a stalker I get crit bonuses for held and immobilised opponents so I love Dominators and Masterminds (who also take a LOT of aggro, meaning I can wait until Hide has regenned) - In turn I can benefit a Corruptor by seriously damaging a foe thereby activating Scourge.

And, of course, I like Brutes cus they have Rage! Rage rocks

So, Stalkers may appear to be overpowered but in teams our roles change slightly from Solo (where we do shine a little bit!) and, of course, we're not so good at healing and defending!

Sorry - got the wrong end of the stick on this post!

But still, I have a big mouth and will shout - Don't NERF Stalkers - PLEASE! - to anyone who'll hear it.

We are very squishy and I'm sure a Temp Power such as 'paintball' will put an end to untargettable Stalkers.

If in doubt, chuck a grenade at us or nearby enemies as we always seem to be hit by 'em and lose our precious Hide!

Teh day will come when they get nerfed but not in the way some consisitently whinge they should be! Take away AS then whats thier point? what next? defenders on the front line? corruptors and blaster loosing damage and range? Tis silly very silly and very one sided

/e shakes head in dispare

I wonder of folks actually read the blurb on AT's?? Stalker implies stalking - lurking - sneaking and they have the audacity toendulge in such practices
erm D'uh. Clear mind and leadership help you to see them and AS dinny always hit so their left exposed (lowHP remember) AoE's knock off hide the list goes on.....
(i heard a blaster moaning the other night @ a stalker who then pointed out the fire AoE does the above - said blaste then complained he never had it! Think over next respec if ur going for a PvP build whats good in PvE isnt always in PvP and vice versa)

We have all felt the nerf bat and are all still here - stalkers will be to. Its a great AT built more for PvP than PvE gratned but PvP is a huge part of the new set up. Its gonna be a case of Heroes thinking a lil more outside their comfort zomes and respec'ing for PvP as a lot have BTW its not a win win for stalkers or for vilains. Its really unfair to demonize a whole AT just 'cause YOU cant beat it.

I know this was a few post back but i diditn get a chance to respond to Knightingale - the pro stalker post are not just from stalkers and I didnt misunderstand you it was misleading which side of the fence you were actually on if indeed a side you were which is why I wrote what i did.
In all this negativity its hard to keep up with folks views sometimes.

^ Well said Ana...

I get tired of people complaining about Stalkers running away when they aren't even built for CQC, like you said, that's like asking a Defender to fight a Brute using only Brawl!

At the end of the day, Stalkers aren't perfect and a nerf is not needed, heck bug fixing is need if anything.

I sympathise with stalkers, I really do, the players are doing exactly what the AT was designed to do, but when two of them working in together can bring down a scrapper before he even knows they're there, there's something wrong with the AT. I got brought down once, an SR scrapper I was on with got brought down several. There's no real drama and this is not a whinge and I do have a solution.
To see them I need IR goggles, to stop them getting away I need web grenades, but the villains are winning in Siren's Call and none of these items are available.
Now, I hate the nerfbat as much as the next guy and would suggest, rather than nerfing Stalkers, that the tools to compensate, not just stalkers, but everyont, be available to everyone, villains and heroes regardless of whose winning.
Before anyone accuses me of anything consider this; there are 4 melee ATs, tankers, brutes, scrappers and stalkers.
Which AT other than stalkers can, if working in pairs bring down a member of another AT in under 3 seconds. Hell, even 2 scrappers, arguably the big hitters in the melee stakes can't bring down a "squishy" stalker in under 10. A stalker can more than withstand 2 strikes of the scrappers biggest attack.
The bottom line is this; take two of ANY AT other than stalkers and set them against a scrapper and you get a good fight. The scrapper may lose, will probably lose, but at least will go down fighting. Put him up against 2 stalkers and he'll lose before he can lose off an attack/heal/whatever.
Now I imagine the situation must be worse if you've got a squishier AT and the question I have to ask is simply this; how is this fun?
If you cant see them until they launch their first attack, there's no one can that can confer a perception bonus and there's no IR goggles to be had then you're at their mercy.
So, to reiterate my suggestion, make the likes of IR goggles available all the time, rig them such that you can see them, but maybe can't target them and you can at least have a fighting chance of avoiding the dreaded AS.
I'd like to point out that the nerf to ensure that an AS doesn't kill in one shot will still mean that two stalkers are death on a stick to most ATs.
But perhaps I'm being unreasonable, perhaps what we need is a proper discussion about how to defeat them with the minimum possible team - I've seen plenty of discussions talking about someone with tactics, a controller to stop them getting away, tp foe to bring them back when they down a bf and big hitter to put them down as fast as possible, but I think we need a thread that explains how to defeat them, or at least, what stalkers fear.

Simple and false. "Good" only goes as far as in-game physics allow. Name the scrapper attack that does more than half the stalkers hit points in damage at lvl30. Remember, you don't know when he's coming, you can't charge it up with half a dozen damage insps and you only get one hit.

Apparently you havent met good scrappers.Have a word with Chives i suggest or maybe Slim Shaolin they can give you some tips.Game physics has nothing to do with being good. Its all about the player.2 scrappers with the perfect PvPbuilds one totally new to PvP and one really experienced PvPer...the first will survive barely or be cannon fodder the second one will rip the place apart.

been there, done that, lived through, kicked their you-know-what but that might just be me.

bout the 2 ATs taking out a scrapper? Hm i'd reckon a good spines scrapper would be able to dash some nice dmg. However you arent really comparing it very good.
The "you dont know hes coming" is what stalkers are all about. If you would know he was coming I think you can easily take him out in a few hits if you got 2 heroes.

Also just think of the trouble the stalkers have to go through if 2 stalkers BOTH have to fire up an assassin strike to take down a scrapper. Now I would think the scrapper was moving so timing those 2 AS would be a pain as well.

On top of that, it might have something to do with the scrapper's slotting as well. I often team with a DA scrapper, and he got double ASed once yet he lived. Course I dunno what slotting the stalker used, but it's to prove that this might just be a 1-time scenario.

Maybe you want to consider that scrappers can also use stealh powers and got more opportunities to do crits than stalkers? If 2 spines/DA scrappers with their cloak on attack from the shadows, does that also mean that they should nerf the cloaking so you can see them coming?

I have fought plenty of stalkers, and not only with my tank. I know I might get stabbed in the back a few times and die instantly. Thats the risk of fighting stalkers. Once you got teammates with auras or perception powers, you'll see they arent that strong really. However I see nobody complaining when they get the chance to beat up on that squishy stalker =\

Soz bout the rant, but thats just my 2 inf

No my question stemmed from the fact that two assassins strikes are enough to bring down just about everything except a tanker (and maybe a brute, I don't know). 3 seconds is enough time to launch a SINGLE attack. Which other AT can do this? Is that clearer.
My original question was accurate, maybe you just didnt understand.

Well, good news, there's already a plan to nerf AS!

Bad news, don't think it would save you in the situation you describe.

Basically, Cryptic don't want Stalkers to be able to 1-shot other toons, but since this one didn't, it wouldn't have saved you. And since, apparently, Cryptic don't mind if a Stalker can take you in two hits, yes, they do think that what happened was fair.

[/ QUOTE ]

errr, the only way to 1hit someone is to use build-up then AS now that requires 2 attacks and for the victim to stay still long enough, and just because you got killed by one easily doesnt mean they gotta be nerfed.........so stupid...

think if AS is lowered in dmg, not only will it afect them in pvp and lets face it they can use any other attack cuse attack power+speeed etc just isnt good enough, BUT also missioning will be harder than it already is...

aaaaaaaaaanyway u can get stalkers with one Clear Mind from a defender, just use ure brain and get something with preception etc, one cm cna see through both my hide + stealth sooo..... anywho anrgy tyl finished

Havent got high enough to use my stalker in pvp but in pve i find myself running away a lot. My defender got attacked by a few stalkers, they seemed to leave me alone once i turned on repel from kinetics. Dont know if repel stops an assasain strike, but i guess it would make any follow up impossible.

(Power Boost + Aim + Build Up +) Total Focus*2 (Energy Manip)would be the best two Blappers could manage in a single attack. Thunder Strike (Elec Manip) might do the trick too. The disorient effect might even punch through status protection, and let's not even begin to wonder what would happen if Defiance were in effect.

But, in the same amount of time it takes to fire off TF, you can activate Energy Punch and Bonesmasher (and then another attack on top, but let's move on) - which will also bring down a minimum of 4 toggles if they connect, coming from a pair of Energy Blasters. As it is, A+BU+EP+BS from a lone Blapper will down a Stalker.

Needless to say, none of the above examples can be interrupted, unlike AS.

I'd say you were the one not understanding - if you mean "single attack", say "single attack"; if you mean "three seconds" say "three seconds", it's pretty simple. As it is, it's pretty obvious you're not here for a discussion - you're here to whine, and nothing anyone says will convince you.
