My first night playing I6...
They dont give a [censored] about you mate, they know this will eventually all blow over as the die hard opponents leave the game and are replaced by new blood who don't remember any different.
They don't give a [censored] about your enjoyment of the game, or the hours you have invested in your character. They couldn't care less.
What kind of tanker are you? Inv, fire, stone, ice? How are your primary powers slotted? I can't play until next week (out of the country at the moment) so I'm following tankers' I6 and ED posts very closely in the meantime

MBar's seemed alright in I6 so far, played a good bit in the I5 build. Respecced now to an I6 build and need further testing before making my mind up.
More and more I become convinced there were existing Damage, Resistance etc. caps within the powers that we simply were not told about. I think I'm taking more damage in I6 but I cannot be sure. And that is surely a good sign.

Well i can tell you that i have a lvl 50 fire tank to be honset i dont think i will be playing him again, its just a joke first they nerf burn and i know many of you out there will say good but it was the one and only good power imo on the fire tank, and now with ED both my fire and plasma shileds are a waste of time.
Its not just fire tanks that have been hurt by all the nerfs all tanks have imo, what they have done is for pvp (no matter what statesman says ) so unless things change i doubt very much you will see many more lvl 50 tanks around.
Well speaking for my main, a level 38 Invul tanker, I'd say it's fairly obvious that the whole point of I5 and I6 has been to neuter the power of enhancements in the later game, to the point where they are at the DO and even TO levels.
By making this a more offensive game (no jokes), they reduce the importance of damage mitigation in PvP, introduce ample room for the crafting of temporary defensive powers (making the newly introduced loot very valuable to the playerbase) and profoundly slow down the rate of leveling in the later game.
More time online spent levelling, crafting or PvP'ing = more money for NCSoft. The bottom line I'm afraid.

I suspect fire tanks have been hit in much the same way as the other power sets thanks to ED, but fire/fire is the most offensive of the tanker builds, you can still do more damage than everyone else, but your already (comparitively) weak defenses have been taken down that chunk, just like ours have. I think the burn changes could've been worked around, or only used in corners (if they won't jump to get away that is) but meh, I've never used it so I couldn't really say.

I still enjoy the game. It's a little depressing to see all these people fold like a cheap house of cards. I'll miss playing with guys around, but I aint gonna stop playing it. It's almost like you want other people to feel the way you do.
I'll not argue why I like Issue 6, cuz I know I cant convince you. But please, try and keep the new posts to a minimum? There's plenty of threads around to vent your frustrations.

Speaking as someone who has taken a toon to lvl 50 the last 10 to 15 lvl were a grind but unless you were doing something wrong there were not many times that you felt like you really had to work for your lvls it was just a matter of being there. Maybe it might take a bit longer now but also we might get a great sense of satifaction out of getting to lvl 50. I know I didn't really enjoy getting there because it was long and easy. I would prefer longer and harder but hey thats just my opinion and I think you all have valid opinions yourselves.

It sounds like you aren't having much fun there.
The only thing I can think that you can do to make your tank more defensive is to get Weave and slot it with 3 defences , slot Combating Jumping with 3 defences. You may need to add a end red or two in Tough and Weave as they are more expensive toggles than Fire Shield and Plasma Shield.
Now some may say that 7% extra defensive is too expensive for a power choice. In response to that I would say that there is nothing else you can do to make yourself tougher so you should go for it.
The devs point would be that I5 and I6 changes were made in order to stop Invincible being the default difficulty. Try lowering your difficulty. However I know that other ATs do not need to lower their difficulty with I6, this is what irks me, as it means that the tank can't hold their own in other people's missions of the same level.
Now I have an Inv tank, we didn't get hit as hard as you this time ( although we got mashed last time ) as in I6 we still have the fighting pool to turn to. Our I5 builds didn't include it. Not being able to play the same way you did before is bad but as far as I can see you have 2 choices, abandon your character or adapt. Both of these are depressing.
PS Statesman wants us to be scrankers. How depressing.

Indeed.. I tried Hot Chills vs level 52 Nemesis last night helping a friend out on her mission ... O.o all I saw was MY DEFENSE drop.. luckily I sorted out Heal and Consume to recharge faster.. but DAMN... talk about slapping at one point I cud sit there and taunt em (liberally) now they 'hit back' lol tactics rethink methinky.. but was still fun

I have read a lot about tanker nerfs and, playing a tank myself, have first hand experience. I play a lv30 Inv/En tank and dropped out of CoH about 3-4 months ago. The reason I had dropped out was lack of challenge mainly. I remember a number of missions where the entriety of the rest of my team could get floored and I would still be in the middle of the vast group of enemies swing left and right. This always seemed odd to me; Yes, a tank should be the hardcore sonofa***** on a team but there is something wrong when I can go toe to toe with Luska for an infinite stalemate.
The first time I played with my tank again I was a little upset, I didn't feel super enough anymore, I got floored by stuff I could a least stand against before, and I felt I had been screwed over in some way.
This has changed now, I've been in some good teams and, with a little help from my friends (groan) I have been kicking serious booty again!
Yeah, I have to watch myself now; Yeah, I need to know a bit more about my limitiations.
I am a TANK. My job is to sit there and take it for as long as I possibly can whilst dealing out as much pain as possible to the evil doers that surround me. I now know that, if I get myself in trouble, it is just a matter of time before I go down. I have to watch myself, be careful, rely on support. I don't think, "oh, damn this nerf". I think "why didn't I bring along a blaster, or a scrapper, or anyone!"
I feel the changes have improved the need for team play... which is where the fun of this game comes from, I get very very very bored soloing.
With me and a fire tank back to back the other day with a defender, scrapper and blaster in support we were easily dealing with red and purples. I got mezzed (I even got floored once) but I had loads of fun... Risk = fun here guys.
No super hero can take anything (even superman met his end). No super hero is able to take on anything the world can throw without getting help from thier friends.
I feel this will tell more in high lev HvV. The villians work together only out of neccesity when they can't take it. Heroes support, heros have friends!
What I suggest for the fire tanks out there (and any others who feel they have been nerfed) is to find a group of good, intelligent friends and see how much they appreciate you.
Defenders will appreciate you more (poor guys, sitting back, waiting for stuff to go wrong). Blasters and scrappers will still appreciate the aggro pulling and you will come to love controllers.

So what you're saying Hippy is that you have to team. What if you don't want to? Now i'm not saying i don't like teaming - teaming is always more fun and if you can find a team then great. However there are many people who like to solo, also there are times you can't find a team. What you're effectively saying is that at these times you need to log off and play something else or quit completely. Yay. (Hippy not flaming you squire)
What used to be nice is that i could solo or preferably find a team. Importantly i had a CHOICE here. Now as a fire tank i've had my offence destroyed, my rez dropped by 23%, my health recharge dropped and my mez protection halved (i think). Solo if now no fun at all.
I agree that it was no challenge before against S/L foes but it was insane against psi foes. I always got annoyed at this difference. But simply cacking our defence/rez, mez protection and health was a little over the top methinks.

I guess I don't really think about solo play that much. I normally "go solo" (no snickering at the back) only up to level 8. And that is only as it is hard to find a mature team before then.
I suppose my, point, if any would be that I always found soloing boring. Partly because of the loss of interaction but also because (as an inv/en) the blasted legth of times I would spend battering people senseless whilst being in a non-perilous situation.
I think as a "pure concept" (rather than on game terms) the issue of peril is what makes a superhero superheroic. I like the more pathetic heros, makes victory all the more sweeter!
That being said I will go so far as to say that the devs went a little too far on the nerf. I think that enough to make it difficult (i.e. bars drop down to red/yellow in hard/big fights) would make the game interesting but not impossible. I feel that maybe they think that the vast hps of tanks is more of a benefit than it really is. With the number of foes we face at once we generally pull a proportionaly larger amount of aggro than the squishies to counteract the hp difference.
Maybe if the game seems to be heading in a damage cousing, rather than mitigation direction then there is another solution. Maybe give the tanks a higher natural regen than all other classes. This would only kick in though if the tanker was below a certain amount of health.. or not attacking in any way. This would solidify the tankers natural role of being damage soaks, stop the whining that regen scrappers are harder than tanks and decrease the amount of downtime if you, in your headstrong soloing ways, take on a bit much in a fight.
This isn't really thought through yet but with a little refinement I think something of this ilk could work.

Looks like an ok build except no build up. Thats a mistake IMO. Maybe leave taunt and get build up?
With the amount of AoE's you have you should be able to hold a large portion of the aggro in any team and hey lets face it, tankers cant really tank any more.

Actually I'd be curious to know how well I could solo an Heroic mish now. It used to be very slow before but now the three attacks I have are doing less damage. It's got to the stage where the best way for me to arrest something is put Stone Fist on auto and go make a cuppa.
I'll try running one tonight and let you know how long it takes me.

My tank is still soloable on Unyielding against Nemesis ( the only arc I've done any of since I6 ). However nemesis are relatively easy and my tank is a good solo and team build. If I come across any problem mobs I'll try Heroic and post them.

Dear Devs/powers that be.
Tonight I lied to a team mate. Tonight I told porkie pies to a team mate so that I could log off from COH and instead watch tv, or a few of the farscape episodes I have lying about the place here. Basically I wanted to do anything but play with my lvl 50 tank, and I needed an excuse to log out. I'd respecced him. I'd worked out a very solid rebuild. He was about as good as I could get him. But even so he now does less damage, he has a slower attack rate, and don't even get me started on his defences!!!
I was getting my [removed] kicked by a handful of red minions for goodness sake! Minions!!! Not purple minions! I wasn't taking the [removed]. Just half a dozen reds. And I'm popping purple and green insps like they're going out of fashion and thanking my lucky stars my team mate has empathy as his secondary.
ED is evil. ED is a knife in the back to all the gamers that came to this game for fun and PVE. And ED has made characters that have hundreds of real time hours invested in them unplayable.
400+ hours for my tank. Now a dead duck. But hey, thanks Jack! As long as this is all part of your *vision* that's cool!!! And thanks for nothing!
