I just respecced mr cuddles to take all the war mace aoes and shatter and crowd control now have much bigger cones (crowd control is 180 degrees!)
They also do knockdown instead of knockback... so war mace just became good again. -
Ice is fine- sometimes you can survive the most unlikely fights and other times your luck runs out and you die in half a second.
It's basically based on luck which sometimes runs out as you will know. So ice is not nerfed, it's still pretty good, just a bit more random in results. -
I currently have a psi proc in chilling embrace so when the patch goes live will it just stop working? Or will you just no longer be able to ADD a proc to taunt auras?
Shannon - I was just bored at work and was wondering about sets so thought I'd see what people thought on forums.
and PRAF - I have no problems holding aggro between chilling embrace, combustion and energy absorption and taunt. Also, I prefer a recharge and range in taunt..... and even if I did exemp, I still won't be doing much single target attacking so don't need or want any more single target attacks -
Those IO set enchancements are pretty achieveable on my limited budget so thanks for that.
If you feel like it, feel free to make a dream build. I doubt I will ever be able to afford purple sets but it would be cool to see what you could achieve with your ideal slotting, regardless of whether or not individual powers end up being a bit less effective. -

I am very happy with my build - currently level 40 and teaming regularly with a spines/regen scrapper and a trick arrow defender which as far as I am concerned is perfect for herding/aoe goodness.
Apart from the global defense buff from steadfast unique, I am not sure how to slot IO sets. Everything I try on the hero planner ends up making my powers less effective, and any defense buffs I can get from sets seem to be positional defense instead of typed defense which is what Ice uses so can't see a good way to boost my defense through sets, especially because when using sets, the power often ends up LESS effective than it was when using purely IO's
This is a pve, aoe heavy build. Any advice on sets gratefully received.

i used to get grumpy if im wasnt allowed to herd but these days i just do my best to keep em all taunted and hope for the best

it was a while ago.
i guess everyone is pretty much cookie cutter by now... another reason to hate pvp -
mostly flying through the air or trying to get up again
oh i have air superiority too by the way for added knockdown -
the builder is buggy some of those encs got messed up.
i hardly use taunt but when i do i want it to stick.... can keep aggro tight if the team gives me a few seconds.
I use fly a lot in combat cos it feels cool
and i want group fly for a laugh (doubt ill get to that high a level anyway) - dont feel i need hasten when the entire mobs will be dead after build up and two aoes (plus damage from others)

i hate pvp with a passion yet in the brief hour or so I have spent in warburg with mr cuddles I managed to kill several villains, and a few heroes by chaining knockup, knockback, and clobber.
i think it actually does have a bit of an edge in terms of single target damage and soft control, not as good as energy melee but certainly can hold it's own on a single target.
I dont know why you are so bitter about it really... mr cuddles is still my favorite character -

why are you getting so angry about this hammerfall?
I've got a lvl 50 mace tank and it's not the best but the disorients really help and the best thing is, it's pretty rare.
i dont have any real problems with it... the disorients/knockups, etcs help in survival.. not as much as em or ice sure but it still holds its own
it't not always about having the most effective min/maxed build...
war mace is fairly decent in my opinion, unless all you care about is being a cookie cutter MAXIMUM UBER build in which case, why the hell did you level a mace tank to 50 -

easy to solo with, easy to team with as long as theres enough damage available to take them down before they take me down
icicles and the fire aoes mean aggro holding is not a problem and taunt is there for the times you mess up a herd
air superiority is for bosses
chilblain will be for avs so can taunt and hide out of line of sight
i love ice/fire tanks -
mace has an ok disorient element which makes it better than it would be otherwise.
you can also chain knockup and knockback indefinitely on a single target which is great on bosses and in pvp.
make up your own mind by giving it a try... im sure you'll like jawbreaker for the animation which is especially fun if you catch a crey tank halfway through total focus.

and OVWyx... im not using any of the melee attacks in energy manipulation except power thrust, and that's only when i need to knock a stray baddie back to the tank, or just away from me.

Repulsion Bubble = Costs alot to keep running, drains about a 1/5 of your bar per 'hit' on an enemy, regardless of knockback or not - definatly more of a 'power if you want to have some fun' over 'power i need for using seriously'. On most builds i would advise against getting it, drains full end within seconds regardless of slotted.

Thanks for the replies, although smoke flash looks like a potentially great power which just screams NINJA!, I will probably skip it. Blinding powder however seems like a winner.
I suppose you get the critical hits off the sleeping enemies too?
