Ice/Dual Wield

Well, at least time passes but the forums remains the same.
Quiet ain't they! Especially around double xp!
I felt as though adding anything more than that link maybe like telling ya how to suck on an egg.

I'm not sure on how to take that second post.
Some asking around while in the game told me that ice was nerfed (though I only got something about Hibernate's duration (?) being lowered) and that Stone/Invuln was the new God of tanks thanks to those newfangled IOs tingies.
Ah, and that farming has become the new fad. Funny how the game was attractive due to being simple and grindless (barring leveling) but seems to have gone on the reverse route.
I'll ask in game what's the purpose of this farming for IO purposes, since when I last left the only thing left at 50 was to raid Hamidon. If this was WoW with harder and meaner raids one after the other I'd understand trying to become harder and stronger.
I think you got a lack of replys because there hasn't been any significant changes to tanks since issue 7. Don't believe anything anyone tells you in game. That was true before issue 7 and is still true today.
The only real change since issue 7 is the addition of IOs, and it would take a 20,000 word essay to explain those.
So far as I know there are no stone/inv tankers. If you mean inv/stone, I think someone was exagerating.
Oh, and hamidon got changed, so no one raids him any more.
I really should do something about this signature.

Ice is a good, challenging set to play and team with but should and could be fine for anything. I sense a wind up.

To "some" people the other types of tanks won't ever be god - like. To me they all are heroic.

I agree, I think if ya pvp its a good idea to super build otherwise IOs could be for getting a toon conceptually just so and for better paced fun.

Ice is fine- sometimes you can survive the most unlikely fights and other times your luck runs out and you die in half a second.
It's basically based on luck which sometimes runs out as you will know. So ice is not nerfed, it's still pretty good, just a bit more random in results.
ice is i think the only set wich slow has no effect on and is a realy good set. As for D/W was never sure it should have been a tank power set. However if its aoe damage your after from this set you dont real get it till a lot later. You get weaken as yuor 1st combo but this is prity pants tho it is an aoe of sorts. Onethousand cuts is when wd real gets fun its a cone attack but is also the start of sweep and knock down aoe attack add in the other real good combo of vital another cone and you have all the aoe type goodnrss you could wish for.(just takes 38 lvls for a tenk to get there) Just remember to slot a lot of acc tho :P If you which to go down the wd route either a scrapper or a brute would be my recomendation so you get all the attacks by 32.
Well, I've already went /fire and it was pretty sweet since the AoEs were decently low level. With DB I'm not being very enchanted by the fact, as you've pointed out, that I need to reach level 38 to get the second (and third) AoE. Not to mention that I need to take a bunch of attacks to get all the combos.
I suppose that taking Icicles might be worth it with a relatively spammable Empower. Anyway, I've played the game, and from all sets only fire and now DB has plenty of AoEs to spam. I wouldn't mind trying something else if all other sets weren't so single target focused with just one AoE thrown in. 90% of a tank's time is spent neck deep in big spawns, so single target hits seem a waste.
I confess I feel like rolling a second ice/fire but I'll see how it goes.
War Mace has just had it's AoEs buffed. I believe it has 3, now all with sizable areas.
Ice Melee has also had it's aoe damage capacity increase.
I really should do something about this signature.
I just respecced mr cuddles to take all the war mace aoes and shatter and crowd control now have much bigger cones (crowd control is 180 degrees!)
They also do knockdown instead of knockback... so war mace just became good again.
With only the teeensy weeny 'problem' that the first AoE of the supposed AoE set is at.. level 28, and the last at 38.
I don't know about you guys, but if I was to pick an AoE heavy set because I want to play in such fashion, having to wait until more than half my game play to even *start* doing so just doesn't ring right.
Personally, all of Warmace's AoEs should be available right at the start. Or put one in the first powers, another at the mid levels and the last at the last power.
Warmace seems pretty cool. I like KD and I like AoEs, it's a good combo. I'm not too bothered about damage since I'm playing with a team 90% of my time, my job is to keep them safe. But having to wait so long to start doing what I want from the set just keeps me away.
In the end I've re-rolled another ice/fire tank ^^ I liked my first.
Greetings!
After a year's absence I've returned since the game was so much fun. I used to play a ice/fire tank and really enjoyed the AoE goodness I could dish out.
Having heard that Dual Wield had good AoE capacities I decided to give it a go but I can't really find the combos. Though with my limited experience (level 4) I'm not sure if it's really that good for that purpose, considering there's a need to hit two/three times with long-ish animations before being able to unleash said AoEs and this provided if one of the moves doesn't fail, fizzling said AoE combo.
I've been gone since expansion 7, anything in particular which has affected tanks?
