What toon to blow my influence on?

I have a huge stack of influence and am itching to spend it on one toon. That means purples/uniques/PVP IO's/etc. The only problem is, I don't know which toon to use or if I should make a new toon and do it. I want to get the most bang for my buck and make one friggin' powerful toon.

So which one should I use it on? Here is what I currently have:

Lvl 50 Fire/Fire/Pyre Tank
Lvl 48 SD/SS/Pyre Tank
Lvl 42 Human/Nova WS
Lvl 50 Fire/Fire/Fire Blaster

Those are the only 4 I have that I think rare IO's would significantly improve.

I was also thinking of making a new toon specifically for this purpose, but I don't know what. Was thinking possibly:

Spines/Fire or Dark Scrapper
Fire or Dark Melee/SR Scrapper
Possibly some kind of controller or blaster

So what should I do?

Someone's a pyromaniac.

From what I hear, Shields benefits a lot from large injections of cash.

Blasters become pretty spiffy when IOed out.

This.
Don't waste money on a toon you don't enjoy.

I know my SS/Sheild brute did. But I've heard that on Tanks it's significantly less costly to hit the softcap.

Thats a personal choice my friend. It depends on what YOU want to do. Solo AOE? Team AOE? AV Killer? PvP?

Hell, I'm slowly Purpleing out an AR/Trap and I get laughed at all the time. But, hey, it floats my boat...It's all about boat floating around here....So what floats your boat?

This. When I saw the thread title, my immediate thought was "The fun one." I play one character more than all my others combined. His build cost like 900 million when I IO'ed him and would probably cost 2.5 to 3 billion today. I've never regretted it in the slightest. And I've never bought a purple for any other toon - it's not worth it to me.

Ok, another question then. I have a build for my SD/SS/Pyre Tank that would give me perma hasten at the expense of having taunt. Would I still be viable as a lead tank without taunt?

Depends how seriously you take the role of controlling aggro. You can certainly get initial aggro by telling your team to hold off a few seconds while you run into a spawn and brush by them with AAO, the taunt aura, running. You *might* be able to peel aggro from a teammate by using Fire Blast or Fire Ball.

Personally while I'm not especially bothered by my brute not having Taunt, even when he's acting as a pseudo Tank, I can't stand not having Taunt on my actual Tankers just because I feel like my main job is aggro control and Taunt is invaluable when you see the blaster across the room getting pounded on.

obviously i will jump on the "which ever one seems fun to you' bandwagon, because in the end, that's what counts. but being a major altoholic myself, that answer could easily be "any of the above, or ALL of the above". so with that in mind, my recommendations are;
fire/fire/pyre tank, alot of soloabilty there and maxing out the AoE goodness of this natural scranker will allow you solo so much high end stuff that the drops alone will net you more then you spend on him, so he will be good to fund the OTHER toons when you want to purp them.
although i dont have a high end blaster, i've heard soft capping ranged def on a blaster adds ALOT to them, sounds pretty obvious huh?, that it is worth the money and time, a hard to hit fire blaster would net you as much money as the tanker if not more.

so, although all of them would be worth doing because they are YOUR toons who you love (assumption on my part), those two would probably increase your income level enough to consider doing the rest. just my 2 cents. good luck.

Oh yeah, that was the time that girl got her whatchamacallit stuck in that guys dooblickitz and then what his name did that thing with the lizards and it cleared right up.

screw your joke, i want "FREEM"

And even more fun to play!

Back on topic, I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon and say whichever one you have the most fun with.

Personally it'd be the fire-fire-fire blaster but hey, that's my inner pyro speaking ;P

I wouldn't sacrifice Taunt for 'perma'-hasten. The recharge benefit you'd miss out on with less-than-perma would be negligible...but Taunt is pretty valuable when you're the lead Tank.

For most content, yes. For some high end content, particularly something like the Statesman TF, no. Really, I think that if you're envisioning yourself as "lead tank", Taunt is indispensable.

Depends... lead tank on what? Stf no, farming and most other content yes. This should start the taunt debate again though so I'll kick it off right, you're not a tank without taunt.

Maybe a Shield/Fire tank. Does decent damage, may not need a taunt if you kill'em fast. lol.

That's what i had, but my cousin went Fire/Shield scrapper. WOW. He's alot stronger. If i had to choose which to make stronger i'd go Fire/Shield scrapper. I could imagine with sets and purps... His only has commons.
