  1. I think I can put the SD vs FIRE debate to rest quickly.

I have a lvl 50 Fire/Fire/Pyre and a lvl 50 SD/SS/Pyre tank, both which have been purpled out with multi billion inf builds and both have been farmed with a ton. With the current state of buffs/nerfs each set have received, I can say without a doubt, Fire/fire/pyre wins out by a fairly large margin. Before the buffs to fire and the nerfs to SD, SD was definately ahead, I actually stopped playing my Fire/Fire because SD/SS was sooooooo much better, but after the nerfs, Fire/Fire is way ahead in the farming/damage department, so my SD/SS has been shelved.

Although, OP, if you want survivablity coupled with good damage go with SD/Fire or SS. If you want pure carnage go with Fire/Fire. My fire/fire can ticket cap AE missions of +3/+8 in 6 to 8 minutes, but has a hard time playing TF's because those AV's eat him alive.
  2. Ok good. I usually tab targets as is, was just wondering if the taunt aura worked like it was supposed to.
  3. I am working on a build that will give me perma hasten at the expense of taunt. Can I still main tank without it? Can I tank AV's without taunt?
  4. Ok, another question then. I have a build for my SD/SS/Pyre Tank that would give me perma hasten at the expense of having taunt. Would I still be viable as a lead tank without taunt?

  5. I have a huge stack of influence and am itching to spend it on one toon. That means purples/uniques/PVP IO's/etc. The only problem is, I don't know which toon to use or if I should make a new toon and do it. I want to get the most bang for my buck and make one friggin' powerful toon.

So which one should I use it on? Here is what I currently have:

    Lvl 50 Fire/Fire/Pyre Tank
    Lvl 48 SD/SS/Pyre Tank
    Lvl 42 Human/Nova WS
    Lvl 50 Fire/Fire/Fire Blaster

Those are the only 4 I have that I think rare IO's would significantly improve.

I was also thinking of making a new toon specifically for this purpose, but I don't know what. Was thinking possibly:

    Spines/Fire or Dark Scrapper
    Fire or Dark Melee/SR Scrapper
Possibly some kind of controller or blaster

    So what should I do?
  6. Current best bid is up to 800mil for 1 billion influence. Anyone do better than that?
  7. Can anyone help me out here? I need to transfer about 1 billion to virtue villains. Send me a message if you can help. Thanks!

Man, what's with the forum this week? All of a sudden we're getting a rash of questions that were answered like 2 days ago and then 2 day before that also. This has been discussed at length twice already this week. Flip back a page or two.

I think someone needs to bring it down a notch...it is only an internet forum, not life or death.
  9. Ok. The low levels are no problem as I am already lvl 37. This character was shelved for a while and am dusting her off and am going to devote my time/inf to her now.
  10. I am finally making a WS and after playing around on Mids, I see they can become very, very powerful. I have a few questions and would also welcome any tips if you have any.

    1. Is a human form only WS feasible? I was thinking of going human/nova or human only.

    2. What powers are most important to have slotted if I decide to go human/nova?

    3. Is perma-eclipse that awesome? I have the money to do it, just not sure if I want to or not.

I know I am missing alot, but slotting a WS is very overwhelming at times and I am looking for some direction to get me going.

One more question. Why do people try to become an ebil billionaire selling crafted enhancements? Isn't there more money and faster money to be made flipping recipes?
  12. @Dirk Divac

Sign me up and look for me if you are making a freedom/hero team. I have all level ranges available.
  13. Think I will play either Kin/Rad defender or Plant/Rad Troller.
  14. I need new Freedom friends. I'd like to join. I will get a toon up to lvl 14 by next Monday. It will be some sort of Defender/Controller, not sure the exact build yet.

Of course, this is only if you still have room for another!

I personally think the prices are getting too high. I see things that cost 1 million to craft selling for 7 million or so. With those kind of markups I don't buy enhancements anymore, I'd rather take the time to craft. I would pay a 2 million markup to not have to buy/craft, but 6 million is ridiculous, and this is coming from someone who can afford to pay it. Imagine all those players who don't have huge bankrolls. This is my personal experience and I know that YMMV.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Repeat after me: Those aren't prices you see in the last 5 sales.

That's what the last 5 buyers were willing and able to pay.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, thank you for that valuable market lesson. If I do try to buy crafted enhancements, I already price creep from about 2 million below the prices listed up to the price of the last sold enhancement. Generally, the price for the IO I am creeping on is higher than the last 5 sold. Again, this is my personal experience and again YMMV.

I am simply suggesting that ENH sales might be down because the sellers are trying to get too much inf out of the sale. When I am marketeering, my philosphy is that a quick sale for less profit is better than a higher profit sale that takes a long time.

I also understand this philosophy depends on what you are selling, for how much and how often you log in to check. My guess for the marketeer that logs everyday is that they would make more inf if they would sell crafted enhancements for below the last 5 sold. This would keep stock rotating and keep a steady flow of inf coming in. Items that stagnate and fill up slots are making you no inf until they actually sell.

  17. I don't flip enhancements, I flip recipes and I consider it flip worthy if I can make at least 500k per recipe, which would be 5 million per slot if I am selling 10 recipes in that slot.

I know it's against the law to talk about CO ideas that are actually good and apply them to CoH, but CO allows any player to take any name, with only global names being unique. That means there can be 500 "superdudes" running around, but of course they all have different global names.

That's really not a bad idea. There would be a lot less people running around with unnecessary periods, hyphens, l337, and substituting similar looking letters and numbers to get the names they want.

I'd wager it would cause A LOT less confusion than someone will undoubtedly come in here and claim.

And yes, I have read the numerous posts explaining the many different tools for coming up with a name, but... who cares? If Jim wants to be "Gothic Knight" then screw it! We're all tied to unique global accounts anyway.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with this post. Let us be who we want. Sometimes I do the same as the OP and make a character, can't find a suitable name and then procede to rage quit. Let us pick any name and tie them to our global accounts.
  19. To be honest, your fire/fire tank is not very good because you don't have enough money.

Fire/fire tanks are very inf intensive, but once you spend the inf, it can make them very, very good.

I have a lvl 50 fire/fire tank that I have spent about 700ish million inf on and he routinely gets compliments in missions about how fast/awesome he is.

A few pointers that, IMO, are necessary for good fire/fire tanking:

    1. Get tough and weave. If you combine weave, combat jumping, 3% steadfast unique and various IO set bonuses, you can easily have 15-17% positional defense to all 3 types. That is nothing to forget. Also with tough fully slotted and your shields, you will have 70% S/L resistance which will give you just enough time to hit another healing flames to keep you alive.

    2. Drop RotP, burn and temperature protection to make room for boxing, tough, weave.

    3. Endurance will be a beast, you will have 6 toggles running and will need to IO for recovery. If you can find someway to afford the miracle and numina uniques to slot into health, that will go a long way in helping you. On the same note, throw 3 slots into stamina, I know you only get about 20% enhancement out of the 3rd one, but you really do need it.

    4. Remember, your only damage mitigation is the ability to kill them before they kill you. With proper slotting you can get healing flames down to 18-20 sec recharge, which will keep you alive longer to kill the baddies.

Honestly, fire/fire tank was my first main and my first 50. I have run countless farms/TF's with him and have alot of experience in min/maxing this particular power combo. If you have any detailed questions, I would love to help. I can also help you make some cash in the market if that is needed to help get you on the right track. Just shoot me a PM and I'll help you out the best I can. Good luck!
  20. Maybe I wrongly stated what I was trying to accomplish here. I don't necessarily think making the mobs harder to defeat is a way to make the game more challenging. Perhaps the devs could make missions that aren't just:

    1. Enter building
    2. Find group of enemies
    3. Kill...err...arrest group of enemies
    4. Rinse and repeat
    5. Find boss, arrest boss, mission over

Maybe the devs could develop something within the current framework of the game that challenges the player base without making the mobs harder to kill.

Example: Make a mission where you have to rescue Mr. ? from the enemy in a certain time. Timer could start when first member enters mission. If you don't rescue him in time, you attacked by huge ambushes of mobs. If the mobs defeat you, you get transported to the basement of the room, where your party is in jail. Once in jail, you have to do the requisite break out, find Mr. ? and rescue him still. This could all be avoided if you beat the mission under the clock as well. Maybe just having more dynamic missions with different possible outcomes could make the game a little more challenging.

Is it possible? I don't know.
  21. My difficulty slider stays at Invincible/lvl5 after I hit lvl 22-32, depending on the toon, so I don't think that is necessarily the response I was looking for.

What other ways can we make the game more challenging?
  22. The new enhancement system? I haven't heard anything about that. Care to elaborate or point me in the right direction to find out?
  23. I know that D3's can tankfend very, very well with their combination of debuff's and immobs, but can any other combinations do it? Has anyone tried it before?

I was playing with Mids the other day and came up with a FF/Rad/Power build that achieved 40% positional defence to all and 70% resistance to S/L. Would this be enough to absorb alphas? I was thinking with that kind of def/res + rad's -def debuffs, I could be a tanking/debuffing SOB.
  24. Well, now that dominator buffs have rolled around, I am planning on starting a new dom. Any suggestions on fun combos? Overpowered combos? Challenging combos?

I have played Ice/Ice to lvl 38 and Earth/fire to 35 so I would rather not play those combos again. Anything else is fair game...
