Aaaaaaaaand once again I'm disappointed in this new Iss--
*cough, retch*
Sorry, still stuck in Hate Everything mode. Awesome pics of the new animations for MA and especially SS I second the motion that Dawn Strike be given a fist-slam too. It's only fair. And badass. But mostly fair. With badassery.
Doom.
Yep.
This is really doom.

That Fist slam for footstomp is awesome. Definitely going to be using that for my SS characters.
Thanks! I like the new Foot Stomp.

Some particulars are left out of certain sets (no yellow ice patch, no bloody ice...). People will whine but then that's better than the alternative

I can see why no yellow ice, but what's wrong with red ice?

We want ice to look like 'ice' and because of how the FX were created when you apply a very saturated, non-cool hue to them they no longer look like ice and instead look like a cartoonish jewel.
Even saturated greens turn ice FX into emeralds, so we've had to desaturate the hues as they move away from the cool cyans/blues.
There's still reds, oranges, yellows, etc...but they're desaturated tints.

One of the basics of this games adaptability to the millions of character concepts we players have had over the years has always been, if there isn;t an exact power set for what your powers actually are, you can pick something similar and imagine it as what you wish. This in turn, is one of the main 4reason why things like color and animation customization is so wanted, to help bridge that gap betweem what your powers look like to everyone else, and what they are to you in your head. Why are you conciously trying to limit the players imagination?
Since day one of this game there have been people playing thier ice powers as crystals and/or gems, even more exotic magical and technological contructs.. As long as the power's abilities and general look fit thier concept it's been done. Sure maybe they'd wish it was jade green, or a blue diamond, a greyish transparent aluminum.. But now they are going to get thier wish.. or thought they were..
So what it the brighter colors don't look enough like ice, they look like some player would want them to look, and that is reason enough to allow it.
They only reason I can think to force someone to look like thier ice is ice would be some misguided thought that the appearance may fool someone in pvp that you have a different powerset that you have (a possible advantage? I dunno, I don't pvp enough for it to be a concern, personally). But honestly, ice, along with most powers, is unique enough in its appearance and effects that it is unlikely anyone could be fooled that way.

To BABs or anyone else in the know: Would it be possible with this tech to eventually have a setting for "random" or "cycle" where multiple animations are available?
Because I kinda would like to use both the stomp and the fist slam...

Whoa... hold up, BAB... will this be tied into the Desaturation FX setting in Advanced Graphics Settings within the game?
[/ QUOTE ]
No. "Desaturation FX" refers only to the thing that makes Flashbacks look like an old photograph at the start and end of a mission. Desaturated tints is just a name for a particular kind of color. (If you look at the two far right columns in the color picker... those are desaturated tints.)

I would actually like to have it a step further where you can weight the percent chance of animation a or animation b to occur.
I would make Brawl with Shield Defense never use the kick animation. Just the shield bash.

Aye. BAB set me straight. Just wanted to make sure that I-16 wasn't going to be implementing a whole bucket of graphical doom with the new goodies.
Be well, people of CoH.
MMs still have no Proliferation for their Primary, but that's because most of the powers still have to be made up on the spot.
Anyway, not sure what this really means, but if Ranged can be Proliferated to Assault, and Assault can be Proliferated to Melee, that does mean technically a port from Ranged to Melee is a Proliferation. Maybe an indirect Proliferation, and in this case there's probably not enough in Stone Assault to make a Stone Blast set, but I'm just laying the cards on the table. Taking a "theme" from one set type to another may not be Proliferation, but I still think it should be done.

I can't remember if you can change costumes every 15 seconds, or 30 seconds, but with Foot Stomp's recharge at 20 sec it should work if it's 15 seconds, and if it's not you can just change costumes every other Stomp.

Not every person wants to be flinging ice--some people, yes, want to fling emeralds or rubies.
