need a debuffer for tfs, etc
Sonic/sonic. Who needs -regen when you have massive -res? Or Rad/sonic, have significant amounts of both!
Rad/Son is always a good choice.
Cold, I feel, needs some love, because it provides some very nice buffs to your teams, as well as some very nasty debuffs for enemies, perhaps Cold/Son?
I've become very fond of Thermal, as of late, so perhaps a thermal controller would be a good route to take, I know that whenever my Ice/Therm corr gets brought out the team has a very easy time doing anything, pair it up with Fire/illusion/Mind and you've got good damage potential, with Earth/Mind/Plant and you'll have good control potential.

Tankers : Ice/Ele, Fire/SS, Fire/DM, Invul/Fire, Ele/Stone Corrupter : Arch/TA
Scrappers : DM/DA, Kat/SR Brutes : Fire/Shield, Ele/Fire(Villian)
Controllers : Fire/Kin, Ele/Rad, Earth/Cold
For ultimate TF ownage, I suggest a cold/sonic. Cold's defense buffs have obvious value, while sleet will speed up fights against enemy groups and sonic blasts will speed up fights against AVs. If you're looking specifically for something to speed up killing time though, I suggest radiation, storm, or kinetics paired with the sonic blast set.

i have four types of Dark Miasma Defenders past the mid-30's: Dark/Dark, Dark/Rad, Dark/Archery and Dark/Ice. i enjoy Dark Miasma's combination of debuffs to damage, tohit, resistance and regen with strong AoE control and a pet that's a debuffer of tohit, damage and regen itself. All of which makes Darks effective solo or teamed. You could say i took the above advice.
Then again i also like rad for similar reasons, but currently only have one high level rad Defender.
Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
Try Dark/Sonic too.... muahahah.

You want a debuffer for TFs, you want Rad/Sonic. It castrates AVs rather brutally.
Doom.
Yep.
This is really doom.
Just about about any /sonic defender will let you fill in that role pretty well.
Rad/Sonic will be a great addition to every single TF bringing it all from 1 to 50.
Cold/Sonic ends up as more of a powerhouse build I'd say with the insane levels of debuffs it can crank out. But waiting til 26 for sleet means you run posi synapse and sister without it.
Dark/Sonic has great tools early, it ends up a little safer than rad but Rad makes up for that safety with AM which helps keep everyone going in those pre stamina levels.
That being said leveling an Emp/Sonic and Cold/Sonic at the moment.(Both at 39) Wish my Rad/Psi was a Rad/Sonic and my dark/Sonic almost never gets played.
I rolled a kinetic/dark defender earlier. Having a blast.
Not too much in the way of attack damage early on, and a bit of an end issue until you can properly slot the powers, but it's a whole lot more fun than expected.
As someone stated earlier, play what you will enjoy playing.

- Dark/* has the heaviest -dmg/-tohit debuffs but lacks a debuff variety compared to other sets in favor of controls.
- Cold/* has the heaviest -recharge debuffs and best single target debuffing.
- Rad/* has all that variety but no specialized debuff, certainly not bad if you're going to stack it with other support sets but lacks the same impact by itself.
- TA/* best offensive debuff set because of Oil Slick Arrow, Disruption Arrow, and Acid Arrow. The downside is that the damage mitigation powers really aren't that amazing compared to other sets.
- Sonic/* doesn't have a whole a lot of strength on it's own and lacks a lot of variety, but shines pretty well when another support set is helping out. Also it is highly unlikely a team will ever reach the cap for -res debuffs.
-Storm/* similar to cold but trades buffs for knockdown + -Tohit and more AoE control.
- Kin/* you're honestly better off rolling a controller since there is hardly much of a difference going from controller and defender here.
[cough]Storm/[/cough]
Storm/ has -res, -def, -rech, -tohit and knockdown, plus damage from tornado and lightning storm. Its debuff values are generally higher than rad's. A well-played storm defender can turn an 8-man spawn to jello with ease. Has no -regen, but frankly you won't miss it. Tornado really takes a bite out of AVs.

If you're looking to debuff tohit primarily you can't beat a dark/dark defender... mine at level 50 can output a sustained -95.6% tohit debuff... before you even include Fluffy's contribution. Mine also provides roughly 12% defense (shadow fall & maneuvers) in addition to the tohit debuffs; a double whammy.
On the ITF I've been able to completely eliminate the offense Rommy and his puffballs deal. Add the -30% resistance debuff of Tar Patch and you've pretty well rolled out the red carpet for the rest of the team.
Rad's good, no question and I also have a 50 Rad/Rad; but for sheer focused debuffing though the D3 is better, and the potent tohit debuffs are safer. If they can't hit you they can't hurt you. On the other hand the Rad/Rad does solo better and it does better damage. Either is always a welcome teammate for difficult content. One is better at debuffing tohit, the other is a swiss army knife debuffer doing a decent job at several things but without the same focus.
