What one feature do you want most

I just got a new one.

I would like for the SG window to have a section where the leader can write notes. special ranks and stuff like that. I think that would be awesome.

Offline SG invites and promotions.

I REALLY disliked having to ask for help when I decided to delete my main villain, the leader of my VG, and promote that help to overlord so they they could promote my newbie.

I was lucky in that the player that helped me I knew to be a good person. Other folks may not have that.

Be well, people of CoH.

Shiny tights for gloves/boots. And hey look, we got that last issue.

Okay, Electric Melee for tankers. Oh, next issue you say.

Seriously, every feature I've wanted from the game will soon be implemented. I've wanted those two things since I started in Issue 3. I'm a happy camper. Now if I could just get some damned free time to actually play.

Actually, the seasons idea is kinda cool. Maybe even, if you can, tie it into the weather Rhode Island is actually getting, so Paragon gets the full 4 seasons, sometimes in one day. (Gotta love New England).

Revamped 1-20 content would be awesome too.

The random attacks I think would be cool to. Just having a 50' giant robot walking around and smashing buildings and stuff for Hero's to stop. Or villains attacking the city.

Something similar perhaps in Rogue Isles, though thematically that's harder to pull off.

There was one mentioned in the recent Rikti Invasion discussion thread, it would take a lot of work but would be awesome. Move time forward! Go back and update content and comments, the Rikti aren't coming back, they ARE back, and their invasion has been for the most part stalled and is now just open fighting contained in one zone area. Show us that, move time forward, keep it moving forward. Let the cities (Rogue Isles too) grow with the game.

The game is 5 years old, players have been saving Paragon for 5 years. Show that. Granted, this is, as said, a TON of work, but I think it would give a huge 'oomph' to the game too.

The ability to walk in game...seems silly but somthing so simple does add depth to a game overall, attention to detail. Much like the new sound effects when running and such.

Posted

The ability to sell these fine leather jackets when trying to infiltrate a 5th Column base.

Posted

Wraparound cloaks and jet packs.

The ability to WALK when the situation fits.

The ability to use glowing colours for our costumes that glow in the dark (sic).

No minimal team size for TFs with AVs scaling down to EBs, with the appropriate removal of TF-only drops, for all I care.

The removal of the atrocity that are simultaneous-click missions.

The reviewing of old content to update old stories to new events, and to update old missions to new maps and enemies. If I'm going to drop Outbreak off in Paragon City, I could at least be fighting the PPD rather than Longbow.

A change in the contacts writing style, both hero and villain, to make the narrative more proactive for our characters, rather than "Go there, do that, come back to me, me, ME!"

Oh, wait. You said one...

Complete revamp of all the old content, on both sides. Fix the celphone-number-giving issue blueside, either get rid of or heavily, heavily revamp the Hazard zones, give Redside some new zones (and access to the Shadow Shard- my brute wants the Rularuu axe without having to farm the same stupid mission over and over and over and over for the three bosses that spawn there >.&lt, fix the redside and blueside badge stupidities (Longbow, Outcast bosses and needing a PvP badge for an accolade, anyone?).

Fix the mission chains blueside; get rid of the 'we won't tell you anything until you've gone to see the Security Chief/PvP Zone rep/whatever other stupid thing we can think of'... or better yet, tie it in to Vet badges. The 3-Month badge makes it so you never have to see those people ever again.

Get rid of redundant contacts blueside- there's too many that give the same rather crappy quest mini-arc, and no real way of telling without memorizing who gives what.

I could go on, but I'm sure you get the idea.

Um... You don't have to. Do either Technician Naylor's second arc or Efficiency Expert Pyther's only arc and that badge will unlock the Rularuu weapons. Villains have it easy, it's heroes who have to suffer the indignity of hunting Overseers.

ONE??? I can't choose one feature, so I'll try to limit myself to two.

1) Completely destructible environments.

2) Weather. I want to fight in the rain and snow, dammit!

After the failure and horror that was Auto Assault I never want to see Completely Destructible Environments again. Honestly Paragon would end up looking like Boomtown.

As for the thing 2 things I want.

TF's no number limit (even if you don't down scale the AV, I duo and me and partner can take on an AV) and scour all the game to remove every last simultaneous click mission, especially the pain that is the 8 man Cavern of Transcendence.

So then leave it to instanced missions... OR even better, let people have MORE XP by helping to BUILD what others destroy and not give ANY XP for destroying things. That should balance it out.

Ah, here's ONE!

Introduce breakaway walls in missions. You know how they introduced doors that have to be clicked to open the path between two tileset pieces? Well, why not have WALLS that have to be DESTROYED to open the path between two tileset pieces. They don't have to have any more hit points than a Mayhem Mission bus stop or trash container (aka, one-hit kill) And they can just as easily take the place of doors simulating dead ends.

Think of it this way - you're walking down an office hallways and end up in a place that looks like a rec room dead end. Except, you can punch the wall and it opens up into an adjacent room, knocking down a couple of vending machines, say. Now imagine a string of small rooms lined by breakaway walls that you have to go through, Juggernaut style. Break one, enter the room, break the next, enter the next room and keep on rolling.

The technology for this already exists in the face of jail doors all over the place. Well, instead of a door frame with a destructible jail door on it, why not have an "frame" of indestructible, conventional wall with a blending section of destructible wall to serve as the "door." Or, to think more appropriately, imagine a large Mayhem Mission shipping container stuffed in a doorway. You can't pass through it while it's there, but you can break it and walk over the PhysX pieces it leaves behind.

Why isn't this technology being used?

Because tilesets aren't next to each other, they are on top of each other, and like, hundreds of "feet" away.

Um... Each tile in a tileset is directly adjacent to the one next to it. If they weren't, you'd fall into blackness. Each "floor" of a tileset isn't above or below any other floor, it's about 800 yards to the side on the same plane. If they can put a door between two tiles that you click on and it opens, they can put a "door" (or, heck, a door) between them that you shoot at and it breaks. So why haven't they?

Why then when I select a teammate in a mission on another floor and set them as a waypoint, it often says that they are X number of yards above or below me?

Never seen that happen. Every time I select a team-mate as a waypoint, it's 700-900 yards away from me horizontally. I've even caught a bug that showed me the map for all four floors of a Blue Lab map and they were drawn broadside-by-broadside in a row, I believe in an East-West orientation.

Regardless, my point was for breakaway walls between adjacent tiles where tile links are. Or, more simply, where those doors you click to open usually are. Now, imagine an office building. You come to one of those glass doors. But you don't open it, you PUNCH it, the glass shatters, the struts bend and you walk through anyway. Or, more interestingly, imagine walking into one of those rec room dead ends with the vending machines and little tables and so forth. Instead of turning around, you punch the wall, it breaks and you walk into another room (tile) just as though there had been a glass door separating the hallway from the room.

Or, heck, why not a hidden door? A door that looks exactly like a piece of wall, but when you click it, it opens. They really need to do more to make instances more interesting.

One?

I have one set of thoughts.. =P

1. Converting the ski chalet to a seasonal resort open 1 week four times a year -or- allowing a $5 micopay to give us season passes to said lodge. Either way, I'd love Christmas in July.

2. Player housing. I'd love to be able to click on the portal and see my SG listed at the top followed by alliances followed by "Your apartment". With all prestige earned going to both your SG and your personal home.

3. PvE Invasion raids inside of SG bases. I had a lot of fun this weekend with my Sg and others hosting a public Invasion event. And while I get a kick out of the Rikti forces swarming zones, I think groups who are not as interested in PvP (base raids) might enjoy sporeadic calls to arm.. to their defend their own SG base's interior. Perhaps giving items similiar to IoP's to earn and defend.

4. Chase scenes in Skyway and in Founder's Falls canals. Granted, this is pure silly fantasy but much like the Fire Chief who provides you a temporary backpack, there would be a contact who appears ever so often and could provide us with keys to a few models of motorcycles (Sky) and jet skis (FF) - both would show your character seated in the same sit animation. You'd be able to drive around pew'ing up the bad guys.

5. Revisions to make Mercy as pedestrian friendly and out of the box intuitive as Atlas Park. Within seconds, you have access to: the Tram, Wentworths, your first contacts, the inviting square where 50's have a reason to spend time with you before jaunting off to RV. AE building, etc etc. Mercy has these things at staggered heights and greater distances. I can see the appeal of new players feeling immediately comfortable in their new environment.

6. Expanded Sg functions. Offline invitations and promotions (with a "Accept promotion?" prompt or Option for the one being promoted). "Email copy entire SG" option with the leader able to select which ranks can use this. Two-way portal doors. Being able to choose an allied base rather than walking outside then back inside the allied base. Tailors, merchants, etc.

7. Refitting the kiosks to add bulletin board style announcements. Select: Server. Select date: Today > 1 month in advance. The author would enter: Date (drop down), time (drop down), type of event (drop down menu of say: PvP, Costume Contest, Raid, Public Party, TF, SF, etc etc), brief title typed in to narrow the subect (Say they picked PvP and added "Tournament" or TF and added "Master of LRSF" or selected "Raid" and added "Mothership"), brief description (character limit..and I mean letters not people :P).. with an automatic addition of author's character name and -global- so griefers will not have some detterent to listing events. I would not have wanted this before AE but since we have a system in place for other players to author just about anything.. why not? We can always petition anything inappropriate just like AE. I know forums offers this but I am of the impression that the bulk of the community does not read forums.

8. 8 man built in voice for teams =P

And the ability for level 45-50s to choose which safeguard/mayhem mission map they want to run would be nice, too.
