Thanks ChristopherRobin, that is exactly the effect I was thinking of!
-
I've been trying to get a "sunburnt" effect on a toon's skin with no luck! I've seen it done but can't figure out how it was accomplished! Anyone have any ideas?
-
Well, I'm definitely not married to Repel, it was just a case of "I've got to choose another power from a list of stuff I really don't want". Maybe drop it for combat jump?
Speed boost is another power I don't really want but on the VERY rare occasions I get talked into teaming I suppose I'll be expected to have it.
I can see dropping a slot from Inertial reduction and the End Red slot from Fulcrum shift to add a couple of recharge to Siphon Speed. I think that I probably wasn't using SS to all of it's potential on my other Kinetics controller.
Looking at Performance Shifter versus Efficacy Adaptor I can really see your point. Both sets give the same damage bonus plus EA gives you 5% recharge with all six slotted. A little closer to a "sorta Perma" character.
Thanks again for all the input. I've been playing for 3 years now and just really got into the mechanics of building a few months ago. So far I've tweaked an Inv/SS tank and my bots/traps MM and both are far outperforming what they had been! -
So here's version 2.0 with a lot of advice from ya'll and with an eye to my very odd play style. I attempted to slot with a "kinda Perma" build.

thanks for all the input, gave me a lot to mull over. I guess I should have pointed out that I solo 99.9% of the time. I know it's strange especially since I'm building a "support" character but I had a real blast playing an earth/kin to 50.
I'll post build 2.0 after doing some more research including reading your guide Local. -
Kinda sorta got Mids up and running ( I think, it's cooperating right now, anyway) and here's my proposed build. Critique away as I am lost as a babe in the woods with making em bigger, stronger and faster and any advice would be most appreciated!

Love to but Mids is all jacked up on my computer (completely unusable-which makes Sofacat cry) and I can only crunch a build manually.
This is a frustrating thing. Haven't been able to use it since I18, dunno what's going on. -
well, you pays yer $15 bucks, you plays the way yer wants. Doesn't affect MY gameplay at all but you're really shortchanging yourself by not checking out the entire game. Can't stress that enough.
The difference is almost ANY build can be an effective "farm" build if you understand the inherent strengths and weaknesses thereof. And that's what you learn by playing the game rather than farming for levels/inf/tickets/whatev.
It takes all kinds and if you're happy enough, farm away. But your missing out... -
Thank ya very much, the info I had read was a bit vague and I've yet to reaffirm any alignments. I knew about the 50 reward merits after reaffirming but I was wondering how many AM's you'd recieve after that. Appreciate it!
-
So, what's the drop rate like for alignment merits? Is it scaled like reward merits due to mish difficulty?
-
When they say random, that's just what they mean. I went through a very dry period of maybe 3 months and then picked up two in one mish. I forget what they were (Coercive Persuasion?) but a few days later got a Ragnarok. A few weeks since all this and nada.
-
Love all the Crotoa contact's arcs and the Midnighter arcs. Oh and anything with Fusionette.
-
Honestly I dunno. I would think any attacks you could make using a jet pack could be animated as though the carpet were "intangible" so to speak.
As far as "just taking flying", well sometimes I do although I usually take Speed for the Haste and, ahem, speed. Just think it would be nice for the toons to be able to craft a magic carpet temp power for vertical accessiblity.
Heck, now that I think about it, a "witches broom" temp power would be sweet too. And Halloween isn't too far off.
I'm not a role player by any stretch of the imagination although I do sort of get into my toons head while playing. And that shiny high tech jet pack just don't fit right, dagnabit -
I was thinking more along the lines of the either a standing pose or a yoga "lotus" style sitting. Every time I play a Magic character and use that @#$% jetpack I can't help but think of Dr. Orpheus' disdain for Rusty Venture's pitiable "science". This makes me sad.
-
I'm 99% sure this has been suggested before but....
I roll a lot of Magic origin characters. The costume variations are incredible, the powersets are thematically pleasing but it's so very annoying to occasionally use a "high tech" jet pack for vertical lift on my non-flying characters. I'd like to see a "magic carpet" style alternative to the jet pack offered as a temp power.
I'm sure this has been suggested before. Anyone know if it's being considered? -
Where, o where can these elusive Magmite Lords be found?
-
Recently dinged to 39 myself. I'd like to consider myself a mastermind in RL as I have plenty of minions but I think I'm probably just another pet to my wife.
Dreading the day my minions have minions. -
[QUOTE=Largo;3160021]I am guilty of having fun with this game in weird ways. For instance, I go to the ice crystal in my base, take the old Posi TF on my level 50 tank to get auto exemplared to lvl 15, then dont do the TF, but just run around Skyway beating up Trolls, Ogres, Calibans, Supas...because its fun.
Lol-I do that too. -
I solo as a rule and my Earth/Kinetics controller was my first 50 in that archetype. Slogging my way to level 32 was an extreme exercise in tactically choosing my battles. Without vet powers (Sands of Mu and Blackwand) and lotsa temps I doubt I would have made it. Once I picked up the rock pet, the levels flew by.
My advice? It's an uphill battle but worth it. E A R T H R A G E isn't my favorite 50 but probably the one who's journey I'm most proud of. -
Welcome to the best game AND best forum around. Can't add much to what everyone else has said other than to stress that with experience will come better strategies for leveling faster and utilizing your powers more efficiently.
Also, use the paragonwiki site and do not be afraid to ask questions. I have yet to get a rude response to a sincere question concerning gameplay. Normally folks will fall all overthemselves to help you out. Certainly there are jerks in the pile (human nature being what it is) but the ratio to helpful friendly folks is exceedingly small.
Lastly, remember that you are playing a game and you are only here for fun. If you feel like a certain archtype or powerset just isn't working, junk it! There's lots to choose from; I haven't come close to building 'em all or even trying 'em. Later on you'll probably dust off that brute or controller or whatev and find that you've learned enough to make em fun to play.
Except warshades. They're just terrible.
Have fun and welcome again! -

Okay, I know the info is out there somewheres but what can I say? I'm a lazy guy.
I've got a 50 Villian with 10 Vigilante points. So how exactly do I get a "morality mission"? Do I wait a day like tip missions?
