Good story arcs
The Dr. Vahz is good for early run. Pain in the butt, but I liked the story. The Crimson arc is great when you hit 45 I believe.
And by the way, your grammar and English is fab!
Enjoy the game and welcome!

If you have the opportunity to get the new expansion, the Praetorian arcs from 1-20 have been some of the best stories in the game so far, in my opinion. If you have the Going Rogue expansion and you roll a new toon, give those a try. Not to mention they all have a bunch of new mission mechanics that most of the blue and red side arcs don't get which add some fun new twists to the game. The 'moral choices' and things they do in Praetoria actually do make for a more interesting game at the low levels, which have actually made me fall back into the game after a break myself.
A long-time fan-favorite is the Freaklympics arc given by Marvin Weintraub (Talos Island) or Collin Larson (Independence Port), lvl 25-29 heroside.

Thank you for your answers, i will surely try to run them when i get to the appropriate level bracket(s)

I found the area a bit annoying because i got mobbed a few times by some ambushes which if i read correctly on the forums are a bug?
So i'm also running the "older" contect now because it's (presumably) more bug free and well written. This way when i get send to the hospital i know it's my own fault for not paying attention / being over-heroic instead of wondering for an hour how i'm supposed to survive like 8 mobs at the same time at the same place which all go like "chaaaaaarge we find you where ever you go on the map."

Around the mid-30s in the Nerva Archipelago (villainside) Technician Naylor gives an arc called Automatic Villainy which I highly recommend (avoid spoilers about this one!)
There's also a Midnighter Club contact named Mercedes Sheldon on heroside who gives out a series of 3 really good arcs around levels 20-25. I particularly enjoy The Magic Man.
Those would be my top picks from each side.
It takes a little effort to unlock, and its first arc is nothing special, but the Slot Machine's (villain 30-34) second arc is one of my absolute faves.
"The Hamidon is a what what of what?" - Brian the mission guy.
The best thing i like is the good (imho) story writing of some of the longer arcs, so i'm wondering which ones are really recommended.
Arcs i really liked: The Seer Marino / ghost widow The faultline ones Hero cape mission(s) about Statesman recorded message The ones with your own clones (hero and villainside) |
When you hit level 35, go to the Rikti Warzone and do all of the story arcs, in particular "the Peculiar Case of Benjamin A. Decker". At 45 run a Lady Grey task force.
Then go back with a villain, and do the first story arc from Dean McArthur.
Let me know if you delete your villain after that or not. =)
A story rich villain setting you will enjoy is St Matial. If possible, you want to run Jezebel Jones arc "Johnny's Squeeze" and at least one arc from any of Basse Croupier, Hardcase or Hard Luck to get an introduction to Johnny Sonata before you run his missions. I think, the most important is to do Jezebel before Johnny, but as many of them as you can do first, will give you an idea of the man. Then when you run his arc you'll appreciate it much more. It is an amazing bit of writing. Brilliant variation on a traditional story.
When you get to Grandville, do everything from Television. Those are fun.
Hero side, I too love faultline. Striga and Croatoa are similar zones with contained stories that are really unique.
It looks like you missed it, so jump into an Oroboros portal and do the level 10 mission in the Hollows from Flux the Outcast. The final mission in it is one of the most memorable CoH has to offer. You will not regret it!
"Hmm, I guess I'm not as omniscient as I thought" -Gavin Runeblade.
I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
An Arachnos Ghost Story from Veluta Lunata (10-14, Port Oakes). Requires the Pirate badge.
Die by the Freak! from Doc Buzzsaw (25-29, Sharkhead Isle). Requires the Bling badge to unlock. As a sample: "Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?"
Automatic Villainy from Technician Naylor (35-39, Nerva Archipelago)
Miss Francine the Freakshow Teacher from Westin Phipps (40-44, Grandville). I like the writing for Phipps in general, but this is my favorite of his arcs. Warning: moustache-twirling evil.
Video Killed the Radio from Television (45-50, Grandville). All of Television's stuff is pretty good, but I like this arc especially. And if you worked for RADIOOOOO Free Opportunity! in the earlier levels, all the better
The Conference of Evil from Viridian (45-50, Grandville). Viridian takes a little bit of work to unlock as a contact, in particular the Infiltrator badge requiring 200 Paragon Protectors.
Alone in the Darque from Efficiency Expert Pither (45-50, Grandville). Pither's other missions can be a pain in the butt (everything except his arc is timed), but the arc is pretty good.
Von Grun's Redemption from Vernon von Grun (45-50, Grandville). Vernon is definitely my favorite villain contact. Now, then... Laugh with me! NYAH - HAH - HAH - HAH - HAH - HAH!
Why, yes. All of my recommendations are from redside. Why do you ask? >.>

And any knowledge Golden Girl has about the villainous and the loyalist arcs in the game is entirely limited to what she reads on Paragonwiki

Some of my favorites.
The Flux arc in the Hollows is fun, but you'll find many vets have burned out on the Hollows in general as it was THE place to level from 5-15 back in the day and we ran those arcs dozens of times. The final mission is still one of the best low level missions in the blueside game.
As you've discovered the new Faultline arcs are pretty good and certainly worth running.
The Strigga Island series of arcs is worth doing; there's some nice temp powers and fun missions but the overall story may be a bit weak. It does open up one of the more fun TF's around, the Hess TF (25-30)
Croatoa from 25-35 is a fun zone with some pretty challenging enemies and the storyline is decent. Not on par with Freakolympics but it's fun.
Of course you don't want to miss the aforementioned Freakolympics arc, it's a lot of fun.
In the 30's there's the Doctor's Ally arc in Brickstown and several other fun Crey arcs. Also the Terra arc with Devouring Earth in Founder's Falls (I forget who gives these arcs, sorry) is well worth doing.
In the 40-45 range don't miss Tina MacIntyre in Portal Corporation (Peregrine Island) for the Praetorian War arc.
45-50 it's time for Maria Jenkins and the Hero's Hero arc, a continuation of Tina's 40-45 arc. Unai (forget his last name, he's next to Castle in the courtyard of Portal Corp) and his To save a thousand worlds arc is good as well.
Crimson has a nice arc that many hate to play since it's all Malta Group, one of the nastiest villain groups out there. Be prepared for massive end drains (Sappers, they can drain you dry in one shot), stuns (maybe that should be STUNS since they last frickin' forever) and mobs highly resistant to several damage types.
The Madam of Mystery (Carnies) arc is well worth doing and nicely written.. I believe it's 40-45.
There's others that are fun to do but those are the ones that stick out in my mind. Don't forget about Task Forces either; the revamped Positron is good to run, although a bit tough at 10-15, Synapse at 15-20 still is a grind fest. Sister Psyche is one of my favorites at 20-25 and Citadel from 25-30 can be fun. Manticore from 30-35 is a nice, relatively short, TF and Numina is... interesting at 35-40.
Although the rewards are severely nerfed the Eden Trial is something that everyone should do at least once; it's an awesome map and a lot of fun.
The Imperious Task Force (ITF) in Cimerora (requires the Midnight Club badge to get access... the access arc starts in the Steel University at 20+) is probably the most run TF in the game from 35-50.
My favorite TF is the Statesman TF (STF) for 45-50 characters... it's one of THE most challenging TF's in the entire game.
COH has just been murdered by NCSoft. http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes
Love all the Crotoa contact's arcs and the Midnighter arcs. Oh and anything with Fusionette.
Greetings Forums,
My registration date is a few months old but i'm really new to this game (quit after a little playing around because of RL issues, now back for some more), so i'm still finding stuff out.
The best thing i like is the good (imho) story writing of some of the longer arcs, so i'm wondering which ones are really recommended.
Arcs i really liked:
The Seer Marino / ghost widow
The faultline ones
Hero cape mission(s) about Statesman recorded message
The ones with your own clones (hero and villainside)
I'm around level 25 with my highest toon ( blame my altitus)
So which ones should really keep an eye out for.
Thanks in advance.
(Non-native english writer, sorry for the poor grammar)
