To nuke or not to nuke?
one time a well timed inferno killed 2 stalkers about to AS me in rv, i immediately got a tell asking how i knew they were there, i said i heard the sound of build up and figured free kill.
Announce your nuke, so we can all get our screenshots ready.
I love NUKES from a Tanker perspective that is. I used to tank for a blaster who had NOVA, I would take my INV/SS in and gather a couple groups of enemies around me then he would jump in and NOVA. bodies were flying everywhere. It took seconds to clean up the stragglers and then we'd move to the next room or area.
I don't know Psychic Wail but if its anything like NOVA, it makes life so much easier on a team, as long as everyone knows what is going on.

Tangents happen - welcome to a discussion forum.
You opened the door when you implied that if you're not dying frequently, you're not blasting right.

stop acting like your blaster never dies.

Not never, but hardly ever. No acting here.
For announcements... I like binding something to P. Like
/bind p say "Time for Stupid Blaster Tricks!"
... "Burning a hole in the map!"
... "Attention Seeking Behavior!"
... "Grabbing a solo!"
I got a million of 'em.
Shred: While you are, objectively, losing damage in many situations... that's like saying that NASCAR is a waste of gas. It's not the POINT. Filling my screen with big orange numbers makes me happy. (My favorite is a Fire/Elec, so I get powersink and, really, that means my downtime is 'eat a blue, powersink a survivor, get back to shooting.')

I'll drink to that.
My 50 blaster is an ele/fire, So like you Fulmens, Large group around tank, Nuk'em, swollow a little blue pill and then Consume from the survivors. I announce before hand i'm going to nuke, so that no one ends up scattering the enemies, and they know, i'm gonna be useless for a bit. And always, buildup before the nuke. And it really is satisfying to just watch the people shiver in electric shock, and then drop.

lastly if ur a blaster and u dont have all ur debt badges bye lvl 40 your obviusly ned to switch to a controller cus thier the ones that sit back and hide like cowards.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just because a blaster doesn't have all their debt badges prior to level 40 it doesn't mean they are playing the AT wrong, it means YOU are playing it wrong. I've seen some pretty bad blasters go that distance without all the badges. That many debt badges that early isn't necessarily a badge of honor as much as a badge of poor play.
Wow, I didn't think this discussion would "blow up" like it did! *rimshot* (I, too, gotta million of 'em.)

Debt badges are the mark of a good Blaster? Please learn how to take the alpha and survive.

I've always contended that if you're not getting debt now and then, you're not trying hard enough.
---edit---
That needs clarification as it's coming off a bit flippant....
I was on a team last night running level 17 missions with other players in Steel Canyon. We had a particularly nasty Tsoo mission and there were faceplants three or four times during the mission by about half the team. One player kept making a big deal about the debt. He was a 21 month vet, so he probably doesn't know what debt used to be like before they nerfed it near-nonexistence.
Him: Great. I have debt now.
Me: It's no big deal.
Him. It sucks! I hate it!
Me: It'll be gone in five minutes though, if even that long.
Him: That's five minutes I don't want to spend.
Later.....
Him: Great. Died again. It's ten minutes now!
After the mission was over...
Him: Thanks for the "fun" mission. I earned debt like four times. Well, at least it's gone.
I said if you never earn debt, you're not trying hard enough, and I really do mean it. If dieing is something that doesn't happen except in the most of extreme circumstances, then you're basically playing without danger. You're not challenging yourself. Why play a game if there's no chance of losing? It's not a game then, it's just an exercise.
Arc ID#30821, A Clean Break
The only problem with defeating the Tsoo is that an hour later, you want to defeat them again!

oh well then sorry i would like to claim ive never died once and dont even know were the hospital is cuz i'm so good at the game none of my toons ever died once.
also id like to mention that if u door sit to lvl 50 this is true.
so lets nuke some +4 bosses and have fun. i luv nukes and if used right like the tank above the groups them up its fun.
who dosnt whant to play a hero that with a sway of a finger lvls 20+ bad guys
Only got "20+" badguys twice after issue 5 landed.
Once, I had two tanks herding Banished Pantheon, because I wanted to see how many people you could really kill with Blizzard since it [sort of] breaks the AOE limit. The answer was 25, but they were somewhat resistant. . .
The other time, it was one of those situations where a double or triple spawn aggroed. BU/Aim[turn left]/Fireball/Firebreath [jump right]/Inferno.
Explosion! Turn to the left!
Explosion! Turn to the right!
OOOooooooh... explosion!
We are the goon squad and we're coming to town. . .

I agree with that premise. You can't do challenging stuff without first taking your lumps.
But I have my own saying:
If you're getting debt on a regular basis, you're not thinking hard enough.
Have fun out there.
My Sonic Blaster has nuke and it seems like Nuke is mostly for "Wow" factor. People would say "Oh cool!" "Nice nuke" but the team may not need your nuke to begin with. You can use it to amuse yourself or save it for "oh crap!" situation.
Oh my Corruptor, I almost never take nuke as I have good secondary powers to take. On Blaster, you have Aim and Build Up so your nuke can actually kill something quick.
Psychic Wail has stun and even if it doesn't kill, it should stun bosses for a few seconds at least.
There are only 3 true nukes I would take:
Sonic Nuke (stun and resistance debuff and it's quick!)
Psionic Nuke (stun and it's quick)
Ice Nuke (aoe knockdowns)
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.
Well .. faceplanting every now and then can happen to the best of us.
Obviously, that silly light sword scrapper needed a better defender to heal his scrawny butt.
It really all depends on the team.
I have been on boss runs with tanks, where I was AoE nuking like mad, and nearly nerver got any aggro.
But on the opposite side, I have also been grouped with a level 50 tank that couldn't hold aggro when I used *nothing* else but my level 1 single target nuke! And that only sparingly. I don't mind faceplanting as long as it's not too often, but that was just silly.
That said, if there's another blaster on team, double the trouble, double the fun!
Double nukes = most bosses gone too!
In other words ....
.... NOOOOOOK EEEEET!!!
Little_Missy: I'm going to have a pedantic moment here.
When people say "Nuke" in this game, generally they mean Inferno, Nova, Thunderous Blast, or some other Tier 9 power that does tremendous damage and drains your endurance.

Funny vid. I can never watch that scene without thinking of the scene in Chasing Amy, "...Vader's beautiful black visage is sullied when he rips off his mask to reveal a feeble crusty-old white man!"
And yes, drawing aggro from a tank when I am not on a scrapper is not always a good thing.

Correct, I forgot to call it a "power" / "spell".
Even so, I really shouldn't have drawn aggro from any tank ... yet I did.
Sometimes, I didn't even have to touch any of the enemies and they still got aggro on me.
My guess is there might be a bug where some of the aggro from a fire tank may be transferred to a Fireblaster.
