Unless they make all auctions and bids on the auiction house disappear, it woudnt change much. and even if they did, within a few months we'd be trading for smaller amounts but the rich types would be right back on top and the poor would be complaining about how unfair it is that they cant be rich while doing nothing about it in a constructive manner..

Would be a brief annoyance, then I'd start earning it all back. The farmers would quickly have loads of inf to buy stuff from me, and I'd be more than happy to take it, working as a middle-man by storing valuable IOs on the market for people who are less patient than I am and want their inf Na0!

Years ago when I played EQ on the Test server, they did a wipe like that... first they wiped the server completely clean, but there was such an uproar that they restored characters, sans money or equipment. So everyone got to start over. ^_^

(There were about 150-300 regulars on the Test Server... you couldn't copy characters over from live like you can do in CoH.)

Anyway... I'd expect the same things to happen. Some people rage quit, a lot of people [censored] and moan, and then everyone who sticks around quickly gets back into the game and rebuilds.

Wow, I can't really predict. I think you would lose a decent chunk of players, maybe more than Statesman said we lost due to ED and GDN nerfs. Lots of people ranting about, "you took my stuff without giving me anything!" and lots of doofs arguing the old, "everything belongs to them anyway so [censored]" line of reasoning.

I bet a few would sell things at cheaper rates and such but mostly folks would try and hold out with what they have up at the old prices. Is there any reason to doubt we'd just end up right back where we are?

In a game like this where getting to level cap means starting again, I can't see that wiping everyone's inf is gonna do much at all except maybe temporarily bring down the general price level.

Now ask that question in Eve where you earn skill points in real time, 99% of everything for sale in the game is player crafted, and you have to open pvp in every system worth living in...that would get me playing again in a second!

Just like in real life. The rich would continue to do the things that made them rich and the poor would continue to do the things that made them poor.

I'd run some level 50 stuff, sell the common recipes for inf to vendors and pretty rapidly rebuild a starting pot.

Then as others have said it would be the same pattern all over again.

I'd be damned mad because i'm just now (trying) to become EBIL and am still poor, as in I still have toons I want to kit out.

Regardless of how easy one may rebuild his wealth, it would be incredibly frustrating. Even if accumulating X influence was no problem, just having your efforts wiped out suddenly... not cool.

I'd still have about a dozen purpled chars. And I'd still have hundreds of IOs in base storage that are worth a lot. I'd probably sell the IOs I don't need, plus farm and Marketeer like mad to buy up the really good stuff while prices are still low.

As long as all my builds didn't get wiped, I'd be fine. Right now I'm mostly earning inf for fun and to kit out the toons that I have coming through the pipeline.

I think there would be a lowering of prices for a little while, but things would come back to where they are now and continue right on plugging.

I'd want a good reason for doing it, but most of my "Wealth" is tied up in things other than influence. Mainly IO's, Salvage, and Merits, so I'd live. Run some level 50 content, still have who knows many toons IO'ed to the teeth and all that.

That and I'd probably take down some crafted Level 53 IO bids and buy up as much as I could at the new lower prices... knowing in six months they'd easily sell for double, triple or who knows how much as more influences is generated within the game.

I have a few hundred mil in active bids. I'd withdraw them and start making the pile bigger.

Next april fools day, it would make me laugh if they ran a script that looked at all the bids on the market for IOs that don't exist, and then filled them. A large number of billion would go up in smoke, mainly from people who could afford it.

The howls of "What do you mean I paid 2BN for a call of the sandman" would be quite amusing.

This. I have enough in storage that I'd make the inf back in no time flat on both sides.

Uh...That doesnt make any sense, but okay. You do realize when you lay a bid down you pay the money immediately, right?

People put down the bids on something they know won't get sold as a way of bypassing the inf cap. If the devs actually sold that stuff to them it's like clearing out a bank vault and leaving a dinner mint with a bow on the ground. I lol'ed.
