I listed a steadfast protection for 100 infamy.
Easy trick to get initial funding - don't use the Large Inspirations you get from the breakout/outbreak, put them on the BM/WW instead.
At least an easy 50k usually (values vary wildly from time to time, sometimes it'll be 10-20k other times 150k or something - but always nice for a pennyless newb! ))

Oh I was redside. Now I feel bad.
I know that the lower the level on these, the more valuable they are because of the exemplar rules.

Yeah, they are... and the one i mentioned was lvl 30, so yours may have been worth more.
Although just like with LotG some people prefer the higher lvl ones because of the resistance component in it.

The lower level ones should be worth more but sometimes they aren't because people are stuck in bigger is better thinking on the levels.
total kick to the gut

What I do next if I'm on a new server (as I have vetpecs coming out of every orifice) is to spend that 50K on buying 10 lvl 50 SOs at WWs, respec and sell them, this gives me half a million so I can list anything sensible.
I also recall my lvl 9 in the early days of I9 who dropped a set of wings when they were new, shiny and rare and sold them for 37M.
It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba
Yeah, a good choice - i usually go for lowbie recipes that no one uses, i've found 50 SO's to be harder to find these days.

You can get, usually, level 38-46 "trash" set recipes for really cheap. The SO's are better because you can hold ten of them from level 1, but you can do both. (I don't buy the level 50's because there's too much competition.)
For me it goes something like this: Beat my way to level 3 or so, buy trash salvage and one recipe, run to vendor. Do stuff, get to level [whatever], buy trash salvage and 3 recipes or whatever, run to vendor. That gives me enough to clear the 100K starting barrier.
Mini-guides: Force Field Defenders, Blasters, Market Self-Defense, Frankenslotting.
So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
Yup trash recipes like Sleep/Ranges, well... almost any mez/range works. I bid in stacks of 10 for 1 or 11 each at various levels. It's a good way to flip 100 infamy or influence into 100k in about 5 minutes (btw, use Kings Row and Port Oakes.. KR is right next to a vendor, PO you have to fairly flat/safe run to one).
You also can just throw the IO in the market and wait until you have more cash. You don't have to sell it right then!
Thank you, City of Heroes, for giving me a superhero social network combined with amazingly smooth game play. Petitions signed with realistic expectations.
It's very easy for one person to place 40 bids for 40 infamy total and bad up the numbers. I have never bothered adding deception to my bidding in this way, but the "# bidding" number must be taken with extreme skepticism, as regardless of the number, no bid is necessarily a "serious" bid.
I've listed things (even expensive things) at 1 and had them sell for higher than the last 5, but I wouldn't count on it.

I <3 this technique. Get so many good things like that.

I've used this as well, but only to sell low-churn items that haev a high price. Eventually people see 10-12 more bids than usual, price goes to my point and the item moves. Usually don't get much above equilibrium, but surprises do happen.
As for the OP, you can sometimes get small windfalls like that. I remember listing some odd-level crafted Posi bit (level 37 or something) and cashing in 20 mil redside...of course that is redside where scarcity primes.

Depends on which Steadfast it is. If it's the KB resist, lower is better. If it's the 3% defense, that also is a resist enhancement so higher is better if you actually plan to use the power it's slotted in (lower is better if you're tossing it in Tough's default slot and never turning it on).

Yeah - I just entered a new server and started bidding for "trash" lvl 50 uncommon IO recipes, for 1 to 11 inf, vendored them for 5000 each, then worked on picking up lvl 50 rare IO's, bidding up to 1000 each. Once I hit over 100,000, I started buying and selling salvage, and made about 5 million with casual selling like this my first day.
It was a lucky drop, level 11 recipe on a new character on a new (to me) server. With no infamy to speak of, I couldn't list it at the "proper" selling price, so I just threw it on the market for 100 inf. 40 bidders... I wasn't worried.
Some lucky [censored] got it for just shy of 3 million when the going rate is 10. I'm still happy, it's more money than any other character of mine has had at that level.
