I had Gray Huntress her bio and original reference are listed on her DA page.

This is my reimagining of her character as well as an alternate biography. I wanted the story to be a little more developed but my muse refused to give me the words.

Futuristic Blackberry Thorn

Original Blackberry Thorn

Original Bio:
Description: Born Betty Black Thorn, and raised under the long shadow of her father, the crime lord known as Dark Thorn, one might have expected this hero to take a different path in life. Her father certainly had plans for her to take up the family trade, as he had been exposing her to his world full of greed, and lust for power from an early age.

Fortunately, Betty never felt at ease under her father's wing. She was finally able to break free from his influence, when she discovered her mother's identity. Even though she had been missing since her birth, Betty felt more of a connection to her mother, who had been the Silver Age heroin Mourning Glory.

Confronting Dark Thorn about her mother's disappearance threw the man in to a rage. The resulting battle severed any remaining familial ties between them. Betty decided to distance herself from her father's reach as best she could, and moved to a city as far removed from his ideals as possible. A city of heroes, where she took up the name BlackberryThorn, and fought for light's glory, in her mother's name.

On a side note: The in-game description doesn't allow me to go in to detail, explaining that Betty's father is a multi-dimensional alien. His species is capable of existing in any number of divergent realities at the same time, sharing one consciousness with multiple bodies. Since Thorn was born from a human mother with empathic abilities, she was able to hold on to her human emotions. While at the same time, her father's alien influence gave her a faint connection to all the other Thorn daughters, born in different realities. This gave her access to a variety of other mental abilities, shared amongst her other selves.

I am not re-inventing the Biography as in a way it already fits into a potential alternate universe sci-fi theme.

I took the half alien mind/empath literally and she is sporting her circa 1970's sci-fi alien outfit. Or, I guess you could say it is a little G-Force inspired as well.

Wow, I like what you did with her, Larissa! And nice twist on her biography...I may need to make a Praetorian Gray Huntress after all.

--------------------

I also finished Larissa's villain, Chyna Doll ; this is the original reference and biography. There's no horror like Asian horror, seems like everyone else lost their skill at building mood.

I had fun doing a re-imagining of Chyna Doll and changed her biography at the moment of her transformation:

Mei-Zing was kidnapped by the Triads and tortured for information. Her father had been stealing money and they believed that Mei knew where he, or the money, was. Horrible things were done to her, the least of which was the taking of her eyes so she couldn't identify her attackers. She screamed for mercy, that she knew nothing, but none was given.

Finally her torturers took a break and tossed her into a room, chained up. Mei felt her life seeping away onto the cold, hard floor. She could hear her guards talking outside the room. Her father had abandoned her, he had taken the cowards way and fled, they didn't know where he had gone. The last thought that ran through her head was that she would have her revenge on them all. Some dark force heard her vow and was going to grant her wish, but just as the oni was going to take her body as its own something unseen intervened in its realm.

An ancestor spirit from Mei-Zing’s family line attacked the dark spirit to prevent its success and releasing a curse upon the mortal realm. Their battle was long and hard fought, and the oni was by far more powerful. Through a combination of luck, finesse, and the growing proximity of Mei’s death, her ancestor outmaneuvered its opponent and leapt inside the girl’s body, closing any opportunity the evil spirit had.

Mei retreated within her mind, closing out the world; it was during this time the ancestor avenged her by taking control of her body and driving the Triads who did this to her insane. The poor girl is somewhat alive, perhaps more half-dead, and wracked by the horrors inflicted on her. The good spirit’s guidance, however, kept her sane and nurtured her through this terrifying transition.

When Mei was ready, she was able to step out of her cocoon. While she still wants vengeance against all Triads, she also is on a quest to find her father and protect him from those who would do him harm. Perhaps he didn’t know where she was and how to save her, perhaps they didn’t even give him a chance, or maybe he did just run away. While the latter option does tear at her, she is trying to understand.

Despite her own mission, she also wants to ensure that what happened to her will not happen to anyone else. She’ll face many foes to come including the angry, dark oni scheming from the spirit realm.
-----------------------------------------------

And here is her costume! Chyna Doll (praetorian)

When making her costume I realize I deviated quite a lot from her original theme. In the original, you could see that she was still wearing the clothes that she was tortured in, still bound by the chains, and her skin tone was grayed and lifeless.

With the re-imagining, I kept the gray, lifeless skin, but changed the outfit completely. I didn't think her ancestor spirit would have encouraged her to wear the soiled garb or something similar. Instead, she probably would have been encouraged to wear something finer and cleaner. I played with various styles, such as school girl looks, but all of them didn't seem to click. So instead, I went with a martial arts theme, and chose blue as the main color to promote calm.

But that much deviation required I bring the focus back to the original character, so I left her eyes exposed rather than hidden (unfortunately there are no plain bandages, and the barbed wire or chain versions look too dark); I also used the vines pattern on her legs, feet, and hands and colored it black. This is the mark of her ancestor spirit, moving and weaving beneath her skin.

I hope you like her, Larissa!

I swear, they only look so cute so I will pick them up to cuddle them, just so they can fart on me >_<

Any way, back on topic. I love the future of the past, hence the year 2000 bit ; ) Every one's idea of the future changes every decade. Where are my hover cars and jet packs!?

And in honor of Picture This! SCME, BBT's second, formal wear outfit has been replaced with...

Futures past BBT!

Embracing your inner alien ^_^

With two slight changes, being the long sleeves, since I love them with all my heart. And the combat aura, because it slides over the helmet as if it was meant to be there ; )

Oh, and she is slightly less tan.

You saw how much I cover BBT up with her costumes, how could she ever get a tan? ; )

Mind control!

I love it ^_^

But BBT still likes to get physical.

Onward, to tomorrow!

Again, mind control.

I has it ^_^

Thanks for getting me in the mood to wear a cheesy costume again. Some times I forget how good it feels.

CITRUS was born in a beautiful orchard where the sun shown down daily to warm her tiny body. The rain would occasionally breeze through to wash her clean, and the wind would gently dry her and tickle her as the branch she lived on gently swayed from side to side. Picking day had arrived and Citrus excitedly watched as the pickers worked their way through the orchard picking the best of the best and placing them in their baskets. But when Citrus wasn’t picked, she knew that it was time for her to let go and venture on. And so she dropped to the ground and started to quickly roll through the orchard as she made her way to the road. Suddenly, she began to roll slower and slower, her tiny round body started to grow in size and deform. She was suddenly changing shape and when all was done, she had not only transformed into a human form, but she had transformed into a MALE ! She was now a strong handsome human male and no longer a squishy citrus female. The only thing that was still the same, by human standards, was that she was still tiny!

Wow, I had a bit of a doozy

I was paired up with John Printemps, and he gave me his character Gebeb.

I apologize John but your bio was a little mysterious, not trying to knock you but I couldn't get a great idea on who your person was. So I'll do my best to rehash my interpretation of it.

Bio: Gebeb was up until recently rotting in the ground. An ancient egyptian mummy that had had it's soul pass on into the afterlife. That however changed not too long ago. His soul and mind was somehow transferred into a robotic body. Not sure how to feel about what had happened, Gebeb has decided to go out into the world and make the best of what happened to him.

Gebeb Before

Now our theme was modern, so somehow I had to create a modern era robot. I got the idea to somehow go after prosthetic limbs and potentially cutting edge bionics. I strived to maintain a modern sense by leaving many of the parts of the robot that didn't need to have coverings as minimalist as possible, very skeletal and exposed. I took four screenshots of them and compiled them into a photobucket album. Let's hope ya like it.

Don't worry, you got it Gebeb was an Egyptian ruler slash ascended god figure back in third dynasty Egypt (3,200ish BC). I was having immense fun with Wikipedia on the day of his conception into CoX But I didn't want it to be so straight forward, that's why his bio is as strange and vague (yet just detailed enough) as it is, and you caught it! I should post the original but it'd have to wait until I log in again to copy it off of him.

I went through about 6 or 7 iterations with Bubbawheat's character before I found something I liked. I was sorely tempted to keep the costume for myself for a future character. Oh well.

Anyway, here are a couple screenshots from Bubbawheat's gallery and the bio provided:

Timeshifter

Bio:
Time Shifter started out his current life cycle as an experiment in temporal transference. He was able to more or less syphon time from those around him. From their perspective, they would repeat a few minutes, or a day, and Time Shifter would repeat that time as well, speeding his learning software and upgrading his hardware. The more people around him, the more quickly he would evolve as it were, although the further along in the process, the more power he needed. Now he is at a point where people are of no use for him, he needs to seek out other temporal anomalies to further his advancement. He is now collecting artifacts and travelling to time anomalies everywhere he hears about them.

My version (Praetorian):

Timeripper

Like our world's Timeshifter, Timeripper began as an experiment. Unlike Timeshifter, he went somewhat insane, and his goal is to use his powers to rip apart time and create chaos. His ultimate goal - to rip apart all time streams in ALL dimensions, break down all dimensional barriers, and essentially create Armageddon. His archenemies are the Oroborans, who are continually undoing all of his hard work.

Here's my gender swap version of Tuter_King's Mr. Marks:

Ms. Marks - Far
Ms. Marks - Close

And here's the original for comparison:

Mr. Marks - Front
Mr. Marks - Back
Mr. Marks - Side

Mr. Marks is heavily tied to the Skulls enemy group, so I tried to keep the character looking like a Skull, without being plain enough to become indistinguishable from them. The original version of him was extremely monochromatic being entirely yellow and black, so I wanted to spice up the color scheme a little. I made all the yellows into gold instead, to reduce the amount of color vibration that the piercing lemon yellow causes on the deepest black.

I added some white into the rims of the glasses, feet and the main skull symbol, to make it pop. Since I really liked the synergy of the crown brooch on the skull head, I kept that part of the character very visible. Changing the shoulder parts to neck and shoulder chains made the brooch look like it's a pendant on a gold chain, while the skull is a simple print on the shirt. That seemed very appropriate garb for a Skull, to me.

I toned down the amount of chains on her, since all the detail was overpowering the basic design, so instead of the chain gloves, I gave Ms. Marks the sinister gloves. The yellow/gold gloves draw your eye to the hands and since she's a SS or DM brute, it's good design to make her hands a focal point.

Since I like to give every one of my costumes something unique, I decided to take the basic pants and turn them into chaps, using a combo of 'tight pants,' selective patterning and flared jeans. The lighter area in the middle breaks up the darkness of the silhouette and lets you perceive the top and bottom of her design better. I chose the flared jeans to add some weight to her lower half since her top half is already so dominant.

Choosing hair was difficult, since there's no female version of the corn rows style, so I just kept it to something very short to the head. Instead of making it black though, I made it the deepest brown I could. It helps to further separate her body from her costume. Just to add a *slight* bit of color, I gave her a purple lipstick. It's not very bold, so it should be subtle, but it adds some interesting play into her head since her 'eyes' are basically gold. Yellow and purple being the natural contrasting colors.

--------------------------------

On a slightly unrelated note, random themes really suck. Not every character is appropriate for every theme and while I love seeing alternate versions of my own character, I don't care for some themes. If this is going to happen again, I would *much* prefer to be able to pick my theme. This time around, I signed up for one thing and then was given something entirely different. That was a really nasty switcheroo, which I'd really prefer to not see again.

Nice, PeteyCat. I really like how the new Ulterior top looks on her. Never cared much for the overly large valkyrie boots but then again, she's scrawny to begin with. I do with the Dev's would port the metallic look over to more pieces. I'll likely mix-n-match and keep pieces from both outfits.

As for yours...

Aerial Avenger - Coming Soon™

Posted

I was teamed with PeteyCat and was requested to "modernize" Aerial Avenger's look. Considering her history, I could see several options.

Bio (provided by PeteyCat):
Jane Blackburn wanted to do her part during WWII. Shuttling equipment back and forth in the States wasn't glamorous work, but for a female pilot, it was as good as it got. At least, until she was assigned a shipment of experimental nerve gas. Fumes from a leaking container overcame Jane while taking off, causing her to pass out and sending her plane crashing into a hangar.

Those who rushed to the scene were astonished to find Jane alive in the wreckage, her body pulsing with energy. Doctors determined that the gas had turned her into a kind of living capacitor, able to absorb energy from her surroundings and release it in powerful bursts. Jane turned her new found ability against the 5th Column, becoming the costumed Aerial Avenger.

Near the end of the war Jane infiltrated a 5th Column base rumored to contain a prototype time travel portal. She was surprised, to say the least, to find it operational, and even more surprised to be thrown through it in the ensuing battle, landing in the present. She is trying hard to understand her strange new home.

A few thought I had about Jane.
Women pilots working for the military during WWII was a well kept secret. It's probably why the government was willing to risk their lives ferrying highly volatile toxic materials, after all, if anything happened who'd notice...

None of that stopped Jane however, because it was as daring a job she could get in those days, 'Suzie Homemaker' she was not.

As for her leap to the future, Jane took it all in stride, seeing it as another adventure. Come on, until war broke out it was women wearing pants was looked down on, but women wearing skirts that were above the knees!?! Outrageous!

Jane loved the liberation of women's clothing, and when she's not out fighting crime, she's out on the town, enjoying her new friends and meeting new people.

Aerial Avenger - Off duty

In her time, there were no purpose-built 'Hero' outfits. Those who were special had to 'make do' with what was available. But now, she had available to her, not only materials that would survive the beating her powers and those she was fighting, but Tailors that made a living making costumes for people like her.

Aerial Avenger - On Duty

Jane quickly settled in to her new surroundings, but if you look closely you can see a sadness in her eyes, of friends and family lost to time. It may never go away, but she is too stubborn to let it keep her from living her life, no matter the path it has taken.

Edit: Just to make clear that the Bio was Petey's creation (credit where credit is due), everything after the yellow I added as a little flavour.

Nice! I love the color scheme on the off-duty outfit especially. I know what my last two costume slots are going to be now.

Posted

I tried to match the colors you were using on her original outfit, with a bump a in brightness for her 'On duty' outfit. This one was actually my second attempt, the first one to me looked a little too 'armoured', so I went with the sleek 'spandex' outfit on my second try.

Oddly enough, out of 60+ characters I only have 2 that I put in Spandex™ and that's Judgement Awaits and Steadfast Sentinel (no Rollcall screenie yet, going to have to fix that.)

Wow. Aeriel Avenger's bio and costume are simply stunning. Great work!

I was teamed with the fantastic Hericane, who remade my character, Naomi "Eventide" Voss-Illsley into Naomi "The Fox" Hills, a transformation that I'm incredibly happy with, but is also a difficult act to follow.

We were given the theme of "ancient" to work with, which I really struggled with because I didn't want to put Hericane into a normal Roman/ Samurai/ Knight outfit and be done with it. Instead, I tried to allow her background to push me towards one theme or the other.

Hericane is a pretty complex character, but at her core she is a classic guardian archetype and I chose to represent that with an armoured and noble look. I experimented with a number of concepts, making her a commander in Imperious' army, then a Luddite defender of Cap Au Diable. In the end I settled on making tying her into the Crusades, a protector of the pilgrims travelling through the dangerous, bandit-filled mountains passes of Wallachia and Muntenia on their way to the Holy Land.

Unfortunately, armour and nobility came at the expense of some of Hericane's sensual look, but who says you can't be sexy in battle armour?

Without further ado:

On the banks of the Black Sea

Observing from a position of command

Examining the battlefield for clues

There are many tales about the origin of The Hericane. Some claim she is an avenging angel, risen from the grave, others that she is not from this world at all. The most widespread story, however, is that she a simple peasant girl, blessed by the Zâne of the Black Sea to protect those who would visit its shores.

For decades the passes through the Carpathian Mountains had been infested by the bandit-kings who fed upon the stolen wares of merchants traveling from the sea to the markets of Wallachia. With the kingdoms boyers more interested in their own wealth than that of protecting the trading route, many merchants took a longer route to the south rather than risk their deaths in the mountains which meant vital supplies of food and medicines were lost to the people inland.

When the Vatican called for every man in Wallachia who could raise a weapon to journey to the Holy Land, the people began to plot a journey that would allow them to avoid the mountains where they would be easy pickings, and rally at the shores of the Black Sea. The journey, which added months to their travel time meant that many of the troops and supplies destined for Jerusalem would not make it in time to aid those already fighting.

The boyers sent scouts into the mountains to try find a safe route, but only one returned- a young boy, with word from a striga that a single mountain pass remained open due to the intervention of a female warrior, clad in the finest of red and black armour.
