Just Saying Hi !

Welcome!
If its broke, don't fix it... I like the chaos!
Actually, there's not that much powerlevelling in the AE anymore. Since the exploits were closed, most of the farming teams are throwing themselves at missions way too difficult for them and wondering why they keep getting wiped out. That's the definition of a noob.
I'm still wading through and enjoyed it !
I can see how you need to be a team though - 3 nasty Sprockets ganged up on me a while back !
Depending on your archetype (AT for short), you don't need to team. Actually, as you get more practice, you can pretty much solo on any AT.
However, watch what color the enemies are conning. That'll tell you their relative power level when compared to you. Blue, Green, and Grey enemies are weaker than you, white are about your power level, and yellow, orange, red are above your power level. Purples are much greater in power level than you, being anywhere from +4 to +46 in level to you. So watch out for purple bad guys in the early levels.

Welcome to the Game.
As with other people I'll say: feel free to ask any question, it's not an indictable offense to be new in this Game.
If you decide you want to come visit the Big City and want to try Villain Side, send me a PM on these forums and I'll come show you around on Freedom Server.
Thank you, that explains a lot ! So run fassstttt from purples !

They actually explain that in the Tutorial. Do read the text in the tutorial zone; it's an important foundation for much of the rest of the game.
There's also a tutorial at lv10 (in Steel Canyon hero side or Cap au Diable villain side) for the Invention (crafting) System. Inventions are entirely optional and you don't need to mess with them if you don't want, but if you do want to get into them they can be confusing without the University Tutorial.
welcome to the game, i should be on Pinnacle later tonight, so if you are on in the late night est, i can help with anything you need. global is @israck. and although Pinnacle is my, ummmmm, 6th server i've found it's agreat community (they all are actually, just a matter of what personality type you are looking for).
of course at this point, you won't have any time to play whilst looking up helpful folks from the forums
Oh yeah, that was the time that girl got her whatchamacallit stuck in that guys dooblickitz and then what his name did that thing with the lizards and it cleared right up.
screw your joke, i want "FREEM"

Hello and welcome to the game!
As others have said repeatedly, feel free to ask any question.
Don't be afraid to use the Search feature though, as many questions you have may have already been asked and answered and you could find your answer by reading those threads.
Try to hold off on your Suggestions for improving the game until you really get a feel for it too. There's nothing many of us hate more than a player who comes from another MMO, plays to level 5 and then makes a bunch of suggestions (usually suggested before) on how to make the game more like their old MMO, which of course to them means better.
This is not meant to offend but rather to inform.
Welcome and good luck!

Hi!

Hey, new here, just wanted to say hello
Looks very complicated, hope I'll be able to ask a few questions on here and not get newbiefied !
Looking forward to meeting some of you inworld !

Sheesh. What a newb! You newbified already. That idea is to ask questions to get un-newbiefied.
Oh and welcome to the game.
The best bit advice I can give is what people have already given. Create your character. Don't worry about mistakes or things you forgot. Virtually everything can be changed at somepoint or another.
Do the tutorial. Read every bit of dialog as it will give you the basics that the read of the game is built upon. And you'll be second level when you've finished.
And avoid the AE/Mission Architect for now. It's a nice change of pace from normal play. And it can be used as an alternate leveling path if you so inclined, but it's not how I recommend a new person to start the game with.
If really want to learn the game, go get your first contact and play through the missions you contact gives you. At some point, you'll be introduced to a new contact. Playing thorough that stuff as well. Also don't be afraid to steet sweep. That is fight any bad guys you met on the street. There is no penalty for being defeated until you are level 10.
And other can give better advice for advanceing once you hit level 5/6. There are a several paths you can take on your way up. And don't be shy about asking questions CoH/V has a great community, both on the forums and in game. And again Welcome to the game.

You are just beginning you heroic career. You will be much more powerful as you level. Depending on your Archetype and/or Power you could be taking on 20 to 30 game critters at a time. In other world, you haven't see nothing yet.

Sophie - a note about your forum handle.
On our current forums, you can change your handles as often as you want.
(Except PK - he abused it, so some of us are tempted to petition for a ban if he does it again! )
However, soon we will move to a new set of forums and that software does NOT allow the changing of handles - so unless you want to be permanently "SophieNewbie" you might want to change your handle

Yeah, mine's not changing again. Because we don't know when the new forums will be upon us, and I don't want to be stuck with something retarded when they make the switch.

Yup, same here. Claws has basically become my general internet handle, mostly because other than my email and myspace I didn't HAVE an internet identity until I came here.

I read these first before checking anything else on the board - those posts are maintained by a bot that checks all rednames' posting history and updates the digest posts about once every fifteen minutes.

Welcome to the city!
If you feel like giving the Justice server a try, I co-lead a newbie friendly Supergroup called the "Justice Strike Force" (I didn't name it!), and we'd be more than happy to help you through learning the game. My global is @Justice Reaper
Unless you're playing a trial account, then you can ask someone to send the tell for you. I don't mind answering any number of questions you (or other new players) have about the game.
To right the countless wrongs of our day, we shine the light of true redemption, that this place may become as paradise. What a wonderful world such would be....
I'm sorry what was that, I couldn't hear you over my TRAGIC PAST!!

I'll try not to be a noob

You got a ways to go before even being considered for that title. There are no dumb questions as long as you are willing to learn and the majority of people here are more than happy to help new people learn and enjoy the game. The more people we have playing, the more fun it is for all of us.
Oh, and welcome to the game! Feel free to look me up on the Infinity server if you're ever over there. Global name is @aquajaws. As others have said as well, a great resource is the paragon wiki that others have linked to. Create different characers with different powers, see which ones you like. Ask questions if you have one. Just remember to have fun with it, otherwise, what's the point?
