Just Saying Hi !
Howdy and welcome to the City!
It's not as complicated as it seems at first. Once you start figuring stuff out it starts making more sense.
If you play on Pinnacle at all you'll probably meet me eventually. My global name is the same as my forum handle, but with spaces

Thanks and hi back
I'll be in there soon, and yus, will say hello too
I guess the only way to learn is play and explore a while before stepping up
I'll go ahead and link you to ParagonWiki right now. It's a great resource and its constantly being updated.
Welcome to the City!
A piece of advice: Avoid the AE teams at first. There's nothing actually wrong with them, but when you first start playing you will find that you level so fast you skip past a lot of cool stuff and don't really learn how to play that well.
I have nothing against AE, but it saddens me that so many new players jump right into it and end up with a level capped character before they even explore the game. It leads to people asking questions that they would have learned the answers to just playing normally.

Ok, I'll take some time to wander and learn before rushing into teams so - you would say do my own thing for a few days pr a week?
No, not that, just try actually playing the missions in the game. The AE teams are pretty much powerlevelling.
Currently playing:

There's nothing wrong with being a 'newbie' (that's where we all started) its being a 'noob' (totally stupid) which you will find is frowned upon.
Oh! and my tip to get your started is READ - read everything from the tutorial level onwards - and drop by here frequently of course. Another tip the guides forums are specifically helpful - if a touch out of date - where you can find all sorts of helpful advice on building your special hero.
Oh!...and beware the dreaded Altitus (the excessive making of alternative heroes) J/k.
Last but not least - just have fun.
There is always a lot to be thankful for, if you take the time to look. For example, I'm sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt. ~Author Unknown
Welcome aboard Sophie!
Welcome to the game. Have fun and might I put in a vote for starting on the Pinnacle server. We are not a very high population server, but we are a very helpful server. This seems to be right up your alley as you get started in the game and plan to solo mostly. And we love to drink and have fun. If you so choose Pinnacle, please drop by the forums and say hello, so we can get to know you better.
P.S. bring alcohol, lots of alcohol in various forms.

Hey there and welcome! I'll go ahead and throw in a pitch for Johnny and Belle and the other Taxibots and say that if you find yourself Infinity-ward, be sure to seek out those who have Taxi in their name. (Johnny Taxibot and Taxibot Belle lead the group.) They are a service-oriented group who like to help out new heroes, answer questions, and just be all-around helpful as they can. They also hold several events that are new player-friendly (or even veteran player, but new to some events), with a low-key, don't-blame-people attitude that makes teaming with them pretty fun.
Definitely drop by the Paragon Wiki, we try hard to make sure it is easy to understand and has all of the information (and way more) that any player could want. Also drop by the Titan Network at some point, with a bunch of sites and utilities (including the Paragon Wiki) to make your game experience more fun.
One small word of advice, like all forums, this one usually reacts very negatively to negative comments. If you do have questions, do ask, but please avoid couching complaints in the form of a question unless you're willing to be flamed for it. If you do have complaints or suggestions, there is a "Suggestions and Ideas" forum a few below this one, and until you get a feel from some of the stuff that is asked all the time, you might want to mention in such posts, "I'm new, and I don't really like x," or "I'm new, and I think they should change y." That might head off some of the "this is zillionth time this has been brought up!" replies.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

Teaming is good. It's actually one of the best ways to learn stuff about the game while you're playing.
All I meant about the AE thing is that a large percentage of people using AE aren't using it to play cool player-created missions. They are using it to level as fast as they possibly can with no travel time, usually playing the same mission over and over.
Another reason I had for saying it is an equally large percentage of people using AE don't know anything about the game outside of the AE building in Atlas Park. So, if you want to learn stuff about the game AE teams are not the best place to be. I have seen a number of people with level 50 characters that don't know simple things...like how to get to a different zone.
I'm not ragging on AE. It's an awesome feature that has a lot of cool stuff in it. It's just not the best place for a new player to start, as evidenced by the number of people that ask questions they should already know the answer to from just playing the game.
Solo if you want, or try to find a team that is running low level content. When you hit level 5 you might want to go to Kings Row and get your police scanner from the detective there. Run 3 of those missions and you will get a mission to stop a bank robbery. Succeed in the mission and you get a temporary travel power, which makes the low level stuff much more bearable.
After that you can go to the Hollows if you want, or run missions from whatever contact you get introduced to.
Most players are happy to answer questions you may have if you ask politely. There's jackholes out there who will give you crap for not knowing, but you find them anywhere, just ignore them. Thankfully there aren't really that many of them.
Oh yeah, the most important part of my post: As long as you're having fun, you're doing fine. Once again, welcome to the game and I hope to see you around!

Thank you, thank you
I'm still downloading the viewer, think my ISP is having a bad day !
I will try Pinnacle and Infinity then
I'll try not to be a noob
And I don't do flaming or bitchiness ! I'm all in it for fun, theres enough nastiness out theer in rl, so gaming should be fun imo.
I'll try to be a positive asset to the game, and to any teams that will have me down theline when I'm ready
And you ARE a friendly bunch - I'm liking it here already ! Can't wait to get suited up, tho that could take time to decide what to wear !
If you need any help on Pinnacle, feel free to let me know. You can ask me for help any time I'm on, by sending me a tell.
To do so, just type in your chat bar (bottom left hand corner of your screen) the following:
/tell @Aett Thorn, <insert message here>
I'll try to help you out where I can! But please don't feel bad coming to the forums and asking questions. We differentiate here between a newbie and a noob. A newbie is just somebody that is new to the game, and generally has questions because of this status. A noob is somebody, either new or not, who generally just doesn't understand things, and doesn't care to learn.
You're obviously the former, so ask away!

Hi there, welcome to the game! You can add me to the list of people willing to help out. My globals are @SunGryphon and @SemperFidelis. I play primarily on Virtue but I have characters on Pinnacle and Victory as well
Welcome to the madhouse - check your sanity at the door, you won't be needing it here.
And do remember that the game is about having FUN.

Decided to check Pinnacle out huh?
Definitely a good bunch o' peeps here. I can usually be found online between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM Central time (I work a weird schedule)
You can get ahold of me the same way that Aett gave you earlier in the thread, my global is @Claws and Effect. I have a couple lowbie toons that I can run, or I can exemp one of my higher toons down. (I'll explain how to do that if it seems like a good idea)

Looking forward to meeting some of you inworld !
