Noticed something you had seen before, again?

I recently did the arc for Allison King in Brickstown where I was running through Orenbaga collecting Crystals and fighting Akarist.

In three years of playing this game I have gone through Orenbaga plenty of times but it's been a while and I really noticed again just how cool those maps are.

An ancient, sunken, underground city of mystics is just a cool idea. Granted many of the maps are just tunnels but many rooms are giant underground chambers with large ruins in them. All the torches and stone ruins and ancient buildings just seem like something straight out of Indiana Jones.

I found myself completing missions then flying around just checking out the scenery. The waterfalls and the rocks and pillars and spires and what look to be ancient underground temples.

I actually find myself Wanting to see like a giant open zone of Orenbaga, like an underground city zone where you can just see a huge expanse of old ruins etc.

Anyway, I just thought it was cool to re-notice something and wondered if other people have similar experiences running into something they have seen before and say "Damn, this is still impressive."

P.S. Circle of Thorns are still a giant pain...

the first time i did an ornabega map, i nagged my friends to run the same arc as i had(this was pre cov and shared completion) yeah those maps are very well done. yeah, they share the faults that caves do, too enclosed, dead turns, and a nasty wedding cake room, but my word is it pretty.

I was gone on vacation for a week and a half recently. When I got back and had a chance to log on to the game, everything looked cool to me again because I had forgotten the visual "feel" of CoH in the meantime. That's about the best way I can describe it.

It makes sense for me I suppose because that's what drew me to the game in the first place. I normally dismiss computer games as a waste of time, but my roomie was playing this and I kept looking over his shoulder, "Say, this looks kind of neat..."

Actually the Visual and Audio feel of this game, even the menus and the opening music while I created my first character were very appealing to me. And the game world itself the same way. I still remember being hooked in about 10 minutes and the first rainy afternoon in early october that I played.

The new I15 sounds effects caught me almost immediately. I was on the Rookery static team, running Frostfire, and I noticed it when I ran through one of the little ponds that the drainage things in the northern Hollows have.

Proceeded to splash around like I was in a kiddie pool for the better part of five minutes.

Speaking of sounds, have you ever turned the volume up in an Orenbega map? Tons of cool sound effects working in the background there.

Also, it took me quite a while to notice the music in Ouroboros, but that music is also really cool.

Y'know Orenbanga would make a really cool non-instanced dungeon... just say'n....

The Oranbega maps were upgraded at least twice that I know of. The original versions if I recall correctly didn't have ANY of the spiffy "glowy bits" cycling around those big wall hangings, then they got some, and then there were more details added reasonably recently.

Myself I just love looking up in some of those caves and seeing the carved heads with waterfalls coming down out of them, or the single beam of light illuminating an open tome on an altar. I really love the Oranbegan maps.

And the thing that I always love, is coming back to Portal Corp for the first time in a while, and just absorbing the massive noise and screenshake of the portals.

Oranbega looks fantastic.

I just hate playing there. Especially since I have to fight the Circle of Cowards.

This may seem wierd, but up until either I13 or I14, I never recalled seeing a zone name at the top of the security entrances to the Hazzard Zones.
I don't mean at the guards you click on to go into the zone. I mean at the top of the War Wall entrance. It's just something I never really noticed before.

Thank you for the time...

I hate Oranbega.

Sure it's neat, but after a few million trips through (hi, hyperbole!) I'm sick of it.

To be fair, they DID change this earlier in the game's history. They didn't used to be there at all. Side-plaques, top of doorway, it was different. >_> I don't even notice them at all any more so I cant' even really say which way they ARE versus how they WERE, but they DID change.

I was in a Hami raid last night. That was my third time ever and my first time since... oh, sometime in 2004 I think?

I did a few RWZ ship raids this week too. The ship still looks very cool. And I was on an Eden Trial run -- not even a full-on speed one, amazingly enough! That was my third time for that one too, and I love the Eden maps, quite awe-inspiring.

They originally had the hazard zone's name above the door, engraved in whatever it is the war walls are made of. Then when they started up the European servers, they removed those and made the plagues beside the entrances, so the foreign language servers could be changed more easily apparently. (Not that big a deal for German or French probably, but there was the Korean version.) I am not certain when the last change went in.

That's been there for quite some time, actually.

What *is* annoying about entering a hazard zone is the guessing game you have to play with the guards.

"Let's see, which part of your anatomy do I have to click on today with the gropy blue hand to gain access to this zone? OH NO! NOT THERE!!!!"

Depressingly, I honeslty can't remember. obviously I've done new content as its come out and some of it has been different, but the last time I noticed something that wasn't immediately obvious and said, 'hey, thats cool'... honestly I don't know.
