It's not just 'quite good' - it's a flat-out *amazing* attack now. It's more powerful than the old power blast was, has a 40% accuracy *bonus* - no missing at low levels! - and guaranteed knockback. It's like someone took a standard 8 second recharge blast like subdue or lightning bolt and gave it a massive accuracy boost and a powerful secondary effect. Not to mention that it's an extremely quick animation for such a good attack - it is the best DPA attack in energy assault nowadays. Anyone who skips the new version of power push is straight-up insane.

Sure, the devs are supposed to listen to their customers, mister business 101 out there. And if I decide to start suggesting that the devs change the game from being about superheroes and supervillains to being about clowns that is my right as well, and technically Paragon Studios is supposed to pay attention to me. But I hope strongly that they assume a meth-head somehow managed to hack into my forum account and make paper airplanes out of my posts, because I hope they recognize stupid when they see it. I assume they will recognize futile just as accurately.

also a good power for 4 kinetic crash IOs for some KB/KD protection. im suprised they really upped power push's damage like that

Um, crazy.
With all the other changes did Energy Assault really need a FOURTH single target ranged attack? Are Defs and Blasters gonna get a similar change?

If we didn't have Push as a damaging power, it'd be hard to get a full attack chain going. Even at 50 with Hasten there are sometimes a few gaps in mine.

Well, one thing to consider is that Energy doesn't have a cone equivalent like Psychic Scream or Static Discharge. Total Focus and Power Burst, among others, also got much more damage than their Blaster equivalents. It may have gotten more single target damage because it has lower AoE damage.
OTOH, Psi Assault also got a much more damaging version of Telekinetic Thrust. It's a melee attack, not ranged, but otherwise has the same knockback effect.
The fact that it's melee is probably why it's dmg is higher than power push. Getting in melee counts as a risk I suppose...I wouldn't be surprised if it got looked at though.

btw, I have seen plenty of characters with such a combination of recharge and animation time that they still had gaps at high levels. Peacebringers and Katana come to mind, among others.

While I suppose it is possible to slot around, in general Kheldian forms are not going to have complete chains. They only have four attacks. And it's hard to come up with the slots to spare on Recharge on a Kheldian.
Personally, I consider that an excuse to just form change like crazy.

I don't feel like creating a new thread but would I gimp myself much by skipping both Bone Smasher and Total Focus? Hear me out.
I am trying Mind Control for the first time. Mind has a lot of useful powers and it is all ranged.
I looked at the numbers and /Energy's ranged dps is quite impressive. I mean Power Bolt, Push, Blast and Burst is a very solid attack chain. I don't know if I have much time using melee attacks to be honest. Mind control doesn't have -kb so my target after Power Push is always so far away unless I push him to a corner/wall.
Have any of you tried /Energy without melee? Or maybe just skipping Total Focus? I am not a huge fan of 3s attack. I feel 70% of the time it's either overkill or wasted. Another thing is other ATs use Total Focus for mag 4 stun as well but I already have hold. What do you think?
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

In I15, I could see all-ranged working just fine actually. You do less damage, but it's hardly weak damage. I disagree that Total Focus or Bone Smasher are overkill; on team settings, use them on Bosses/LTs. Solo, they're great. TF is only overkill solo if you use it on minions with under 50% health left.
PS, Power Push still allows a melee attack to go off after you use it, if you queue it up right away. Total Focus is also mag 3 stun for all ATs now.

I think I am only going to take Total Focus. Bone Smasher is nice but I've decided to fully slot both Power Push and Power Blast, which means I barely have time to cycle Bone Smasher especially after I got Power Burst.
I did notice that being Mind/Energy is a little bit problematic as I don't have -kb. I need to watch out when my Power Push pushes way too far. lol

Remember though that Mesmerize is something like 20ft longer distance, so you can always hit them again. Usually twice, since if you queue another attack immediately, it'll still fire while the enemy gets knocked back. Great way to make quick ranged attack chains that end with the enemy still mezzed.
