Migration to new Message Boards! ~Discussion~

Ohh...shiny new forum!

Well, this is sad. Every single link I click in a message (like in the guides) sends me to a 404 error.

Hello to our fellow heroes and villains on the US servers. Finally we are one.

And finally we have more contact with the Devs aswell.

(And when we get the tag _EU/_NA away, the last bit that classify us will be gone.
Must be cause of names existing on both servers)

Sometimes when writing a reply in a forum, I get long-winded, and even for shorter posts, I might go over it a few times to make sure I get the context, spelling, grammar, and nuance the way I want it to read. This can sometimes be kind of time-consuming. And sometimes I'll be doing things in other windows at the same time, flipping back to write a line or two or edit, then flipping elsewhere to tend to something else, and this even inflates that time.

So while writing just such a post today, apparently my login timed out. After pressing "submit", I received an error message saying it didn't work, because I wasn't logged in. Backing up to the composition page wasn't helpful, because everything I had written was gone -- my work was no longer even in the cache, or if it was, the forum was no-selling it.

I think an adjustment is in order for whatever it is that decides I'm not active enough to warrant a little consideration in the form of not logging me off in the middle of writing a post.

Aside from that, and the username/password thing, it looks like so far, so good for the new forums. ;)

well....it's nice that all CoX players are on the same boards together...bad thing is that the links within posts are broken....like in the guide to guides....other than that and the search function being funky about finding things...I guess I can live with it....but I'll miss the old forums....and the history that was found there.

Anyone else hating the new boards?!

I'm personally addicted to the "new posts" button, and have learned to scroll pretty quickly through the list it brings up.

I do miss the different color for unread/new postings, the bold is still not enough of a contrast.

I am not fond of the reputation feature, I don't like it on other forums either, it always seems to turn into a bizarre form of PvP. I don't think it's conducive to maintaining civility throughout the community. If anything, it seems to be a more polarizing feature. PvP activities were kept in a separate thread on the old forums for a reason, just like they're kept separate in game.

Other than that, everything else is just nitpicking in my book. *shrug*

OK, so we have all new message board software, but I still have to scroll all the way back to the top of the page to find the bread crumb trail?

The "bread crumb trail" is that part at the top of the board, where it says "City of Heroes Forums > English > News, Events & Announcements" and so on, with links to let you navigate.

This is disappointing. If there's an option somewhere in the forum software to display the breadcrumbs both at the bottom and the top, that would be a nice improvement.

Why doesn't the dev digest work? What could your forum support people possibly be doing that's more important than the dev digest? Fix the dev digest. Champions Online has a working dev digest. Fix the dev digest. Thanks.
