Paying For MA Runs?
I've considered offering power leveling or ticket farming services but there are too many people who feel they can get all the tickets and experience they need from pick up groups.
I think it would be too much work to explain to these people that a pick up group farming 54 bosses will take 45 minutes and earn you 1500 tickets and get you a few levels.
Compare this to joining a pimped out brute farming level 51 lt's. In 45 minute they can earn a lowbie 10,000 tickets and level them from level 1 to level 32. Personally I think I'd be happy to pay the brute for the leveling service, but it seems like the consensus is that this is OUTRAGEOUS!!!!
Wow. I thought I had seen a lot of goofy stuff in this game ... but this beats them all. Congrats to whomever did the broadcast on this nutjob.
Charging a fellow level 50 or even 40+ characters for MA runs is pretty ridiculous given that they could very well contribute to the team. However, I have no qualms about charging lowbies (level 20 and below) for MA runs *if* I even allow them to get on my team in the first place. To put it bluntly, a level 20 character is not going to bring nearly enough to the table to be worth the spot they're occupying. Of course there are exceptions to the rule such as the lowbie is someone's alt or friend and such. Still, as a general rule of thumb, I don't dish out charity to those who do not need or deserve it.
Edit: As a side note, letting lowbies into any AE farm is a privilege, not a right. Too often I see lowbies screaming and moaning on broadcast about how no one is inviting them to their AE farm as if they're somehow entitled. Why should people doing 52+ AE boss invite the lowbies? It's not like they're going to contribute much. They're just there leaching exp/ticket/inf and that's it.

Um... am I missing something here? Why doesn a 20 need to join a team of higher levels when he or she will make exactly the same number of tickets (or more) simply by taking on a farm of their own level?
If someone pays you, they should have their toon head examined.
'a pimped out brute'...when i see this i can't help thinking he means a brute that is being pimped out...you know, like by a pimp.

OMG... I think I met that guy... he told me the same thing... and in the 5 minutes that he kept talking to me (cuz I had already quit his team)... he told me that he had already cleared 2 runs... lmao...
I was like I dont need ur sploits... 2 runs in 5 min...
That's actually not a bad idea ... If my brute did have a pimp it should would make my life easier finding John's.
/b Level 50 Brute lf pimp to find me john's. PST
i ran into a guy on infinity trying to charge per every level you got in a mission. being me, i spoke up in broadcast and poked at him a little to get a rise. after about 5 mins of poking the guy finaly logged off. haven't seen him since.

What? We're not talking about lowbies getting into low level teams doing LTs or Freakshow farms. We're talking about lowbies trying to get into level 40-50 farm teams that are doing 52-54 boss farms. In those scenerios, they *should* be obligated to pay the people running the teams if asked. Why? Because someone else is doing all the work while they are getting the free benefits. They're only there by the good graces and generosity of the people running the show. AE isn't a welfare program.
Too often one of my level 50 brutes gets invited to a lowbie team with no one higher than 30. They expect me to basically run the mission for them. Naturally when I told them to pay me if I'm the one that's going to be doing the work, they all decline. Why would I do that for a bunch of strangers that I care nothing about? They can try to sucker someone else into that kind of raw deal. I only hand out charity to people that truly need it, not lazy schmucks that can actually get something done if they'd just put in some effort.
Yup. This title reminds me of a really bad night at a spicy restaurant. :O
But yeah, paying for MA is bad juujuu.

They use to do powerleveling back when it required specialized builds to farm PI portal missions. Back then all they needed was filler, you were getting in the way.
Now that anyone can form a team and farm for equal benefits thanks to tickets, so anyone who is capable of contributing is no longer a drag on profits.
paying for ma runs= disgust.

Judging from the responses so far in this thread, it's no wonder this country is heading down the road of bankruptcy within the next 25 years. So many people expecting free handouts and welfare like it's a birthright. I guess there's just no such thing as paying for services rendered anymore. Ah well, I guess I'll just continue following my own principles and not allow lowbies into my AE teams.
lol, capitalism knows no boundries.

I run farms on a 3 man team, myself, and 2 others. I could care less if the other 2 people participate or not, so essentially, they are getting a free ride. My farm mission gets a toon from level 1 to level 22 in two runs. I then realized I was possibly participating in leveling complete noobs and aiding in the ignorance level 50's now have. So now I charge 2mil a run for anyone under level 45. If they can afford 2mil per run, then they aren't really that new. I've also started a new toon recently, and played AE thinking I could PL him up through AE again. Boy was I wrong. You still need someone who knows how to PL. A team of lvl 1-20 isn't going to pl someone. I'd pay 30mil to get a toon to level 22, so 4mil to me is a huge bargain.
but . . . .

Funny that I read this post today as last night I had someone offer me 1 mil for a spot on my PUG MA team that I had just filled...
I told them that I don't charge for being on any team I start in the MA and they seemed suprised...So I think this may be a bit more prevalent than anyone may even guess...
While I don't think that charging toons for door sitting PL'n is bad, I don't allow anyone to door sit when I bring them into a team. Everybody must try to participate and help with mobs or they get the royal boot pretty quick as soon as I get the idea that they are not going to participate...
So, I'm sorry to all the entrepreneur's out there but I am still giving it away for free.

Out of curiosity, what are you farming for? And I'd be interested in seeing your technique (willing to pay, of course) - what server are you on?

I'm on Virtue, farm lvl 52 lt's, the rest of the people that are lower than 46 sk up to 46, and I use lots of defendable objects because of the ambushes. I also use destructable objects guarded by EB's that are Ice/FF.
I've heard of people charging for farm teams in the regular game, so I guess it's mot surprising that they've moved on to AE. However, I've never heard of anyone asking for payment for a spot on a random AE pick-up team.

Characters
I have a character villain-side whose search tag is "needs XP badly" that got propositioned for such a transaction. But personally, I don't think it's worth it to pay to be on *any* team.

Lemme guess....its usually some High level tank who forgets he needs outside help to actually clear a mission in a timely manner since they have .8 damage mod with slow recharge attacks......
People, get a team of buff/debuffers....ditch the blasters/scrappers/tanks/brutes/stalkers and goto town. You will be faster and safer. You will also feel like your contributing because you are.
Those At's i mentioned are relics of an old era......its time to move on. If you dont wanna move on, feel free to pay some idiot tank to pl you.

I don't think I'm reading the same thread you're reading.
Mainly I see people who are as disgusted as I am at people trying to charge others for MA missions.
They should all be ashamed.
Yesterday I get on an MA pick up team in atlas. It's me on my big pimpin', purpled out farming build fire/kin, a mid level toon, and another 50 fire/kin, whose set bonuses don't look so great, with the star.
We pick up a lowbie who then says "I'm not going to pay for a team" and quits. This seems odd. Next thing I know I get a trade request from the leader. Hmmmm. Accept it and then immediately close it when I see he's offering nothing. I ask him if he's charging for MA runs. He explains to me that it's 1 mil a run, but it's totally worth it because you'll more than make up for it in tickets blah blah blah.
I had so many responses fighting to get out that all I could muster was a "BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" in team chat and then quit the team. Needless to say, he was promptly lambasted in broadcast in the hope that no one else would be suckered into this.
Has anyone else seen anything like this? Who would pay for an MA run? At least in PI you had to have the foresight to get and hold the right missions, offer a sk, etc. There was at least some value add, although I'd still never pay for it.
Charging for MA, though? Thats just ridiculous. Trying to charge a level 50 with a vastly better build for an MA run? Priceless.
