I've always noticed that Lord Recluse has a pistol on his belt. What's it for? Is it just a normal handgun or does he have something "special" to use it for?

You can see it here in this wallpaper: http://www.cityofheroes.com/images/w...a1600X1200.jpg

Maybe he uses it when his Crab backpack breaks down? rofl

[/ QUOTE ]

The "channelgun" is actually an attack from the spider arms. Each individual arm, on a Crab Spider Backpack, is referred to as a "channelgun".

Though I do like to point out a small, interesting detail. Judging by that wallpaper picture, Lord Recluse is either A.) left-handed, or B.) a left-handed shooter.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well being left-handed is traditionally associated with evil.

Well, that means so is everyone else, since the pistol on the Official belt is on the left, too.

[/ QUOTE ]

I've always heard that if you're a righty, it's quicker to draw from a holster on your left (assuming the butt of the firearm is pointing forward, hard to tell in that peekchur).

The grip is facing behind the person in both REcluse's holster and the Official belt. Either that's an oversight by the devs (like how the powers Empty Clips and Blast Clip say "clip" instead of "magazine" ) or everyone's left handed.

Seriously though, check out the wiki page on left-handedness. I'm almost surprised that the left-hand gene made it through the dark ages.

Always made me wonder why the Katana powerset was left-handed as well. Unless they knew they were going to make Shields a long, long time ago and wanted to set the stage for no Kat/BS... [Puts on tin-foil hat]

He got the temp Power Revolver recipe and made it because it sounded like the cool thing to do back when it came out. He just never used it and still has the temp power.

[/ QUOTE ] No kidding.. that's why I said he uses it when the arms break down. While I realize LR doesn't actually have a crab backpack.. it was clearly a joke.

Because power customization looks quick and easy compared to having BackAlleyBrawler go and make Katana right-handed AND look good. Major "ready" and every-other-animation-or-stance-in-the-game issues.

So? That doesn't change history and the language. The Latin word for left is sinister. The French word is gauche. Left has had negative associations for a long, long time.

Why does Lord Recluse have a pistol?

[/ QUOTE ]

Because, like all villains, he's really a coward at heart, and it makes him "feel" safer.

Posted

It's used to drain a foe of their endurance and recovery, making them easy to defeat, kill, or capture.

Oh and "pk", why do you think ALL villains are cowardly, it honestly takes a lot to go toe to toe with more than one "Hero" alone and win, or sometimes lose.

Posted

Because it takes courage to follow the rules when people are by nature selfish. It takes no courage to make your own and live a selfish life.

Has anyone mentioned habit?

Here's my reasoning. If I recall correctly, Stefan Richter was born in the late 1800's and became an adventurer in the early 1900's. Adventuring at that time almost required a sidearm of some kind. <Think Doc Savage/Phantom/Shadow school of heroes>
Besides, its an easy way of getting rid of annoying peons. It just shows a level of contempt that beating them down with super strength just doesn't give.

It takes more courage to break the rules that everyone else follows when you think they're wrong. When you do that, you get called the villain. Maybe the only difference between a hero and a villain is that the hero is the one that won.

As to why Recluse carries a pistol, obviously he's a arachno-thugs Mastermind. Thugs masterminds always have pistols, even if they never use them.

Of course that's exactly what a villain would say to justify their actions.

Posted

Because if someone captures him and takes away his spider legs they could easily forget to take away his pistol.

He has a pistol because no one has taken it off him.
He has a pistol because of tha secret nullify powers set is coming.
