If 8 villains were stupid enough to rob City Hall?

****SPOILERS****

(ERR...sorta)

OK the first mission of the Barracuda Strike Force (5th Column return) has 8 villains (with some Arachnos transport support) attacking City Hall in Atlas. Yes, of course, this is an instance, but could you imagine what would happen if 8 villains really tried this.

Ignore the drones. Besides Ms. Liberty, on most servers there would be dozens of heroes on site in seconds.

This gets replayed over and over in COV, but only once IIRC in City of Heroes, on the STF.

It got me wondering. Should those encounters be rewritten? Not necessarily to make them harder (although that might be the effect), but instead to add a whole lot of generic "heroes" (and in the case of the STF, "Villains") to the maps of missions where you attack opposite side zones.

So instead of dozens of generic PPD and/or Longbow, you have SpiritKnight and Starry Lass, etc. And of different levels too. Having a costume contest going on in a mission would be the height of immersion IMO.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

It's my opinion that AP would be the perfect place for the odd BSF to show up randomly as part of their SF.

Or make it even more fun. Whenever you get to that point in the Strike Force... A hero event message is sent out calling for heroes to defend City Hall... They then take a teleport at their city hall to the one you are currently in....

Could you imagine how bad*** you would feel if you were able to complete the mission anyway?

It would never happen.

It needs to be random.

Preferably at the high point of the population of the zone, like a costume contest or something.

I created a MA arc where one of the missions had you attack the costume contest in Atlas Park on Virtue. It clearly stated to bring other villains and it was based on the real builds people use. Then I got these e-mails from cretins who were mad because they could not solo the mission.

This is pretty much what went through my head along with visions of a black and neon green "huge" hero, height slider all the way down, doing the monkey dance emote in front of your entire strike force spamming "invite pls" in local the whole time.

alot of level 50 heros hang out under atlas as well.

Jay Doherty: Yes, there was this one night that I was ready to go home but had to drop the browns off at the super bowl before I left for home. While on the throne it hit me. I stayed for a few more hours and that why we have the pain pads in the game.

Well probably, the greys would just stand there and watch while the 50s pour out of: AE, Wentworth's, Vanguard, and Ouroboros to pwn you!

Likewise, it'd be cool to have a window that opens to Mercy Island or something for 50's to pour into Villains and pound the hell out of the lowbies there until the villain 50's arrive.

If it is just like a bank mission I'd be willing to bet on me the first two, three or five times or so. Once the heroes realize what they are up against and decide to organize and work together we'd have a good fight and my team of 8 villains likely would get overwhelmed. But those first few times when people just lunge at my armies individually we'd butcher through heroes by the hundreds.

Sure, click on the doors to City Hall. There are 6 Thug/Storm MMs setting a trap for ya

This was my thought. Even ignoring the drones, Ms. Liberty, the City Rep (whom I've always suspected of being some sort of secret hero), and all of the origin contacts in the immediate vicinity, the platform under Atlas is always rife with bored 50s lording it over younger heroes. City Hall would be filled to capacity within about 14 seconds of everyone being told there were Villains to maul inside

But thats just it. You and your friends are taking down wave after wave of gray's... and they keep hosping and coming back. Wave after wave of the same heroes, unending. Eventually either they'll work together well enough to take you out, or your end would sap enough that you'd be the ones getting picked off 10s of HP at a time. Haha. The power of the inability to kill your foes.

I don't think you have a very realistic expectation of what would occur. I do some pretty silly things and have some pretty crazy friends.

My friends and I would bring 5 Thug/Storm MMs and 3 Sonic Corruptors. We'll be at the defense and resistance caps. We'll have 5 Hurricanes running and 5 Freezing Rains flying around. 5 Masterminds with Taunt with bodyguard mode and 10 trillion thugs. We'll all stand next to each other and press Team Teleport 5 times or whatever to the exit.

If we don't die instantly when we exit the door to City Hall we're free. That's your only chance. There's not going to be time to run back from the hospital and try again. There's not going to be time to ping us to death with 10 damage at a time.

All of the heroes need to rush to the door of City Hall, and stand around and buff each other and wait. They can't come inside. They can't rush us one at a time. They can't run back from the hospital. Once the heroes figure that out... yeah... we're in trouble. Until that's figured out no amount of level 40s and lower are going to mean anything.

*EDIT* 8 random PuG (Pick up Group) villains trying to do the mission would probably experience exactly what you and many others have described. I'm just not 8 Random Puggers

[/ QUOTE ]

Judging from the old days of RP in Gemini Park on Virtue, villains attacking Galaxy are met with 80% indifference, 10% attempts to put them into headlocks, and 10% being utterly wiped out of existence, flung into space, or blown up.
