All those Purples...Gone
ouch that really does suck :-(
on the plus side at least you didnt have to waste a bunch of respecs trying to get them out of other toons to slot in the ones you want them for now.
(yeah not much of a plus but still)
Not sure what's worse - willingly vending expensive recipes and then later realizing what they're worth, or accidentally vending them when you're fully aware of their value.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."

Yeah, and then just clumsiness... I've accidently given a recipe worth several million to another toon by dragging and dropping to soon...
[other toon]: Thank You!!!
[Me]: Uhm...did I just *accidently* give you a Performance Shifter...
(long pause)
[other toon]: No...
(other toon quickly leaves)

I wasted 3 Vet Respecs on my PB stripping him near bare.
I will happily delete a Hecatomb: Chance for Negative Energy Damage IO, just as easily as I once tore apart a Mox Ruby and an Ancestral Recall in front of a group of other Magic players.
It's only influence!
I once stuck a table fork in a Beta edition Fork spell...
Then again I'm not seeing a good parallel of magic cards to IO's. A parallel to be sure, but not a good one.
What would be "good" to you?

Deleting a piece of digital code(Hecatomb) is one thing, but tearing apart a Mox Ruby? Instead of just selling it for $150-400 ... REAL cold-hard-cash MONEY? Sorry, but that's just REALLY stupid, at the very least you could've given it to someone as an overpriced present.

Fail.
Your analogy falls apart when the issue of value comes into question. As already mentioned the cards you destroyed have a real dollar value attached to them that is not insignificant and there is an active and ready secondary market for magic cards in which to liquidate them. Because of this they are not comparable to your Hecatomb proc. Try again.
Worth nothing to me
Looking at what the card does seems like nothing.
I never got into that game.( never got into any card games for that matter) $400 for a small card is crazy IMO. To each their own I guess.
But vendering a purple or unique, Heh....Wow, suckage.

You can sell it for actual-cash-real-world money. So it's worth $400 (or whatever the going price was at the time). If $400 is nothing to you, well, that must be nice.

Ripping up a mox ruby is like throwing half an once of gold into the deepest part of the ocean. You can't buy anything with either of them, but they're worth actual money to actual people.
So yeah, you threw half an ounce of gold into the ocean because it wasn't worth anything to you.

Unlikely. Calling these cards by name mean you know their value. So, they were either not yours, the story is untrue, you are so wealthy throwing away money is acceptable, the cards were in a condition that made them not valuable, or you are/were mentally deficient. Of those possible situations, the story being untrue is the most likely.
Also, while the purple sets are indeed awesome, they aren't alway the best set or the character... Maybe you can take some comfort in the OP =)
/Agree with Nibb_Nibb!
Most of my characters only use one or two of them (mostly for the huge rech bonus most of those sets give)

You could sell a Mox or AR for a lot more real-world money than you could sell a purple for, unless you hoodwinked someone on the real-world trade value of the purple or found someone who treats real-world money like a lot of us do influence.
I'm not a magic player any more, but I'd be aghast at someone wasting that much potential income.

I ripped up a Charmander card once in pure rage.
It was a foil, too.
"I do it better than anybody you've ever seen do it.
The screams from the haters, it's got a nice ring to it.
I guess every super hero needs his theme music .."
Well, it IS possible. I had a friend who tore up a Chaos Orb at a Con a few years ago. Yes, its only worth a couple hundred vs a Mox, but still....... It was actually a spontaneous publicity stunt he used to get a lot of attention for his vendor booth. Of course it worked! And it is also possible the poster here did it before the cards skyrocketed in price. I know I still mourn the fact I had to sell my power 9 before the price spiked
Those conditions aside, or something equally extradinary it was indeed foolish to do that. IMHO
I'll tear up a Chaos Confetti, but that's as high as I'll go.
Just humorous musing...
I've only started getting interested in the market recently, but I've learned pretty quickly and I think I do pretty well now. Before that, I'd leveled up 2 50s using nothing but SOs...and just selling every*single*recipe*and*salvage I came across to some contact or other.
Now that I'm trying to purple a 50 and realize the prices they go far, I recall actually selling a few of those precious things to some no-name contact (along with Numina's, Miracles...) for just a few thousand each...sigh
Waaaahhhhhhh!
