can u fill for a sec pls
You join their team. They enter their mission (you don't; you don't even have to be in the same zone, or a viable level range). They map the mission (spawn all the dudes). You quit or are kicked. They enjoy their mission that is spawned for more than their team makeup.

ahhh ic... well thats cool... if they spent 2 extra seconds typing they might get more help (need an extra person for 2 seconds to spawn a larger mission)... with all the scams in the world today... I like to err on the side of paranoid
thnx 4 the response
It's a widespread question so most people don't care to elaborate. Most people know what it means. The farmers/challenge-makers get their answers (yes or no or silence) and that's all that matters to them.

But...that's what "fill" means.
An knowing is half the battle.
I seldom ask people to fill. I did that a couple times for a respec trial. I asked people to fill such that I could start. They were welcomed to stay though but they all quitted. lol I tried once for ITF. I wanted to do a "slow" ITF with my friend such that we could both know what the TF is really about. Again, they were welcomed to stay, but of coz, after they knew that it would be "slow," they all quitted again.

Or on the other hand you could have done the same and asked them for clarification instead of just putting them on global ignore. At least they asked you first instead of sending a blind invite.
Btw, this is often done to help meet the minimum requirements to run a Task Force or Strike Force.

I think that would be more appropriate in the u no wat? thread.
I've never had anyone use the term "fill" or send a "fill pls?" tell to spawn a Task Force. I know it can be done, but when so doing, people have (so far) always differentiated the request from the standard fill spam, usually by saying something like "Can you help us start a Synapse?"
Don't feel too bad about putting the fill tellers on ignore. They're only using you, not interacting with you.

This video should help.
I share in your frustration. One of my alts was being asked "Mind filling for a sec" numerous times by someone.
Now when this happens I check my search status to make sure it states that I do not fill. Sure enough the status still said "Ask First, No Fill-ins Accepted".
Do these morons not know how to READ???
They searched for my character to ask whether or not they would fill, they NEEDED to have seen the message because they wouldn't have sent a tell otherwise, and my alt was not near a place where a task force leader would have been trolling for fills.
Maybe we are taking this the wrong way... I think from now on I will be telling people if they want me to fill they need to pay me a million influence - in advance. If they want me to waste my time, they should make it worth my while.
What do you think, guys? A million inf paid in advance for fills?

I've gotten some spectacularly polite requests for this during the past few weeks. They have punctuation, capitalization, and even say please. Of course, it's a bind. But if I'm soloing outside or playing on the market or just standing in one of my favorite spots talking to myself as seems so common lately... I have no problem filling for people.
There have been numerous occasions where I was trying to test the limits on a scrapper whether with a normal mission or soloing a TF and it's been quite difficult to find people to help get things rolling. I generally don't farm and my tells are impeccably polite. Filling gets a bad reputation, the practice isn't naughty in and of itself.
I have filled for people alot and actually wound up making alot of friends that way and getting invited into the missions. Also it is common for tf's and the only reason they elaborate more for that is because you actually need to be inzone for that one.

I'm a very willing filler. I do get annoyed with one thing - when I get asked "can you fill for a sec?" and it becomes 5 minutes. Please provide a reasonable guess for how long it will take. If I'm the first filler and you're looking for 7, that's not a time to ask to fill for a sec. Yesterday someone asked me to "fill for a sec" then they proceeded to set the Atta map in MA. That was far more than a sec!
If I'm doing something that doesn't require me to do anything (I know, I know) I'll fill if they bothered to set a polite fill plz bind.

Great thread. I've been around forever and thought I knew how "fill" worked ... but turns out I didn't. I thought you had to not only be in the same zone, but actually enter the mission. So I thought these invites were incredibly rude.
Turns out there were many times I could have said yes (and will in the future), especially when I am in WW in bidding or shopping mod.
One question for those in the know, though: When filling, do I have to be the same level as those wanting to trigger their maps? Does it work if I'm 6+ levels higher or lower?

It does not matter.
And I'm with the faction that will willingly agree to fill if I'm doing some market stuff or editing my base or at the Tailor.
In fact, I'm betting that a couple of my characters are on someone's "Friend" list because I keep seeing the same people ask for pads more than once. Since I may be on at non-standard playtimes (currently job-hunting and I take breaks in the City) - I bet I'm a good "Friend" to have for some farmers who are doing their thing at those times.

Some people have asked a number of my characters in the game to fill in temporarily, and I always ask them why. They then say that it's so the spawns in the mission they're about to enter will be both tougher and bigger. When I ask them why didn't they just change their difficulty level to get the same results, only a few said they were already at the highest possible difficulty level. But most were on, so they said, Heroic. I always turn them down.

A lot of these people just use /whoall and get a list of players in the zone so they never see your search comment
I am used to getting blind invites to a group... and there are also people who will ask you to a grp telling you what the grp is in advance... but recently I have been getting a lot of tells that go...
can you fill for a sec plz
I have been promptly putting these people on global ignore, bit my list is filling up fast...
is this some kind of scam that I am not aware of... I mean ok... when someone says fill for a sec... they do not literally mean 1 second... but then what... I am taking your place for 5 minutes? longer? how does this become a quick favor? are you that important, that your group will miss you that bad for 5 minutes (keep in mind 50 Blaster, all I am is dps)?
any longer than that negates the whole sec concept, which is why I just write this off as a scam... anyone else getting these tells? maybe its nothing... but it just seems to not make sense...
