Yeah I know I know these threads are frowned on but I do know lots of peeps here so I gotta just post and say "bye".

I've seen the changes to Psi Shockwave and with this added to all the other recent changes it's all now seriously going too far and I'm off to go play other things.

I swore a long long time ago when I only had 1 lil villain that if anything happened to Psi Shockwave then I'd go. And it has, big time. So I'm out.

If the change gets reversed then someone send me an email or PM or something

Is it really that important of a power?
I'm not being sarcastic, I've never played a Psi past lvl 12, so I really want to know. And what are these changes?

I'm not really trying to talk you out of leaving (although I'd like to see you stay) I'd really like to know some background on this. I've teamed with you in the past, and conversed here on the forums with you, so I know you not to be a rash person. You obviously have some genuine concerns. I'd just like to hear more about them.

Can ya fill us in Dolly?

Psychic Shockwave: Decreased this power’s damage scale from 1.96 to 1.21, increased its recharge from 10 seconds to 20 seconds, increased its endurance cost from 10.2 to 18.51 and decreased its radius from 25 feet to 15 feet.

Psi Shockwave got beat like rented mule. All the other powers got a boost, and this one payed for all it dearly.

I'd recommend waiting until live. From the Dev comments, it's pretty clear that they are working toward a good balance. I'm sure that the numbers will change again (and again), in the player's favor.

Almost Doubling the End Cost? EXACTLY DOUBLING the Recharge, and lowering the Damage and Range? How the hell can they justify that?

And am I to expect they will NOT be making these same changes to the Enemies (read: Carnies) version of this power?

It seriously could not have been nerfed any harder.

I could have lived with the damage and endurance. But the recharge and range turn it into a completely different (and vastly inferior) power.

Yeah, the range or the recharge, but not both.
As it stood, it was down right savage, and with the non-domination damage boost, it did need a little scaling back on that front.

Keep in mind as someone mentioned they load to test the first setup of a change set to the highest extreme, then dial it back before live depending on datamining/feedback. But PS will get changed, everyone knew it would.

I might test how the changes feel on my fire/psy, but personally I thought Doms were fine as is (was), I think the problem came, as it usually does, with lousy players.

Geez, I have played a lot of MMOs, but this is the first time I think I have seen someone quit playing a game due to a change in one single power/spell.

Then I must be a lousy player, 'cause I can't stand my Gravity / Electricity Assault Dominator. It's so weak compared to every other toon I've had. I somehow managed to get him to level 50, but I've hardly touched him since.

Every other toon I have, I changed my difficulty to level 4 at level 32, and never had a problem. He was still at difficulty 2 at level 50, and still had problems. :\

It always kills me when people list the one nerf to a powerset (psi shockwave) but don't list the buffs that are going along with it....

Psionic Dart: Increased this power’s damage scale from .6 to 1.32, increased its recharge from 1.5 seconds to 6 seconds and increased its endurance cost from 3.12 to 6.86.

Mind Probe: Increased this power’s damage scale from 1.64 to 1.96, increased its recharge from 8 to 10.

Telekinetic Thrust: Increased this power’s damage scale from .8 to 1.64, increased its recharge from 6 to 8 and decreased its endurance cost from 10.2 to 8.53.

Mental Blast: Increased this power’s damage scale from 1 to 1.64, increased its recharge from 4 to 8 seconds and increased its endurance cost from 5.2 to 8.528.

Psychic Scream: Increased this power’s damage scale from 1.04 to 1.3, increased its recharge from 12 to 16 seconds and increased its endurance cost from 11.9 to 15.18.

HOnestly I heading the same direction... all I been seening over and over each issue is Nerf this and nerf that. Making power Crappy and Slow. I honesty think dev's a Retard and deserve to lose your job. Dolly is a veteran and including my self. I'm feed up my self but will wait until I say my good bye.
This game use to be a high speed game now it seem like it setup for slow kids. To Hunter you might be a new guy but its not a single power its been the changes and changes the dev's have been doing for awhile now. I feel this game going take a big hit after Champion Online launch. I hope these dev's lose there jobs. They have made poor choices if you see on 400 pages thread that was out late last month. I why gimp a dominator psi-wave.. Dominators already do weak damage.

Well changing a power for the worse never goes over well and I could understand how that would be annoying.

But I'm just trying to say that it looks like only that power lost out on damage, they buffed the damage on all the other powers in that set.

Boost power that suck and still suck with the boost doesn't make up for the nerfing the already done or going to. Each issue that comes out we expect they going nerf something. I guess the dev's are so bored that they need to seem like there working. Psi-wave was a good AOE damage dealer for a weak dom. Its wasn't uber or wow to say its was a decent AOE damage. Its getting retarded while we invest toon with Io's and Purple this and Purple that. Just to find out its going get nerf. Alot you SO's or Barely IO toon wont understand. To IO a toon now cost about 1-3billion to fully IO a toon. Thats alot of time grinding cash and hoping to get good drops. a 1-3billion toon now worthless gimping it. I hope they give few respec to strip the toon.

This post doesn't exactly help the argument against leaving due to the Psi Nerf. It actually fuels it.
The increases to the Damage don't off-set the recharge and end nerfs.
In fact, If you crunch the numbers, I'm pretty sure with the recharge increases, you are still down on Damage Per Minute. Just going by a quick scan of the numbers off the top of my head.

So, basically, all of Psi is being Nerfed, but the Shockwave got the biggest hit.

If this was my Main that was taking this hit, I might be prompted to consider my account status too. I might not completely leave, but I surely would feel slighted and less likely to sacrifice other hobbies to make sure my monthly CoH bill got paid.

Psy shockwave is really the best thing about /psy. The supernerf in place is on the scale of the Invince nerf way, way back. It takes a good, fun set and removes the lynchpin to let the rest of the set fall apart.

The only other good thing about Psy was the fast attack chain in the first few powers, each one has had its recharge almost doubled in the new changes.

A 20% damage buff means nothing when you have to wait 20% more to use your powers. It means DPS stays the same as before and the T9 is moved back to a T3 or so.

I wish I could test this but the test patcher is borked for a lot of people, including me.

I feel ya, Doll. If this was on my main I'd be very sad. Since my Dom is my main villain I'm still disappointed in it. That being said, the changes aren't live yet so there is a chance(slim) that they will be rebalanced to something more fair.

There are a couple more things he didn't mention.

1) Damage outside of Domination is being buffed substantially. This works out to an across-the-board damage buff to Dominators (outside of double Domination).

2) PSW has violated the AoE rules since its inception, and not by a little, by a ton. Castle is currently discussing the changes, so you can check out the Dev Notes to learn more, but PSW was actually broken AND overpowered, so part of this is a fix to the bugged portion of the power while the other is bringing it closer to in line with the AoE rules (it's actually going to still be overpowered, if I remember correctly, just not by a massive margin). It's actually still broken on Test in its current inception (wrong modifier, it will be getting a higher modifier in the next build), and all the Dev changes are still being reviewed on Test (Castle responded to someone who said the End changes were wiping out their lower level Doms by thanking them for the input, so I'd be surprised if some End costs don't get adjusted some). Doms are being reworked so that they will be more effective at lower levels and not require permaDom to be as useful. This translates to an across-the-board damage buff, so it's perfectly understandable that this is the perfect time to adjust the RIDICULOUSLY overpowered AoE instead of actually making it even more overpowered.

I don't have the AoE Rules post saved, so I'll have to get some help in finding it, but once I do, I'll link it here so you can see the numbers that PSW has.

you forget that dom get a base buff to damage out of Domination.

Castle did say he wanted non perma-dom to be buffed. so if you combined the 2 ( base buff +increased damage) I think it is enough to off-set the need to increase the end and recharge.

If you take everything out of context.. then maybe it does look like a nerf.. but the only way to know would be to play it. Oh and maybe you would like to read this http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....v=#Post13606859

To me that prove that Castle is ready to play around and fix it. It's not yet set in stone... so don't cry DOOOM over forum number. ( you can do it if it get s ported over to Live As-is ... which I doubt it would be)

BTW, note that I am not saying I'm in favor or against a PSW nerf because I don't have a dog in that race. Really, I could care less. I'm just saying that the numbers actually do back up a nerf of some kind. Whether the current nerf is too much or not isn't something I can determine because I haven't tested it which is also something no one else has done since it's still not even working right on Test.

Still Dom damage output still is weak.. Psi-Wave to my opinion wasn't broke or over power. Yes it was better once you had toon IOed out. Last I have say is get it **** done the first time and stop changing crap. Stop trying to adjust power so it can be equal... leave it how it is.

PSW was only broke and overpowered if you paid attention to numbers. Fortunately, I doubt that's something that has ever been a problem for you.
