Pick a secondary for me.

So I need to roll a new toon. I am rolling this guy to mainly duo with a Dark/Dual Blades tank. We will certainly join larger teams on occasion and do task forces, but we enjoy running arcs with just our duo, mainly.

As a background on me, I have a 50 TA/A, 50 Fire/Kin, 32 Kin/Rad that is one of my current projects, and a 29 Eath/Thermal which is losing my interest.

I *love* the Kin set but since a Kin defender is one of my current projects I'll probably stay away from anything Kin on this guy.

I'm pretty sure I've settled on a Dark defender to pair with him. The Fear and -ToHit stacking seems nice. The one real problem I see with the Dark primary is I have no endurance buff, and a Dark/DB tank is going to be hurting for End a lot.

So unless you're going to try to talk me out of Dark, what is a good idea for a secondary? I'm currently leaning towards Sonic for the -Res. I've done Archery, I'm currently doing Rad and I really don't have much interest in Electrical or Energy. I've long thought of rolling a Dark/Dark, but the -ToHit from the my primary and the tank's primary would seem to make the secondary effect of Dark Blast a bit excessive.

So help me out here. Give me some ideas and the pros/cons.

Well, if you're looking for an endurance buff to give the Dark/DB Tank, Kin is really the only thing. Rad's AM is far less effective as an endurance buff than Speed Boost (let alone SB + Transference) but makes up for it by providing a bunch of other stuff. Frankly, Kineticists are the masters of +damage and endurance buffs. That's what they do.

Plenty of people, however, play Tankers and all sorts of other stuff without Endurance buffs of any kind. I wouldn't say that an endurance buff is a must. The Dark/DB Tank can take Stamina and slot EndRedux and should be able to do just fine.

Given what you've done before, I agree that Dark Miasma is a fine choice. If you're really concerned about endurance buffs you could go for Empathy, which is the other primary which offers really powerful endurance buffs, but in my opinion the Dark Miasma is probably better for what you're looking at and would have good synergy.

So as for secondaries, I wouldn't count out Dark Blast. The -tohit, especially if you end up ramping up your difficulty later on, can still be very significant. It also offers really excellent damage over time and helps to keep things in one place with Tenebrous Tentacles. I'm a big fan of Dark Blast.

Other good options include Sonic for the -res debuffs, Ice for the slows and and Psy for the soft control and -recharge. Dark/Sonic in particular is an excellent soloist/small teams choice and I think I'd go with Sonic if not Dark.

Dark/elec! Dark/elec! for no other reason than it is my favorite defender combo!

Cold/ Might be pretty awesome. He'd have tons of defense plus later on you get that endurance power.

I would honestly recommend going empathy for your primary. You provide an excellent to hit, defence and damage buff with fortitude and provide unlimited endurance between recovery aura and adrenalin boost. Not to mention the regen and recharge you can provide.

I would then add dark blast for the. -tohit and stacking the stun from dark pit with oppressive gloom. Then lock them down with TT and you're good to go.

Dark/Ice is a lot of fun. The ice set seems more powerful. The extra slows on top of tar patch are yummy. Freeze Ray, Petrifying Gaze and a Dark Servant gives you three sources of hold.

Dark/Sonic: Sonic goes well with everything with the stacked -resistance debuffs.

Don't count out Dark/Electric. It's a very potent combo in proficient hands.

fix'd.

My dark tankers really only start to hurt in the 30-35 range, which, conveniently, cold gets heat loss at 32.

as for a secondary. If your friend is a really good tanker, I'd recommend rad. Cold/Rad is a really fun combination with lots of AoE carnage, the only issue is that they tend to be aggro-mongers, so unless your friend is good at grabbing and holding aggro, you're going to face plant... a lot

Dark/Dark FTMFW!

The Tentacles and Tar patch are going to be nice when he starts swinging those Dual Blades around. And in some Fear, Nightfall, and one of the fattest heals in the game... there will be good times all around.

You might give /Psi a thought, since your partner is dealing lethal damage. Backing him up with the Psi damage type will make certain villain groups a whole lot less of a pain.

It's okay, he's got TK Blast in his set.

Made an AR/Dev blaster, had fun. Then ED came. AR/Dev sucked. Quit for two years. Came back for a while. AR/Dev still sucks. Quit after getting bored again. Came back. AR/Dev still sucks.
