  1. I ran the driver sweeper, reinstalled the old drivers, and then attempted to reboot CoX. No go.

    I gave up on working with the drivers and crap, so I just reformatted and reinstalled everything. Finally got it to work.
  2. I have attempted to install several new drivers on my ASUS laptop, all of which have made my system unstable and crash. Would running the driver sweeper software fix this?

    If not, do you know of any drivers that would work on an ASUS G73Jh system that are compatible with the game? The card this laptop uses is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870.
  3. Hi, I'd just like to update that the game is still unplayable on my laptop. The command parameter to bypass the driver check does nothing to help. It gives me the same error, attempts to load the game, then crashes.

    Is there an ETA on a fix for this? It's been a week, and I'd really like a status update on this.

  5. Does this mean that you're going to attempt to make the newest driver compatible with City of Heroes?

    If so, in the mean time, could you roll back that driver block update?
  6. I really doubt that any changes they've made to the engine required them to make it so that drivers that aren't up to date caused huge issues with people.

    When there's a big sticky at the top of this forum warning people that the new AMD drivers DO NOT WORK with City of Heroes and they force this through, that's not really on the player's end of things.

    Edit: Actually, with their track record of patch notes, that's not actually something too far out of the realm of plausibility.

    Why they had to update the driver check is beyond me.
  9. I'd love to be able to get in game during the weekend, but it looks like that's not going to happen.

    I almost sent in my laptop for repairs (although I still might, I've been having trouble with it).

    Anyway, I hope they fix this quickly.

    These skills say they give resistance to all damage, but actually only give resist to Smashing/Lethal.

    Is this a bug, or intended?

  13. Yeah, it always felt like 6 seconds, though.

    Seriously annoying to use it and root yourself for that long.
  14. MA: Low single target DPS, Stun secondary in many attacks. Smashing damage, good against hard enemies (robots, DE), many enemies have resists to it

    DM: One of the attacks takes 6 seconds to animate. Variety of powers with different utilities. Accuracy debuff inheirant. No direct Build Up Skill.

    ...I think, that's what was up the last time I played.

    Dear Devs,

    I came back after a long absence and found a broken train wreck of pvp. What's up with all these changes?

    Just saying, but it was entirely possible to kill someone fully buffed with max resistance and defense pre pvp nerf.

    I can understand some of the changes. Like heal decay, I could conceivably see decay at a rate of like 5 percent per heal, up to a cap. The resist on mezzes I can also see, but to this degree is... well, from what I've seen, it's like... Dominators and Controllers have been removed from the game. And buffing? Seriously?

    But yeah, I'm not satisfied with all these changes. I wasn't a top level PvPer by any means, but like, these changes are pretty much ridiculous. Not going into PvP zones.

    Redraw question

    So the AR/Dev blaster taking the animation into the to the activation time is not supposed to happen?

    Like I said, I've observed it (broadsword redraw) activating with the redraw taken into account. Is this also working incorrectly?

    Also, yeah, I know it's much shorter, but I just gave some random numbers out. I also like the number two.

    Redraw question

    Hi, I just got back after a long break.

    Back before I left, weapon redraw was a very annoying hindrance that many players learned to live with, but I'd heard that it was fixed with the redraw animation taken into account for the power activation time.

    While I find this is true on my AR/Dev blaster, I'm constantly finding this is not the case for my BS/SM scrapper. I think that this is a bug, as I'm able to sometimes (perhaps 10 percent of the time) see the "sped up" animation of the powerset. I know that this is the case when it happens, because I've seen the effects of the redraw/animation in my AR/Dev blaster.

    What happens most of the time with this set is that the weapon comes out, activates, and then animates. Arbritrary numbers that aren't true but server to see if I'm correct in this:

    Power activates in 2 seconds
    Redraw is 2 second
    Power Activation + Redraw SHOULD equal 2 seconds

    Is this correct?

    What seems to happen is:
    Power Activation + Redraw = 4 seconds.

    What makes me think this is bugged is the fact that it doesn't happen all the time. I first though it was the fact that the shield toggles were on (and thusly affected animation times + redraw), and got it to work fine (with a two second animation instead of the four), but then immediately after I had a nice pattern going, I turned on my toggles and then got 2 second redraw + animation attacks in a row.

    Is this just me being dumb, or is this supposed to happen?

    Hmmm. A loaded question. We just added Archery and Sonics for heroes; there a number of new sets for villains. We’ll continue to add more stuff in the future: Thugs (for Masterminds), Shields (Tankers and Scrappers), etc
