Atlas?

I would love to do an ouroboros or Praetorian mission with Atlas. It's been bugging me for years, since I don't know how big he is. Some of the plaque descriptions make him seem bigger than anything else in the game, and I'm curious.

So. Yeah. My suggestion. Let's face, or fight with, an Atlas. I'm sure he would pwn us.

The problem is the issue of CAN the developers make him? I'm pretty sure not, if his entire foot was bigger than most buildings in the game. Imagine the devs trying to be able to fit him into a map, or into any sort of functioning point in the game.

Sigium i'm fairly sure the Atlas statue isn't actual size.

You are right it isn't life size. The statue is a miniature 1/35 scale.

Yup. I believe that Atlas could go from normal size to Gigantic size, as he saw fit. Either that, or he was just Gigantic. He's bigger (or could be bigger) than the statue in Atlas Park.

What are you even basing that on? I can't find any indication of Atlas being that massive.

So there. Neener neener neener.

The lore from what I've assumed that he could pretty much become huge.

Also, would be pretty stupid for him to have the superhero name Atlas if it wasn't something like that.

http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Atlas

Atlas was one of the early heroes of Paragon City. The Atlas Park zone is named for him, and there is an enormous statue erected in front of City Hall in his honor.

Atlas was one of the first heroes to respond to the Nazi sneak attack against Paragon City on December 7th, 1941. Almost single-handedly, Atlas kept the German attackers from gaining a foothold past Independence Port. It cost him his life, but he held his ground until the Freedom Phalanx arrived.

The statue of Atlas was dedicated by Statesman himself in a ceremony christening the heart of Atlas Park. Many heroes were inspired enough by Atlas's sacrifice to volunteer for the Freedom Phalanx's trek across the Atlantic to help reinforce the Dawn Patrol in England. To this day, Atlas Park is the safest area in Paragon City and many new heroes dedicate themselves to making sure it stays that way.

He was a mutant. And was very, very, very large.

He picked apart building rubble with his fingers, clapped out a large fine, and lifted an entire gathering of people onto his shoulders to escape a poison gas cloud. I'd have to say that makes him pretty large.

However, he also had a wife, so I'd have to assume that that relationship would be quite strained if he wasn't able to shrink down in size at least most of the way.

is there something out that that explains all of this? I've always been sort of struck by the lack of information about atlas that was out there.

Just gotta kind of piece it together from the plaques that are out there.

Who was bigger, Atlas or Talos?

I believe Rularuu is the largest mob currently in the game, and with all the issues surrounding him due to the size it is unlikely we will see any more of that scale until the bugs get worked out.

You've heard it here... He was a giant.

And because of his massive size, he won't be making his place in this game anytime soon, which is the same reason Rularuu isn't in the game; too big.

Atlas Plaques (strictly mentioning size)

[ QUOTE ]

On this street in 1939, a parade was held to honor the hero Atlas. Though Atlas' nemesis, the Teal Serpent, tried to interrupt the festivities with a poison gas bomb, Atlas saved the spectators by scooping them up to sit on his mighty shoulders, far above the fumes. After getting the citizens to safety, Atlas sought out the Teal Serpent and defeated him. It is unknown whether the Serpent survived.

[ QUOTE ]
On July 12, 1932, this apartment building caught fire. Although fire fighters evacuated the residents, they were unable to contain the blaze. If not for the mighty hero Atlas, the entire neighborhood might have been lost. He arrived in time to clap out the flames with his massive hands.

[/ QUOTE ]

[ QUOTE ]
The building that used to stand in this spot was destroyed by the archvillain known only as the Teal Serpent. While Statesman battled the Serpent in an epic battle that raged for miles, the monumental Atlas turned his attention to the people trapped inside the rubble. With a gentleness to rival his strength, he picked apart the ruins with his massive fingers, freeing 243 people who would otherwise have perished.

It would be cool to help defend Independence Port from the 5th's attack while making Atlas a roaming ally like the Jade Spider. If they could, restrict his movement to the water and only animate him from the waist up, similar to how tentacles and Lusca are animated. Just put some GM battleships in the harbor and make him move from one to another. You could be responsible for taking out the guns on the ships, mitigating the damage being dealt to him.

Yep, that was me and my 5th anniversary video. And it didn't qualify for the Video Homage contest because a) I released it a day early, b) it's too long, and c) it's demorecorded instead of live action.

It is entirely possible to build a character that large in the game - *I* did it using democode, not any trick in Sony Vegas or somesuch. No reason why THEY can't do it.

So yeah, devs, build an official Atlas and let's see a TF/SF of Atlas vs the 5th Column, circa 1941.

Yep, I saw it - the call has already gone out requesting someone to demorecord it so I'll have the code.

Nice to see that Castle's "thinking big", as it were! *sorry, bad pun* Maybe that's just one more instance of proof that the devs are reconsidering enemy size in the game.

I have to agree with those saying Atlas is NOT that big. Come on think about it semi-realistically if he was so big his foot was taller than a house, as mentioned, every step he took would create shock waves that would devastate a neighborhood. Imagine all of Paragon City looking something like Boomtown OR WORSE.

The term giant is pretty subjective.. David fought Golith in the Christian Bible and Golith was considered a giant but I recall reading some scientific report stating that Golith was about 7 feet tall. Now considering that in those times most men stood no higher that 5 feet 5 inches or so a man roaming around that was that much taller would, of course, be deemed gigantic. Even by today's standards if someone suddenly appeared that was say 15 feet tall wouldn't we all have the tendancy to refer to him as gigantic or as a Giant.

For all we know Atlas may have been able to grow no taller than 15 or 20 feet in height and that alone would have him towering far above all but a few of the GMs we have in game. With strength to match that size he'd easily be able to crush a large group of normal sized villains.

I realize we are playing a fantasy game based on comic books but even in the comics the writers at least tried to make heroes and villains feasible. Where exactly would a, say 100 foot tall man,go to sleep? He did eventaully perish saving the city so he was NOT a god just a very large humanoid.. which means he needed to eat. Can you imagine the bill at McDonalds to fill him up? I'm not sure of the canon on him but he was able to shrink to normal size so I'd say he was a Mutant (?) with the ability to increase his size as needed. For all we know he could even have controlled how big based on the threat. Do I really need to be 30 feet tall to stop those three Hellions from stealing that woman's purse? Naw 8 or 10 feet should be plenty LOL

So why couldn't the Devs create a pint sized version (say Kronos Titan sized) of Atlas and let the villains have fun attacking him?

It's said that he's managed to hold a crowd on his shoulders. I would assume that he had the ability to change his size.

*note* This might not have changed his weight incredibly, so he might not have been so heavy as to take down neighborhoods when he walks a-la shockwave.

I don't really want this entirely for the size, but for the fact that he's the one hero I've always wanted to fight beside.
