MA farmers: Where to put them?
If the farmers got off their butts and formed proper global channels, instead of USING broadcast like that... it'd work just fine If you can convince guys doing nothing but MA farms to move, more power to ya, but I doubt they will.
"But Atlas is where everyone IS!"
... only because you keep clogging it, eh?

Since youre not going to stop farming I agree. Go do it somewhere far away from everyone who actually wants to appreciate the game.
/no. Broadcast, especially in Atlas has always been full of useless junk. Now it is just a different kind of uselessness. Basically I don't think it's a problem.
Just judging by what I've seen on freedom, I'd guess that 80% or more of the AE farming that goes on is done from atlas park. So it seems to me like the majority of farmers ALREADY limit their activities to 1 particular zone. Personally, if the non-farmers have a problem with the farming going on in AP, why don't they go to galaxy, rather than asking the farmers to move?
So firespray your logic is that the legit players should move to a whole other zone and missout on story arcs and missions all because the farmers don't want to move zones? When essentially moving to galaxy would have 0 effect n farmers.
My sugestion, instance the AE and block it from zone Bradcast. For all zones.
A fair question, Firespray.
I think the farmers should leave Atlas because Atlas is the starting zone for most players and some brand new player may get into farming before learning anything about the game. I think most people will agree that you should play at least one character to 50 to learn a bit about the game before dedicating yourself to farming.
Atlas is also one of the "hub" zones that people go to. A lot of people go through Atlas to get somewhere else, whereas Galaxy and most other zones other than Atlas, Talos and Peregrine Island are much less busy. Everyone paying SG Base rent also has to go to Atlas.
There are many reasons why non-farmers have to go to Atlas. Why do farmers have to go there? I can't think of any reasons, but maybe someone else can.

No, thank you. This is a suggestion for a change in both player behavior and MA search tools.

No, my logic is that the majority of farmers have already done what the OP suggested and confined their efforts to a single zone. It's not their fault that you disagree with what zone they ended up in.
Moving to Galaxy City instead of Atlas would simply lead to a different group of players frustrated because the farmers were in "their" zone. It's a classic case of NIMBY syndrome.
The farmers have as much right to be in Atlas as anyone else does. Anyone who doesn't like the fact that the farmers are there should go to another zone and stop trying to foist their problems off on someone else.

It's true. Anyone can be in any zone they want.
But I would think that people would like to congregate together with like minded people and away from those who disagree with or don't like farming.
Atlas is usually a very busy zone. It was before the architect buildings and Wentworths were added. There certain things that require you to go to Atlas, like paying rent and going to RV.
Other than "I'm already here, so you move" I don't see any other reason being presented why the farmers couldn't collectively agree to go to a less populated zone.

There isn't really a reason, other than they won't. Unless forced, it won't happen. I really feel you're banging your head against the wall.

The thing is though, it's not the farmers who are upset that anti-farming people are giving them crap. The farmers obviously don't mind sharing the zone with everyone else. You asked why the farmers couldn't go to a less populated zone. I'll play devil's advocate and ask the opposite. Why SHOULD the farmers leave AP (from their prospective)? They obviously don't have a problem with the status quo, so there's no reason to go elsewhere.
Atlas is a busy zone because there isn't really a whole lot you can't do from there.
Start a supergroup, hit the market, go to the Vanguard Base, use AE, go one zone over to access the Green Line, Yellow Line in zone, two hazard zones bracketing it that lead to a majority of other zones in and of themselves... All in very, very close relative proximity to everything else. It's less than 900 yards from AE to Wentworths, and about that from there to the Base Portal and City Hall (supergroup registrar). The only thing it's missing is a Tailor (nullified with Pocket D port or a properly set up base) and people would probably never leave the zone except for specific missions (capes, auras, costume slots, midnighter access) and taskforces.
Mercy Island has a similar, but reduced problem in that a lot of it's very important things (Trainer, Market, AE) are also all very close to one another. And just one zone over (which is also in the same packed half of the map as everything else) you can get to Pocket D or hit up the Black Helicopter to get around some as well.
I doubt they're going to move from either zone, especially compounded by the fact that both zones are full of trivial (read: beyond ignorable) enemies and are right where newly created characters to PL* are going to dump out into anyway, and it's a bit of a gold mine for them.
Sad, but true.
*DISCLAIMER: Yes, I'm aware not all farmers are PLers, so that comment only applies to those that do both.

I've already given you a reason why farmers should move. You can farm in any AE building and in any zone with high level missions. Certain things like paying rent and going to RV can ONLY be done in Atlas.
I'll give you another one. The AE farm broadcast spam annoys a certain population. Annoyed people tend to complain. Enough people complain and the devs start to listen and nerf things. It is in the farmers' self interest to try to peacefully co-exist in order to keep doing what they enjoy.

sounds to me like the AE farm boradcast annoy's just you. and this is not the correct place for this topic. there is already a farm thread started and that is where this belongs. you didn't post a suggestion, you posted a rant. as for the farm spam, i never see anyone asking for an AE farm. all i see is people asking for an AE team. and as for the snide remark about being in the farmers best interest, i don't see any of them comming to the forums whinning about anything, only the people who don't like that style of play comming to the forums whining. take your own advise about peacefully co-existing.

You dont see what you dont wish to then, Quint. I see both "LF AE team" and "LF AE farm team" in equal numbers. I may not entirely agree with the Flea, but what he says about keeping it on the down-low would behoove the farmers, but then I dont expect much from 'em anywho. A suggestion is a suggestion, and in this forum most of the suggestions are similar to rants because people feel passionate enough about whatever the subject is to post about it.
To the Flea: I understand where you're coming from, but the definition of "farming" in an MMO is "get the most for the least" or "lazy". Dont expect them to move.

The reverse of this statement is just as valid for the same reason. There are other reasons why Galaxy would be a good location for the farmers.
1. The AE already exists in Galaxy. The devs don't have to do any work to add it.
2. Galaxy is less populated by "regular" players, so there will be less tension and friction between the two groups.
3. Galaxy also has Sewer runs, and Origin based first contacts.
4. Galaxy has the Arena and the contact for respecs, so new players can also learn about PvP and makes fixing mistakes in their builds easier.
5. Making new players go to other zones to use Wentworths/pay rent teaches new players how to use the trains and gates. (I'm seeing more and more high level characters that have no clue how to navigate the city.)
6. It would irritate farm snobs that arrogantly tell people that if they don't like farming they should go to another zone. (We've all seen how effective that type of snobbish attitude worked for the PvP population. The jerks drove away many potential players and gave the good PvPers a bad rep.)
7. The influx of heroes to Galaxy would disrupt ongoing criminal activities that are using Galaxy as a festering den of inequity.
Oh, and can the Atlas people kindly keep their junk in Atlas?
Quint, I think you are mistakingly attributing things to me. I mainly ignore broadcast and most chat unless it is directed specifically at me. I also engaging in farming and PLing. Not as much as some, but I'm far from an anti-farmer.
If you doubt me, you can check my post history.
And I did post two suggestions with reasons. One for the community and one for the devs. If you disagree with my reasoning then please explain why my idea is a bad one or where my logic is flawed. But those are suggestions and therefore are appropriate for this section of the forum.
Finally, if you think these posts are a rant, I think you haven't seen a really good one. Those are the ones where people type in all caps and make emotional statements without facts or logic.

Now, now . . . I know my title may have been a little provocactive, but keep that comment about where to put farmers to yourself please. You know what I mean.
I have read and participated in many of the different threads where farmers and story-driven players argue over the how each side is ruining the fun of the other.
One of the more valid complaints that story-driven players have, in my opinion, is that farmers clog up broadcast and the architect UI.
Would it be possible for Farmers to agree to to go to a certain zone for farming? I would suggest Galaxy over Atlas because Atlas has so many other things going on, but really any zone other than Atlas and Mercy would be an improvement.
Similarly, if the devs would allow it, create a farm "tab" in the architect. I know Positron said it would probably be best not to call your MA Arc a farm or it might be banned. But I think that he was having the same problem that many of the story-driven players were -- that farms were drowning out stories. If self-identified farms had their own tab or filtering mechanism, story-driven folks could easily avoid them and farm driven folks could easily find them. As could GMs to make sure that the farms are not engaging in exploits.
You could even encourage self-identifying as farms by giving stiffer penalties for exploitive farms that don't self-identify themself as such.
