Your Favorite Veteran Rewards?
I love the Samurai armour- my characters have found so many ways to mix and match it, it's not even funny.
Trenchcoats too- but these days, they're competing with the valkyrie and magic pack capes and robes.
I also love my two free attacks- nemesis staff or blackwand, and sands of mu or ghost slaying axe.

My favorite Veteran Reward hasn't been awarded yet: the Rune of Warding!
That being said:
1. Nemesis Staff / Blackwand
2. Sands of Mu / Ghost Slaying Axe
3. Buff pets
I also use various costume pieces here and there, but every one of my characters use the things listed above.

But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

1.) My Rikti Monkey pet, even if he's all big and disproportioned. I just RP my villain as feeding him better than the Invasion Force usually would.
2.) The Arachnos Flier in my base. As soon as I built it a launchpad, it officially felt like my little group was being recognized for all its contributions to Lord Recluse and his empire.
3.) Free tailor tokens. I've honestly used them all on my main, plus all the free ones recent issues have handed out, plus all the coupons from parking her at the Facemaker more often than not. Once I finally hit that permanent tailor discount, I'll be very very happy.
4.) The Samurai Armor. I rarely actually use it, but at least half my characters have an unfinished idea for it that I just need to fiddle with a little more before it'd be perfect...
5.) Boxing costumes. Because that's the next one I'll get, so I'm more excited for it than many that I already have.

No need to make that a vet reward. If you get the Archeologist accolade from getting the Midnighter and Mortician day jobs, you get the Rune of Purification. It seems identical to the Rune of Warding, including the graphical effect.

My favorite veteran rewards are;
Being able to take a travel power at Lv. 6 without a prerequisite. Though for me it's the "without a prerequisite" part that's more useful. In the early levels, I'm usually more concerned about getting my character's basic powers in place to use one of the earlier power choices for it, like Assassin Strike for my Stalker. What's more important to me is that it frees up a power choice, which can be a great asset on some tighter builds so that I can take something more useful instead. I can always take the prerequisite later at a level where I don't have a newly unlocked one from my primary or secondary that screams "Take me now!", if I so desire.
The Buff Pets. Having my first character be a Broadsword/Dark Armor Scrapper has taught me the value of endurance, and I seek out recovery and max endurance buffs when choosing what IO sets to use on that character. Having the Blue Wisp Pet helps that out even more.
Assemble the Team. This one's a great timesaver, since it get's everybody where they need to be at once, which gets my scrappery self into the fray that much faster. It can be a pain having to wait until everybody's done their between-mission errands like training after a level-up or going AFK for a bio-break, and it's just as easy to Recall Friend the teammates one by one, but I don't take Recall Friend on all my characters, just the ones whose concept allows for it. For the ones that don't, I have Assemble the Team.

So... what are your favorites?

The people I've met and still see active in my global friends list.
Being able to talk with Castle about anything, from game mechanics to the various meanings of duck sounds. *quack*
The perspective gained from almost four years of subscribed time, which allows me to look back at the way things were and see how they've changed, for the better or worse, and appreciate those differences.
Understanding what goes on "under the hood" in this game and having the experience to know how to use that to my advantage.
Knowing that even after almost four years, what I've learned about the game and how to play it leads me to discovering new ways to enjoy it and maintain my interest.
1: Wings
so cool.
2: Sands of Mu
singlehandedly make the low levels almost worth playing through.
3: base teleporter
so handy.
4: pet
they're so friendly and they keep me company when I solo.
5: assorted costume bits and pieces not including wings.
I use some of them quite a bit.

Ah... Sadly I am not, at this point, quite veteran enough to come out with a good list, having only been around for 21 months.
However, as I really wanted to participate in this discussion I used my phone to call my future self. These are HIS (and thus my) favorites:
1) 696 Month Reward: Blue Steel Temp Power.. Complete immunity to attack... Enemies don't die but DO start a small cult/religion to worship you... Only lasts 10 seconds... Recharge time is however long it takes you to get a new graphics card & processor since both are melted into slag from pure awesomeness.
2) 213 Month Reward: Custom Death Emote - You can now select an emote specific to your character for dying.. no more boring fall to your knees and face plant.. at first I chose the William Shatner but that took 15 minutes to run through... now I use the John Wayne... which is awesome on my male characters and hilarious on the female ones.
3) 333 Month Reward: New Travel Power - Wheels! Blister the streets going from mission to mission in a variety of options.. I started out with the '79 Corvette but lately I've been going for the Mad Max Semi.. You haven't experienced street sweeping until you try out that baby..
4) 120 Month Reward: Your Own Nemesis Plot - This one at first had me angry... My dog ran away.. My checking account was completely cleaned out.. My house burned down... All my friends turned against me.. Then this huge golden robot appeared at the entrance to my cardboard box wearing a "Hello, my name is Nemesis" sticker.. He started to do battle with me then took off his helmet to reveal it was BaBs. Hilarity ensued as they congratulated me on my veteran reward. Good times... good times...
5) 117 Month Reward: This wasn't a reward per se... but it IS where they start slipping the "Shall not be held liable for damages/penalties incurred due to veteran rewards" clause in the user agreement.
6) 453 Month Reward: Voice of the People- Downloadable system that allows you to say a few key words into your mic and give your characters the chance to speak during battles and cut scenes.. Of course, now all my characters sound like either me or my Lady Love.. one of them sounds like my cat Gizmo.. and all the female ones sound bored and barely tolerant.. but hey, at least they talk!
7) 192 Month Reward: Costume Piece... or rather no costume piece.. they verify your age and give you the ability to finally have an all-nude character.. The reason I didn't rank this one higher is because I discovered the nude character only appears on YOUR computer... On everyone else's monitor you appear in ratty jeans wearing a tee-shirt that reads "My User is a Pervert"...
8) 900 Month Reward: VIP Server- Yep, they created a server that is ONLY accessible for the real veterans of the game.. A few more wander in every month... You'd think the PUGs would have improved more than they have..
9) 462 Month Reward: Mini Me pet - You can now have a miniature member of the Freedom Phalanx, Recluse's crew, or any other signature hero or villain following you around. They have all the powers of the original but at greatly reduced effect. Only two are not available: Nemesis because of the bug where it kept giving you missions to promote the real Nemesis to world domination. And Blue Steel because even scaled down to 1% actual power it was allowing first level characters to take on the Statesman Task Force without dying.
10) 153 Month Reward: Base Decoration Items- Pie, Cake, Cookie, Big Red Ball and Pony.
There were more but I had to cut the call short.. You wouldn't believe what the toll charges are for cross-temporal roaming.
My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw
Sands of Mu and the Staff/Wand are the only decent attacks my Masterminds can get so I love them the most.
Sands
Blackwand/Nemesis Staff
Base TP
Non-com pet
1) The vet reward where the "mandatory" missions to talk to the Field Analysts, Sam Wincott, Jim Temblor, Gordon Bower, and the PvP zone contacts are optional instead.
Okay, that one isn't a vet reward... but I really wish it were. I get so irritated having to run a bunch of 'errands' when I get a contact in a new level range before they give me a real mission. I know those folks are there at this point and what they do and can talk to them if I want to do their arcs. Please just let me get on with the contact I'm talking to. It gives me the impression they really don't want my help
Okay that aside
1) Sands of Mu/Axe and the Blackwand/Nemesis Staff (though I wish the axe had a bonus to hit against the things it works best against, as most of them have ToHit debuffs as well )
2) Base Teleporter/ Assemble the Team
3) Respecs!!!!! (they'd be higher on the list but I'm very sparing with them. However I'm ecstatic to have them when I do need them)
4) The Pets
5) I almost have the travel power at 6, but not yet, so I'm sure I'll love it, but since I don't yet...
I would list costume pieces near the top but I'm not crazy about the idea of having to wait for a vet reward to occur before I can use them in a costume if I need them to fit a concept. So while I love the trenchcoats, wing, samurai armor, and the very nice chest details for various group affiliations (wish there were more) etc. that is muted by the fact that they're vet rewards in the first place.
EDIT: The prestige Sprints and Arachnos helmets kind of fit in that 'costume' category, but I can understand having to wait for those, and really like them a lot too.
"I play characters. I have to have a very strong visual appearance, backstory, name, etc. to get involved with a character, otherwise I simply won't play it very long. I'm not an RPer by any stretch of the imagination, but character concept is very important for me."- Back Alley Brawler
I couldn't agree more.
