Give Hamidon a badge.

Right now, Hamidon is usually ignored on most servers. He just doesn't see very much action at all. He sits there, waiting for some group to summon him and give him a challenge, but alas, nobody shows. That's not to say that he is completely ignored, it's just that some servers don't do Hami-raids period (Namely, Freedom.)

I suggest there be a badge reward for defeating him. Doesn't the biggest baddie in the game deserve a special badge? I think a cool badge, heck maybe even an accolade would go towards sparking a new interest in Hami-raids. The merit reward is pathetic and Hami-O's aren't what they used to be, what with all these super-cool recipes flying around.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I guess "Heart of the Hamidon" doesn't count, since you technically don't need to fight him to get it.

On the bright side, Hamidon is currently giving more merits on test than on live (52 compared to 40, or so I've heard), so maybe your server might see an increase in raids.

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

I just want something to make people do hami-raids more. I've only done one in my entire time here, and it was so amazingly fun! All the strategy, techniques. It was challenging but exceptionally great, and the group I was with did everything very well.

Maybe a cool accolade or something that gives you an amazing power, with a very long recharge of course.
Call it something like "Pro-earth" or another environment related name.

How would this badge be rewarded? By the people that did the damage? Then what happens to Healers/Main controllers? By the teams that defeated him? Then what happens to a leaching team member? By the whole map? Then what about just plain leachers?

Don't worry about them, some people are just losers.

To the whole map? What about the guy who accidentally zoned the moment Hami was being taken down?

Oh, I thought the post was going to be about giving Hami a kill badge for all those heroes and villains he's taken down.

I mean, he'd have ALL the damage done badges, and probably all the debt badges seeing how he respawns and stuff...

I just wonder where you'd pin it.

For the OP - I've got to agree with the response that points out you'd see a one-time spike as badgers ran in to get it, then it'd die down again. The Hamidon already has rewards in HOs - but you can get those *exact same* rewards (just renamed) by running a STF or LRSF, with far fewer people.

It's like having two stores selling ice cream. One, you can drive to in ten minutes. The other one, you have to drive twenty miles, then wait for the ferry that takes you a mile out to the island, deal with the crowd, someone else's schedule, etc. for the *exact same* ice cream. Which one would you rather do?

Victory, which typically hovers between the "average" and "ghost town" servers in population, has a scheduled Hami raid every second week, on the weeks between the Night Shift's bi-monthly Rikti Raids. Occasionally, maybe once every 1-3 months, a random person shows up and says "Let's raid Hami!" And people join. That's a minimum of two raids a week, sometimes more, by the inhabitants of one Global Channel on one low to mid population server. It's likely that some of the larger SGs and Coalition run their own raids too.

If you can't find a Hami raid on Freedom, I suspect you're looking in the wrong place.

That said, I fully support the idea of getting a badge for defeating Hami. I wouldn't expect more than a minor spike of interest as a result.

And an accolade for one raid? No. You need to plant 25 bombs (13 raids, if you can get 2 plants per raid) and defeat the GM 10 times (never more than once per raid) to get the Rikti Raid badges. And you still don't get an accolade, or even a badge that counts towards one.

Hamidon Raids are 4 days a week on Virtue (2 villain, 2 hero).

Same thing that has happened to thousands of players that have dc'ed during the final fight of a TF. They're just SOL. That solution is most likely appropriate for another thread, though.

EDIT: Looking back I realize you probably mean some player that happens to zone in during the final blows to Hamidon. Every, and I mean EVERY raid I've ever been on (20+ now) the zone has been completely full, with spillover into Hive 2.

Hamidon's merit rewards are being upped to 52 in I15 (as of beta of course, that could theoretically change before live but probably won't). It's not a huge increase, but that ought to generate at least some interest.

Frankly, I'm surprised that you say Freedom doesn't do Hami raids, given the relative size of its population. Before I14 and everything that came with it, Pinnacle was running Hami raids at least once a week. 40 merits = two TF pool random rolls, for something that takes anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour and a half to run. Not a bad deal.

*checks Freedom forums*

No, Freedom doesn't do daily Hami-raids like other servers.

Occasionally someone decides to be brave and try and start one on the forums, but that doesn't happen very often. It looks like someone is trying to get one started for this weekend, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

I'd love to see more hami raids. Wish they would just make it a cross server zone so more people could do it. I've been on about 4 raids so far and only 1 successful and that was along time ago.

Technically, the every other week raids still haven't taken off. The last two flat out fizzled, with only 18 showing up at most. Someone else is trying one on the 12th, I think, hopefully someone better at getting people to show than I am will help drive up interest again. That and the extra 12 merits on test.

So, getting raids going isn't the easiest thing in the world. A badge for the job would at least spike temporary interest and may expose new people to the existence of the raid. Though I'd guess that the extra merits and something to deal with the issues of the 50 person zone cap would help more in the long run.

Cross server is going to be problematic. Until recently, Justice was running 2-4 scheduled blue side Hami raids a week. The Hive was full 30 minutes before scheduled time.
