Reeeeeeeeally? Sweet.

Hmm, I recall a thread a while back where a guy had written a program that could compress your arcs by removing some of the extraneous custom critter information. Maybe the devs decided to do it for us?

Was this the Portal Bandits arc? Having played that one I'm guessing most of the file size was taken up by the custom critters, so a reduction that huge....

I only wish I didn't keep crashing the MA when I try to copy my arcs over...

Seeing as come I15 I won't need to keep arcs up for ratings or badges. I will probably just unpublish and restart new ones from scratch.

Yeah, I'll be tweaking, but not starting from scratch or anything. Especially on my Comics 101 arc, where the robots in the second mission were just brutal.

Comic 101?

It is Portal Bandits. The 11 customs alone eat up close to 80% of the space on live, so seeing this huge reduction makes me very happy. I can add a ton more details now to the missions as well as put in a few critters that got cut earlier due to space limitations. That and the new custom settings means I'm not as done with balancing as I had thought.

Also, you can now set a boss to be "unique" by going into the Custom Group editor and flagging them as "Don't Auto Spawn", which will make it so that they can only appear as a special detail. This applies to all custom critters, so I can see a way to make certain mobs special like in how Malta Sappers can only spawn once per group.

Whooo, finally managed to copy stuff without crashing. Yay for huge reduction, the Mega Mech has 9 custom critters and was almost at the file limit, on test it's at around 77%. I'll probably be adding in a few more customs.

And using the "custom" power selections doesn't seem to be affecting how much space the critter takes up, thankfully. Yay for no more Total Focus at 32!

One really awesome thing, they did something to make the storage of arcs more efficient. I saw that an arc that is at 99.6% on live, when copied over to test, was only 75%! I ran through it and didn't find anything missing.

That is awesome beyond words.

Sweet! Thank you for confirming this!

I figured the devs could come up with a way to do some compression. 20% improvement is awesome!

Of course it may only apply to arcs that heavily use custom critters, but anything that makes customization easier is good news to me.

Oh ... as for the OP ... if I can think of anything to tweak based on any MA patch I go in and make my tweaks. However, at the moment I can't see how either of my arcs will be improved by this patch, except that there may be more room for customization when i15 goes live.

I'll also need to click a few arc description buttons, but I guess that applies to everyone.

Woo Hoo! It looks like I'll be able to put the third minion and second lieutenant back into the Fashionistas and Kary May Commandos. I had to pull them when I added allies to the third and final mission.

Have they fixed the damage scaling with Ninjutsu yet? I'd love for the Fashioninjas to be able to Hide again without them two shotting anyone who comes near. I had to replace Ninjutsu with Super Reflexes because they were too deadly.

New story arcs coming soon (ARC IDs will be aded when I finish the arc):
So, you want to join the Hellions? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
Sparks & Steel (level 5-20 Heroic arc)
and
So you want to join the Skulls? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)

I won't be redoing any of my arcs as the content improves. I will be fixing them to make sure that they work.
I already have 3 posted and I'm working on more. Since there is a limit of 3, I will be rotating what arcs I have completed in those 3 slots.
So I'm not going to go back and refine when I can make new ones. I worked to make the content fit into the confines of the system.
I'll do the same thing with the new missions I make.

I'm interested in making cool arcs and not worrying about limiting myself to 3. I've already capped that limit.
I have over 5 new arcs in the works now.

Yes, it seems to only apply to custom critters. My arc that had nine custom critters and a custom contact dropped about 20%. The one that had seven customs and a ton of text only dropped by about 10%.

On the downside, my custom group comprised of two custom minions and crey "random minion," "random lieutenant" and "random boss" broke. I had to select all the standard minions, lieutenants and bosses individually, increasing how much space they took up.

Who knows, but my critters weren't missing anything and they had a lot of unlocked items. Some of them do have wings, which would have been pretty obvious if they had been missing.

I also created two new critters for the group in that arc and the file used only went up by 6KB when before it'd be at least 12KB. Interesting.

Looks like I'm going to be making a LOT more Freedom Militia minions for my Fighting Freedom arc. Sweet.

Yank and rebuild for sure. I like making the missions more than I care about people playing them, so I roll my arcs over fairly quickly.

I'll stand pat with what I have, unless I find any changes that have accidentally been made for me. ("If it ain't broke, don't fix it!")

Tweaking one or two of them. I also plan to do a new one though I am tossed up on if it should be a sequel or a totally new everything.

I asked about this in the Player's questions forum and was told they had. I haven't had a chance to test it for myself yet though. I was going to pick a random tiny map and drop in some /Nin of foes and see what happens when I walk in.

David and Goliath: Will be severely tweaked to allow more tolerable enemies. One AV will lose Energy Transfer, one will gain Strength of Will, all units will lose Rage/BU and Cobra Strike.

The Dark Past: Previously unreleased. Story of a necromancer. The new ability to rename, rebio, and recolor enemies will go a long way toward making this one a possibility. That, and the custom options so I can get rid of Detention Field for my FF ally.

The Night Owl: Previously unreleased. With the new reduction in filesize, I may be able to fit the extra units I needed in. Custom will go a long way toward making the units how I wanted as well.

Are planning to redo their arcs entirely with the new tools in issue 15 and how many are pretty much happy with their arcs as they are and are just looking forward to having more details to play with and finer controls over the powers of their custom critters?

I'm firmly in the later camp, how 'bout you?

[/ QUOTE ]

Same. My 2nd arc was an exercise of frustrated compromise to get it to fit under the 100% file size limit, while still telling a good story. The net result was chaotic as I tried to jam too many square pegs into round holes. However, I loaded the same arc into the I15 editor, and with the additional flexibility of toon selection and placement, I'm able to remove custom groups that I'd whipped up entirely to replace problem default critters, and saved myself 17% right off the bat.

I'm pleased by the changes, and will revamp one Act definitely; maybe revisit 1 again as well for a "Director's Cut" edit, if I can get them to unDC it long enough for me to upload tweaks...

It's my theory that they've been holding off on granting new DCs until after issue 15 goes live because of these improvements.

Well I did run a mission with Ninjitsu foes after the fix, with a blaster, and I didn't die horribly, so it seems ok. It's still nasty when combined with the high-damage ranged attacks in melee sets, since their AI tells them to use the ranged attack first, so they get the damage bonus on it.

Finally on Test02 to check this stuff out.

I like a lot of the features but checking the layout of multi-floor maps in the editor seems buggy and the ability to select powers seems underwhelming due to choice restrictions. With that said, sadly the restrictions are needed since someone will come along and abuse things if they aren't in.

Plus, I'm assuming everyone testing must be high level since the entire zone (Atlas) is empty...

I've got a revamp of MAGI Vaults planned, which will wait until I15, otherwise will just be tweaking a couple of custom critters.

#2409 - The Mystery of the MAGI vaults. Azuria has contacted you to help her stop the thefts from the MAGI vaults.
#68054 - Out of the gutters. Left for dead, you swore that you were through with being a victim (alt villain beginning story)

That's good to know, plus I hadn't even thought about the ranged attack side of it - thanks for the info.

I have minor tweaks I may do, but for the most part I'm happy with my missions. I won't start a third arc until Issue 15 is live though. The testing tools sound too handy.
