building lab
Sounds awesome, Stacker. I've done this with a few friends' SG builders before when they asked "how did you..." right after i13 went live. Talk to EnnVee about getting it mentioned in the City Scoop. Mebbe you can get some established SGs with lots of prestige to play with to host your workshop(s).
I'll even offer to let folks to play around in my heroes' SG base on Infinity if you need volunteers. I have space to add a few add'l rooms to play around in.
Sounds great. I would try and show up at one. I have no problem making a functional base, but all the cool things I have seen, I havent been able to do for some reason. Stuff ends up uneven and all that jizjaz.

Thats the idea, to show a pic on how to stack with a safe and floor tile is different that showing them in person. to know that if you rotate the tile you can move it around better. to show what the best camera angles to use. i was thinking of doing some kind of voice chat for it as well to make it easy.
All in all it would be a way to show people the best practices on building, like making stairs or stacking from the ceiling. showing the best way to judge hight or showing how to hang wall items not on the walls or angle them. The other thing is to lay out a big project before building, making sure things fit so nothing over laps and you have that blinking item witch gets old.
What kind of other things would people like to see?
Sounds like a great idea.
I've had a couple people watch me building once or twice, it's SOOO much easier to show them how to do something, rather than trying to explain it.
I'm sure even seasoned builders could pick up a thing or two from watching each other.
I will be there, I also have a small Vent account that we can use for voice chat so we won't lag too bad. I am very interested in learning how to stack down from the cealing, I can go up but not down this should be interesting.
Got a few friends who are interested in seeing this.
I'd definitely love to join this.
I normally use skype (because it's free and there's less than five of us) but I'm pretty sure I have Vent on my computer somewhere.
Really good idea. Thanks for taking the time to offer your knowledge to others.

I agree all the way around.
I usually pop into my friends base and help him with something or show him how I did something in my base. Great idea lets us know when you got something planned id be in.

I like it stacker, excellent idea! I've had quite a few people watch me build things over the past couple years & get asked a ton of questions as to how I've built certain things. If you need a guest "instructor" for classes I'd be willing to help out anytime I can.
Hey Stacker this is a great idea! I have seen your stuff on the i13 coolest rooms threads and your work is hawt! I would like to join and learn from the Jedi Master of Base Editing himself. Count me in

Just a fair warning to all of you-
I've been in stacker's base several times (we are in coaltion) and he has shown me what he has been working on. Nice guy - very creative - master of stacking. He has.... a severe gas problem. He toots away right in front of you and will not even acknowledge it or apologize.
I recommend you all take a gas mask or similar means of protecting yourself.

Holy *^#$&*!!! You can stack down from the ceiling!?!?! I was just getting the hang of stacking with safes and floor tiles...this could end badly...regular team mates already tired of me constantly building the last few weeks...toons feeling neglected...wife REALLY tired of me crawling to bed at 3 am...please...please no more

Ok im glad to see that this something that people would be intrested in. I just got back from vacation so i havent settled back into my day to day. i will work on setting up the first class here in the comming week then i will post a date and time i might possably will do two of the same classes the same day at different times that way people from both coasts can join. i might have to have a guest limet per class just so people have enough time to get in the editor, but when i have the details i will share. Dont worry about the gas problem i only do that around Cap A when he is staring at my base with his mouth open

count me in I would love to see/show/tell
but not smell
Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.
I have a few of the basics down as far as stacking but would LOVE to attend something like this. Now watch with my luck you are NOT on Virtue LOL.
One Good idea around that issue .. People sign up and create an ALT on whichever server this is hosted on. Okay so they'd be a 1 level BIG deal. LOL It would be for the purpose of attending the class and nothing sayd they can't delete when the class is done.
Only other way would be to TRY and do it on Test and that would require someone with a base there to offer it up.
Looking forward to more on this because I enjoy base design and would love more info on techniques along with a little hads on with a coach near by

I also have a sg on the test server that we can use. i was thinking of hosting it there so if you are not on the test server yet take some time this week and download it and get your self set up. the class size at one time i will limet to 8 people. we will also have a vent server for our use donated by Sidhe_Blade. i will post more info to come as i get it. For the first class hosted by myself it will be the basics of stacking, and we will be making stairs.

This is exactly what you do. If you have the ability to do so, I recommend you make a Peacebringer. Flight at level 1 is much better than using sprint.

Im there! hmmm But please.... have manners. I dont wanna wear a gaskmask on my cute lil face
I have been tossing this idea around for a bit and I am looking for some feed back. If I were to host a build lab where I can show people the basics to the extremes of what this base editor is capable of. I get a lot of questions about how I make the things I do, and I always seem to have one to two people watch when I build. I have a base that is small that I use for storage but will work for this idea. Anyone that comes to a class will be granted edit abilities to make this hands on. Maybe set up a couple bases for this so multiple people can edit. There could be guest builders that can come and show and teach there ideas. What would you like to see, would this be something that people would want to come to and learn? Any feed back would be awesome in helping me figure out a way to make this happen.
Thanks to all and happy building
