Guess it's all what people prefer. Some don't care much for graphics if the gameplay is fun. Frankly it's the push to console that I really dislike about that game.
Looks awesome to me! Champion's graphcis seem perfectly designed for handling the primary colours and clean lines of iron-man-style super-armour. Its actually the more everyday sort of customes (such as yours truly tends to prefer) that Im worried about. The woman in the the Sorcery trailer looked so badly purportioned it was like a child's drawing.
All in all, though, it is a reasonably good-looking game. It is NOT photorealistic as CoH is, and its not meant to be.

New isnt bad. The thing that irked me was Conline trying to steal people from COx and the developerwho shall remain nameless (initials J.E.) talking [censored] about COx. I might not be happy with the devs here but Cox is a decent game and doesnt deserve [censored] talk....

True I don't comment on graphics but more so critique gameplay. Games like Okami and Windwaker are perfect examples of games not on the level of Crysis yet still fun and enjoyable to play. That's typically why I do not get into arguments about it. So far the customization looks as though loads less constricting than CoX is now.
But again when it comes down to gameplay, I dislike how the 360 was in mind. I favor the 360 over the PS3 but I still think a console is too limiting and that's what looks to be the real road bump. Then again maybe I'm just content with CoX's animation, recharge, activation, etc times.

That's the thing though! DCUO, according to a XPLAY review on it, seems to be aiming for a more traditional style action RPG. Directional keys playing an important role. If I were to do a real time MMO, that's exactly what I would envision. For the most part DCUO seems even more limited (as in the video the character was pretty much stuck with a staff) but the directional keys making events varied can make all the difference.

I agree, Stryph, the console focus makes me nervous, but I want to actually try the interface first hand before I write it off given how much else the game has going for it. DCUO also looks awesome, but there isn't really enough of it out yet to judge.

Yes, it is important that the NPCs look cool.
If that was Grundy in some of those screenies, it seemed that there was something off or warped, about his body shape, even for him.

But I will wait for the inevitable free trial 
I don't really care how it looks or not (and I believe there's an option to turn the cell shading off, if you so desire), but what bothered me about Champions Online is that the gameplay required a certain twitch, which I am not that good with.
If they're at Gencon this year, I'll swing by and see if they got it polished up, but despite being a huge Champions and Hero System fan (tabletop and MUSH), I find myself getting more disappointed in the MMO as time goes on.

I'm eagerly waiting for the NDA to drop on the closed beta. I've been keeping tabs on several CO threads on other boards, and the resulting explosion of flames/gushing will be very amusing to watch.
From what I've gathered, the 'Framework' setup for powers is actually pretty flexible, the character models are nicely detailed, and the system requirements are high enough that it'll chug on my computer at best. : /

As for the topic, how fun the game is is the most important thing but how pretty it looks can make up for some faults. From what I've seen of both CO and DCU neither look pretty nor fun to me, but that's just my opinion.
