Easy answer, Pre-1-13, bring my Thermal into SC where there good action on both sides. Get on a team and I become the # 1 target on the hero side because of my useful buffs and heals. Now the real action begins w/ 2-3 blasters, a spines scrappers, and possibly more on my butt while i'm evading jumping from rooftop to rooftop in the vacinity of my team, keeping them alive and myself alive( and i did a good job of it through simple evasion, isp management/use and my heal). Very exciting, fast paced and intense.

Now, well, my ice/thermal is deleted. I can imagine though what it would of been likein 1-13, get on a team, buff for a whopping 4% increase in dmg res, my heals are garbage and start to fizzle out. I start getting attacked, I suppress to a snails pace, my self heal starts to fizzle out, and in 10 sec I either die or phase. Tons of fun. Where's the exitement in that, very anti-climactic IMO.

I keep trying to enjoy this new ver. of pvp, but after 15 min, i'm just bored out of my skull. I have quite a few toons to pvp on either side for different zones too, it's simply just not fun anymore.

This new ver just defies logic, why in the world in a team game would you try and even everyone out and make team support roles useless? Why would pool attacks be on par w/ T9 attakcs? IMO, in the old pvp, there were logical counters to about everything, it wasn't perfect, but it was fun. Other team got resistance, bring -res, other team spiking, you heal, other team mez spiking, you thaw/clarity/clear mind spike that target, getting slowed, bring a kin, fast paced travel powers bothering you, get or make a TA, the other teams heals giving you trouble, use poison. It was for the most part, all there.

And I love the common "big lie" of my toon is useless for zone pvp. Most know you could make most builds work. You just had to learn some basic things, like proper movement, insp management and use, and knowing, accepting and performing your role. Some people got this, and were very successful at making builds most nubs wouldn't dare entering a zone w/ like TA def for example. The ones who knew their roll frustrated the crap out of the vills and I'm sure assisted in many, many kills even if they didn't directly do it themselves. That's just one example and their are many more.

I never got this either, alot of pve'rs have no problem building a toon for farming something, TF's, soloing, soling AVs, etc, etc. but god forbid we make a toon for pvp, unheard of. Now where stuck w/ this ver. Where we try and make everyone equal right out of the box, whacky game mechanics and such to where no one has to , gasp, actually work at competing at a competative part of the game.

Wow, end rant, I never post and had it building up for a while as I wonder why I still try and pvp in this game anymore.

Sup Gibson, you probably don't remember me, but we've battled and teamed on the Vill ladder together. I used to play doms for GMW.

This was well said my friend. I was LOLing @ the thermal paragraph because I was playing my therm the other day & went through the same thing. It's the reason why I had to post because skill was ripped away along with the fun.

How about removing everything that people can gain from in a pvp zone & watch your complaints go down to zero.

And big deal...a red person on my post. Bring back CuppaJo, someone who actually looked up things & gave real responses to any question you ever had for her.

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.

If I'm crying at all, it's because they attempted to fix it - note I didn't say actually fix it. Quite the opposite.

Look through my post history around here. I've actually outlined exactly why I think some of the changes fail, where some of them have succeeded, and further changes I'd make. I don't whine - I call things how they are.

I would like it too, if they actually applied it across the board to everything, instead of just shafting support toons.

My pain domination corruptor's aoe heal starts at around 200 and after maybe 5 heals ends up around 20 points a heal. So let's just apply that to everything. After 5 attacks your scrapper is doing twenty points of damage. Your tanker's shields start resisting 20 points of damage. That would be awesome, then everyone could experience DR for the steaming pile of crap it is regardless of what AT they were playing.

Isnt that what I said? But whether or not it was fixed was the subjective part that I wasnt getting into. The crying was not.

I just don't get why any type of heal/buff is being punished?

If I made a video of my dark/thermal this is what you'd see:

1. enter zone with LFT.
2. throw a few buffs out before the battle
3. enter the battle but I have to stay away from the action to avoid detection. Someone's health drops, I roll in and heal.
4. Oh boy, what's with the lag?? That's not lag, you're being punished for using a power.
5. Oh boy, I've been targeted.
6. RUN & JUMP AWAY!! GRRR...I can't, someone threw a web & stole my travel powers!!!
7. PHASE PHASE PHASE!!!!
8. Saved!!

9. Repeat 2-6.
10. HIBERNATE HIBERNATE!!
11. Oh I can't, being punished for using phase shift now.
12. Ok, use self heal. Good heal, need a 2nd one, oh boy, need a 3rd heal <why am I healing less?>, I GOT IT...POP A GREEN!! Nope, even less heal now!
13. DEAD
14. Repeat & be happy with these changes.

So what was broken before?? Besides people exploiting bugs in the game the only thing that I can think of is a stun. Stuns were the only thing IMO that needed looking @, not travel!

The two things that travel suppression creates is more kills for the melee toons & quicker deaths for support toons.

I don't pay mechanics to put parts in my car willy-nilly and still not have it work. They took out my entire engine block because the spark plugs were dying, replaced it with a smaller engine designed for a different model car, tried to put the old spark plugs back on the new engine, and now wonder why the car won't start.

Where are all the people that say they like the new PvP? I've seen very, very few of them on the forums and almost as few in-game (for a rough idea, go check out the initial I13 threads in which positive and negative feedback was collected - the negative thread is significantly larger than any positive thread I've seen since). Surely if there were as many of them as you claim, they'd be speaking up. Problem with the PvP changes was that they were not geared around people that used the system on a day-to-day basis, but rather that they were geared toward people who didn't PvP in the first place, none of whom were even guaranteed to set foot into a zone even after the rules were changed. Alienating a large portion of your existing customer base in the non-guaranteed hope that you'll draw in other customers from other areas is not generally a good business strategy.

I really believe that when the developers were formulating these changes, they told themselves, "These changes probably won't end up bringing in more people, so we will need to create incentives to PvP." That's where inf/prestige/inspiration/salvage rewards (in I13) and recipes (in I14) come into play. The I13 rewards are essentially small change in the grand scheme of things and likely didn't draw in many players on their own. The PvP IOs likely drew in more people, but from what I saw those people came into zones for a week or two after I14 launch, maybe got a drop, and maybe died a lot, and then went back to PvE.

Really, I'm curious what might have happened to PvP if the "What changes do we need?" wishlist was at least partially implemented in the ways outlined in that list, Taunt was given -range, rewards were added, and the rest of the system stayed more or less the same.

I agree that something needs to be done abt support toons. They cant afford to be gimped. I think that DR and travel suppression should maybe be removed from any type of ally buff.

How abt that?

No, you are (and have been) paying the dealership for the car, even tho the car NEVER started ever. The mechanic is working for free. He fixed the radiator and added a new stereo, prob is the engine tho.

I think I would be fine with travel suppression if they removed all of the other stuff like: decaying heals, suppression buffs/heals & the hibernate/phase shift.

Since we are all throwing around opinions:

Remove:
Heal Decay
DR from Buffs (External and Inspirations)
Unbuffable travel supression
-slow and -range caps

Change:
Mez resistance back to protection
Holds back to PvE standards
Unresisted debuffs back

Keep:
Damage changes
Changes to fly (allowing it to have protection from -fly)
APP/PP balancing
Toggles not dropping

Add:
Unresisted supression if hit by a melee attack
Some kind of Critcal hold for controllers/dominators that overrides all protection.

i would suggest to remove inheret res so buffs actually matter..
i like no TS on arena but it is just me...
i would actually nerf this -range nu,bers 2-3 stacked taunt kills range totally idk if it really works as intended...

since toggles don't drop i don't see how protection gonna be of any help ..it was actually usefull because toggle drop problem existed and being perma held was kind of retarded...
unresistaed debuffs yes plz, most ATs have tons of resistance already so i would need 5 times as many debuffs now to match it to old pvp debuff sigh

i am not happy with dmg changed totally tbh. shouts hit like truck ..forts or ice blast corrs hit for like 60 dmg...KoB hits for 500...um....yeah....should i start about flurry being better than primary (2ndary in some cases) sets?

i think hover had - fly protection in i12...
yes, i like epic pools changes..
toggles not dropping..i like this but with resisted debuffs it kind of makes everything troublesome.
