Hey Gibson, long time no see. Sounds like you haven't been around these forums much lately.
All this has been said hundreds of times, and all of it has been ignored. I13-I14 is a huge success, according to the devs, and there is ZERO reason if it being changed back. None whatsoever. To do so, they would have to admit to one of the biggest mistakes in game design history, and they're simply not going to do that, ever. Instead, they will use their completely made up "data" to show that the new PvP is a total success and the whole community loves it. At least that's what they've been doing.

EDIT, to elaborate, because I feel like being nice.
1. Hibernate's a death sentence in zones, on its own. If you have Hibernate, you need Phase as well.
2. Suppression pretty much requires you to take Hibernate or Phase. They are promoting build variety with rules that shoehorn you into taking certain powers - sure sounds successful to me.
3. People that couldn't PvP under the old rules because they didn't want to actually have to think while they were playing a game, absolutely adore the new PvP because now they can think and act like they're good without putting in any effort! Odds are they played damage ATs as well - I don't know anyone who played support under the old rules that even remotely thinks these changes were for the better.
4. Hero Masterminds will get wrecked in zones.

PvP went from a diverse experience with a few flaws, to a linear abstract entity with a lot of flaws and down right unfun things involved.
Here we find ourselves in yet another thread of malcontent for i13-14 and we will also be ignored I'm sure yet again :P

A total success?? A total failure IMO.
People just don't realize that some players are actually better than others in PvP. I'd say in PvE too but that can't be possibly true, now can it?
BTW...yes I have to use Hibernate for my dark/thermal. Every time I heal/buff/debuff or whatever I go into this SLOW MOTION! To be honest, I wouldn't need Hibernate if my toon wasn't punished for every action I take. Heck, take suppression away & I wouldn't need phase for zone PvP @ all. Phase was only for the test ladder.
The new changes actually force people into certain builds along with playing a few different ATs. I thought we had enough stalkers running around before the changes, didn't you?
Basically heroes use their blasters & storms....vils use stalkers. Great zone pvp I'd say!! No need to make up a team anymore either because who needs buffs anymore? Team work has been watered down to "This is my target, hit all your buttons and pretend to be good"

Easy answer, Pre-1-13, bring my Thermal into SC where there good action on both sides. Get on a team and I become the # 1 target on the hero side because of my useful buffs and heals. Now the real action begins w/ 2-3 blasters, a spines scrappers, and possibly more on my butt while i'm evading jumping from rooftop to rooftop in the vacinity of my team, keeping them alive and myself alive( and i did a good job of it through simple evasion, isp management/use and my heal). Very exciting, fast paced and intense.
Now, well, my ice/thermal is deleted. I can imagine though what it would of been likein 1-13, get on a team, buff for a whopping 4% increase in dmg res, my heals are garbage and start to fizzle out. I start getting attacked, I suppress to a snails pace, my self heal starts to fizzle out, and in 10 sec I either die or phase. Tons of fun. Where's the exitement in that, very anti-climactic IMO.
I keep trying to enjoy this new ver. of pvp, but after 15 min, i'm just bored out of my skull. I have quite a few toons to pvp on either side for different zones too, it's simply just not fun anymore.
This new ver just defies logic, why in the world in a team game would you try and even everyone out and make team support roles useless? Why would pool attacks be on par w/ T9 attakcs? IMO, in the old pvp, there were logical counters to about everything, it wasn't perfect, but it was fun. Other team got resistance, bring -res, other team spiking, you heal, other team mez spiking, you thaw/clarity/clear mind spike that target, getting slowed, bring a kin, fast paced travel powers bothering you, get or make a TA, the other teams heals giving you trouble, use poison. It was for the most part, all there.
And I love the common "big lie" of my toon is useless for zone pvp. Most know you could make most builds work. You just had to learn some basic things, like proper movement, insp management and use, and knowing, accepting and performing your role. Some people got this, and were very successful at making builds most nubs wouldn't dare entering a zone w/ like TA def for example. The ones who knew their roll frustrated the crap out of the vills and I'm sure assisted in many, many kills even if they didn't directly do it themselves. That's just one example and their are many more.
I never got this either, alot of pve'rs have no problem building a toon for farming something, TF's, soloing, soling AVs, etc, etc. but god forbid we make a toon for pvp, unheard of. Now where stuck w/ this ver. Where we try and make everyone equal right out of the box, whacky game mechanics and such to where no one has to , gasp, actually work at competing at a competative part of the game.
Wow, end rant, I never post and had it building up for a while as I wonder why I still try and pvp in this game anymore.
Sup Gibson, you probably don't remember me, but we've battled and teamed on the Vill ladder together. I used to play doms for GMW.

I could almost forgive them the stupid suppression except for how it effects support. A heal gets a 4 second suppression? Really? A buff gets 4 seconds? It's just retarded. If they got rid of suppression for heals and buffs it would make support a viable option again, even with DR. But then, I guess they don't want that happening in their PvP because heals and buffs are for dirty cheaters that need to lrn2pvp.

Pre-13 PvP was far from perfect, but PvP 2.0 is two steps backward and sideways. It fixed none of the issues that people complained about and added a whole slew of new stupid.

Notice, I said PvPing. That means not just doing it to farm PvP IOs in the arena.

Not that you will necessarily agree that they were probs but theres rewards now, the game is slowed down, travel suppression makes a hit and run seem foolish, I mean to me it just feels more balanced. But I can see your point abt buffs - we dont want to make buffers tougher to kill but useless @ the same time.

Most is an iffy word. Sure those that liked it before dont like it now cuz they didnt think there was a prob in the 1st place. But really MOST didnt (and still dont) PvP because its awful.
Actually, I don't think there's a PvP'er out there that believes the old system didn't have problems. The thing is, i13 did nothing to help these problems while creating whole new ones.
Also, I'd say most don't PvP because they simply don't want to, not because it's "awful" as you put it.

CoV is CoH gone bad (as in EVIL, BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!).
As in CoH: Gone to Rogue Isles.
I was in the first villain group (not a founding memeber, though) in CoH: The Circle of Nine. Pre-Beta forums. Villainy had to be the first expansion, since a lot of people wanted to make villains too.
Crossing the line/walking in between Light and Dark is something that's brings it all together. And it's something that's been asked on the boards, and championed by Positron before he became the Lead Designer for CoH.
It'd be rather silly to have the 'crossing over' expansion before villains are available.
Zone PvP is horrible.

2. Why all this suppression? Why do you punish builds that heal/buff?? Do you punish a blaster for using his main attack too much in a certain time period? Maybe drop the damage a bit after each use?

I've been pvping since it came out on test & I find myself confused on why I'm leveling up any toons for zone pvp. It's really not worth it, is it?
