You can't log in on a new character until the previous one finishes timing out anyway. So how time much would it really save? How long does it take to type in your password?

[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, that's backwards. For example, if you loaded a second instance of the game and logged into another character on the same account, the new log-in takes priority. Oh, you'll get an error message, but hit the login button again and you WILL log in the new toon.

[/ QUOTE ]But that's with a different instance of the game running. The 30-second countdown is an anti-abuse measure, both against griefers trying to escape before being identified, and people trying to escape from a battle that's gone south.

If they did enable a logout to Server Selection, they'd almost certainly make sure it didn't shorten the countdown. You'd still only save the few seconds it takes to enter your password.

I don't suppose it's occurred to anyone that they could add a "favorite server" option, that is automatically selected whenever you log in, to save you the step of choosing which server to play on?

You can still press the back button and select another server, of course.

well it is, sorta.

The last server you logged into will always be at the top of the list, with the rest of them sorted from light load to heavy load.

If you're very server-monogamous, your fave server will always be the first one in the list. If you switch from one server to another, you'll have to go find the 'other' server whenever you switch.

That was an example to prove it didn't work the way you described. As someone else posted previously in this thread, they can reload the game in less than 30 seconds so quitting to desktop and restarting takes them less time than quitting to the login screen.

I'm not saying either of these methods is a common practice, or particularly useful, I'm just saying that you *CAN* log in a new character before the 30 seconds is up.

There are a few people who so desperately want to avoid a 'loss' in zone PvP, that they have a 2nd game client logged in a password entered, so all they have to do is hit the enter key in that window to force the 1st client offline.

I'll reserve my opinion of such tactics for another thread.

My argument is that is should be an option to those who want it and available through Account Management.

[/ QUOTE ]

So you are saying it's worth saving a few seconds of your time, on occasion, to have them go through and set up another in-game store?

Because seriously, the store in the character select screen (not even full in the game) is the ONLY thing that goes and queries the Master account as to "Y/N?" currently.

Ah, the innocence in that statement is truly charming

Trust me, a disclaimer means nothing, after all, "You CAN make an exception for me, though! A) IT wasn't my fault B) I've already kicked out my roommate C) I've never asked anything of the CS staff before! D) I PAY YOUR SALARY!.

Damn... Personally, I don't care about this feature. It doesn't do anything for me personally. But shooting it down for that reason or "some idiot might be an idiot" is simply lunacy.

Not if you go with the expanded version:

I play this game to have fun. If I have to petition for ANYTHING, I would rather not be forced to wait because of some idiot being an idiot in a way now prevented.
