My main, an arch/em blaster, holds the Rularuu bow in his magical pirate hook. It's silly, but cool.
Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.
Use Dual Blades, it works that way.
It's particularly good with claws.

That's broadsword. Try katana. Shields are used in left hand. The hook is on the left hand. Think about it. Broadswords are in the right hand and work with shields. Katanas don't because...

I have an AR/Pain Corr with a hook. When he goes to fire his rifle, he uses his hook to cradle the rifle's barrel to steady it, it looks kinda cool. I've been wanting to make a bow toon to see what that looks like.
I had one with claws once, back before we could choose what they look like, and they just sort of appeared out of the air right next to the hook.

As you can see in the link the Hook is on the left had not the right. Yes if you are Kat which using both hands it will look funny.

Alright, made a pretty kick [censored] looking Captain Hooke on Freedom and took a sword .. but get this. The devs never thought someone would do that otherwise they would have put the sword in the RIGHT hand, not the hook. There's no way to move the hook to the right hand so the sword shows up in your human hand and there's no way to move the sword to your right hand so it looks good. Nope .. only thing is to walk around with a sword balanced in your hook. Nice.
